: ● Chocobo riding: Both for pleasurable rides in the country and for long-distance travel, Ghalleon has become a very skilled rider. He is comfortable enough in the saddle that he has began practicing the sport of jousting, and he would be a competent rider if mounted during battle. If he is coordinating or commanding, he prefers to be mounted for the better visibility and mobility; however, if he is confecting thaumaturgy, he prefers to be dismounted and concealed for the ability to strike the enemy unawares.

He is always constrained by justice and conscience--but he is practiced at arranging affairs in his favor.

: ● Scribe: Ghalleon can read and write; and in his youth, he actually came to find the act of writing pleasurable. He developed basic skills as a calligrapher, and made some side money in his teenage years by (rarely) writing decorated manuscripts for enthusiasts and (more commonly) as a notary drawing up bills of sale for Ul'dahn markets. He hasn't done this much in recent years, though.

: ● Thaumaturgy: The Arrzaneth Ossuary is the custodian of thaumaturgy--and Ghalleon has worked there for fifteen years. He certainly isn’t the most powerful sorcerer in the realm, and he hasn’t even attempted to train in multiple styles of magic. He’s also never unearthed spells of ancient or hidden origin. But in terms of thaumaturgy's potential and power, Ghalleon stands at the pinnacle of the art.

He certainly isn’t the most powerful sorcerer in the realm, and he hasn’t even attempted to train in multiple styles of magic. He’s also never attempted to practice arts forbidden by the Order. But in terms of thaumaturgy's potential and power, Ghalleon stands at the pinnacle of the art. The Order of Nald'thal's favors the element of fire, sacred to Lord Nald'thal; and also ice and lightning. But Ghalleon has spent a considerable amount of time specializing in defensive manawards and aetherial manipulation [short teleportation].

: ● Battlefield tactics: Ghalleon is not a professional soldier or general; but he has read enough history and military manuals, and participated in enough small sorties, to give him a quite competent sense of strategy and tactics. He is good at estimating enemy numbers in a short count; at weighing the terrain of a battlefield; and at calculating artillery or aetherial strikes from cover (a skill extremely useful for a thaumaturge). This skill usually is only of help to him personally, though, as he's almost never in a position to give orders to soldiers.

| <div style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:11px;">Phaedra is a Wildwood Elezen and Ghalleon's sister. Though the two obviously do not share a mother, Phaedra and Ghalleon have never thought of each other as less than full family. The two have shared a close relationship from childhood, when they would spend non-lesson days playing and exploring the woods of their estate in North Clearwater; fishing in the lake when the weather turned warmer; and, in the summers, swimming.
 +
 +
Phaedra is a few years older than Ghalleon, and sings in the cathedral choir of Saint Thordan's Basilica. A pious woman, she had thought to swear vows of consecrated virginity to the Church until the recent revolution in Ishgard and the Church's loss of standing. Now she is a bit unsure of her path forward, and has decided to spend her present energy traveling and increasing her family's fortunes. She has had amazing success in securing a modest textile trade between Ishgard and the Hingan port of Kugane.
 +
 +
Phaedra is joyous, whimsical, and playful. She loves making new friends, and loves to feel involved in new and important things. She likes to gossip, but never in a malicious way. And though she tries not to remember social slights, she never volunteers any information on her and Ghalleon's separate parentage.</div>

| <div style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:11px;">Absalom is a Midlander Hyur and Ghalleon's father. He's a bit shorter and a bit heavier than Ghalleon; he keeps a well-trimmed full beard of ruddy chestnut that is only starting to show streaks of gray, and he wears spectacles like his son. Absalom has spent his career as a courtier of Lord Baurendouin de Haillenarte. The Helseths own a modest estate in the Coerthas eastern highlands, to the north of Lake Clearwater--the family would split their seasons between their estate there and a modest personal residence in the Pillars whenever Absalom's duties called him to the capital.
 +
 +
Absalom encouraged his son to pursue ordination from a young age, believing Ghalleon's constitution to be unsuitable to knightly service but still wishing his son to achieve a prominent social standing. He was overjoyed to discover that Ghalleon had aetherial aptitude, and encouraged his study with the Order of Nald'thal to develop this gift.
 +
 +
In recent days, after Ishgard's reform of government, Absalom was invested with a minor noble title for his years of faithful service to the Count de Haillenarte. Absalom is deeply gratified by this honor after his years of work, but simultaneously believes his family to be in a rather precarious place, potentially being the object of both envy and resentment. He often consults with Ghalleon on the affairs of their new House, and the ways by which to secure its fortunes.</div>

| <div style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:11px;">Cornelia is a Midlander Hyur and Ghalleon's mother. Ghalleon takes most of his features from her--her slight build, her crisp blue eyes, and her very long golden blonde hair. Because Absalom's income as a retainer did not require her to work, she is the day-to-day master of the Helseth household, managing all domestic affairs whenever Absalom is away and, during their childhood, seeing personally to Ghalleon's and Phaedra's education.
 +
 +
Cornelia has always had an eye on Ghalleon's safety. She approved of his entrance into seminary to protect him from the Dragonsong War, but disliked his study at the Order of Nald'thal, so far away in the Sultanate. She views those years of Ghalleon's life with a quiet resentment and guilt, wishing that Ghalleon had not been cut off from his family for so long.
 +
 +
Nowdays she is counting her blessings that their family is reunited and invested with noble title. She is excited to make House Helseth a 'proper House,' and eager for Ghalleon and Flora to have their first children. She fell very sick with pneumonia several years ago; and though she recovered, she takes small breaks throughout the day now to restore her constitution.</div>

| <div style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:11px;">Ghalleon met Abrielle at a military ball, and was instantly taken with the woman. The two enjoyed a long evening of conversation on all manner of topics, including Ghalleon's favorite: theology.
 +
 +
Abrielle, he learned, was a knight of the Inquisition. She is one of the few people he considers able to match him on more or less the same intellectual and moral level when it comes to the Church and its theology. He respects her reservations on her own past and the state of the Church more than most of his other Ishgardian peers, because he knows she 'gets it' and knows what's at stake. But, conversely, this also means that winning Abrielle's approval is a high prize for him: he will feel the weight of her disagreement, especially on theology, far more heavily than someone he considers ignorant.
 +
 +
He is also entranced by her particular aetherial skill, cultivated and perfected in the Inquisition, called 'Rimefire.' She is also a fearsome swordswoman and a competent blacksmith. Ghalleon has had the chance to see her at work in her forge, and inwardly wishes he was a knight or swordsman himself so that he could ask Abrielle to make him something cool.
 +
 +
Ghalleon thinks that Abrielle could potentially be one of his closest friends, one day, but he gets the feeling that she doesn't like to let people close to her, and he's reluctant to push at her too quickly.
 +
 +
Though it started out as a joke, he now inwardly wonders, because of her Rimefire, whether kissing Abrielle would give one chilly lips.</div>

| <div style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:11px;">Though Ghalleon saw Denz here and there at the start of his business with the House, the men only took their first real notice of each other in a recent confrontation.
 +
 +
During a feast day celebration for Menphina at which Ghalleon was invited to deliver a homily (his wife Flora was also in attendance), Ghalleon objected publicly to an interruption from Jancis that Ghalleon interpreted as insulting. Before the two could truly address the matter, Denz intervened, and demanded that Ghalleon either take the dispute to a private location, or else retire from the Dawn Vigil for the evening. This got Ghalleon's blood up: he felt that his noble station was being derided by a peer, and that Denz's ultimatum violated the terms of his ward agreement with House de Bayle in any event. But rather than press the issue there and risk permanently alienating the entire House, Ghalleon said that it was unjust to demand he settle a dispute in private when he had been insulted in public, and left the Vigil with his wife.
 +
 +
With Hestia acting as mediator, the dispute was mended swiftly enough. Denz apologized for certain of his remarks, and the two men are, at least in Ghalleon's estimation, completely reconciled. However, first impressions are often difficult to dispel, and he wonders if Denz hasn't formed a similarly negative first impression of himself.
 +
 +
Ghalleon has noticed Denz's penchant for wearing full plate, and has noted the man's significant strength. He has noted the lingering presence of aether on the man and his equipment, and has made a note to investigate its source, as he doesn't appear to be skilled in the typical magical arts.
 +
 +
Denz and Hestia have discussed House matters, or general political and strategic matters, on a few occasions in front of Ghalleon. In his estimation, Denz's opinions run impulsive and overconfident; Ghalleon thinks his own opinions are highly tactical but run defensive and risk idleness; he thinks Hestia's instincts lie somewhere in the golden mean. Interestingly in this respect, it is through Denz's open conversation that Ghalleon learned of the special aetherial significance of the House de Bayle sigil inscribed on its scions' skin. Hestia, of course, was (and remains) far more circumspect.
 +
 +
Ghalleon doesn't know the entire picture and is therefore careful not to rush to judgment; but his opinion of Denz is filtered through the lens of Jancis; inwardly, Ghalleon wonders if Denz is something of a rake.</div>

| <div style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:11px;">Ghalleon first met Hestia on the field of battle, working together in a team of skirmishers in Gyr Abania, around Goodblade. What he observed there would be a microcosm of his thoughts on Fiona for the next year.
 +
 +
The first thing he recognized was her incredible power with magic. Fiona healed Ghalleon's wife of a grievous injury as if it were nothing: this, combined with Fiona's general sweetness and courtesy, made Ghalleon instantly like the woman. But he also instantly recognized that her magical skill was utterly foreign to him. He saw strange sigils on her skin which seemed to warp and bend; he saw her regularly use her own blood to fuel her sorcery (Ghalleon knows only a single spell of blood magic from the Order of Nald'thal, which is used for healing); he saw her speak words of power in foreign and forbidden tongues.
 +
 +
The contradiction is that Fiona appears to be one of the sweetest and kindest souls that Ghalleon knows, and he counts her a firm ally; and at the same time perhaps the most dangerous and heretical. He knows with certainty she has deep kin or connection to dragons, but he does not know how deep the well runs. He is also fearful of the sources of her sorcery, recognizing at least some of it to be Mhachi arts forbidden by his Order.
 +
 +
Magic is not Fiona's only skill (or only battle skill), but it is the one that interests Ghalleon most. If he has the chance to see her casting, he always takes the time to study her carefully, and inwardly compares himself against her (though his magic has never been on full display in front of House de Bayle yet).
 +
 +
He enjoyed a winter farmer's market with Fiona not long ago, and is on the lookout for gourmet teas to share with her to get her opinion on them.</div>

Impressed by her competence in battle and her serious demeanor, Ghalleon quickly wrote to her to arrange a meeting.
 +
 +
Since House de Bayle was a newly-noble House like his own, Ghalleon was pleased to find that Hestia was willing to work together with him for the benefit of both families, even more so in recent days now that Hestia has taken the title of Viscountess to oversee the House's entire affairs. Ghalleon has accepted a position as ward of House de Bayle and is operating as an envoy between them and Great House Haillenarte.
 +
 +
Ghalleon knows a number of people whom he would describe as frivolous, dissolute, or facetious: Ghalleon admires Hestia as almost the photo-negative of this. The two do not see perfectly eye-to-eye on Halonic Orthodoxy, but he believes the two to be on the same side of things, and thinks that they can work together for reform within tradition without any insincerity. He arranged for his sister Phaedra to become a ward of House de Bayle also, hopeful that his sister would make new friends.
 +
 +
In his heart, Hestia represents much of what Ghalleon aspires to become for his own House. He admires her faith most, and silently marks her style of command to improve his own. It is his hope, as he works, to become quietly indispensable to her; he knows his own value as a friend and ally, and he never forgets his friends, especially those who help him or his family in moments of vulnerability.

| <div style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:11px;">Keyla is a baker in House de Bayle's kitchens; but Ghalleon has seen her prepare all sorts of dishes. After his introduction, he's learned that the woman is currently retired from the Order of Knights Dragoon.
 +
 +
He's seen enough glimpses of her prowess to know there's a story there: her training in the yard, or her movement in field gear in short excursions, by themselves tell Ghalleon that she retains her skill in battle. He wonders to himself why she's decided to spend her present days mostly in the kitchen: perhaps she's suffered a hidden wound? Perhaps her appetities have tired of battle? Ghalleon is intrigued, but has not yet had the opportunity to ask.
 +
 +
He has noticed that she seems to know much of the business of the house, but is more reticent to share her opinion on things (at least in the occasions that Ghalleon has been present). This has endowed her with an aura of mystery to Ghalleon, and he now wonders what secrets she's keeping.

| <div style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:11px;">Ghalleon met Killian when he first introduced himself to House de Bayle. To Ghalleon's embarassment, it took several meetings before he noticed that the man was blind: he seemed to get around just fine.
 +
 +
Killian seems strange to Ghalleon: a man who seems smart but asks questions with obvious answers. Ghalleon can't tell sometimes if Killian is affecting simplicity or truly doesn't understand something; if Killian is asking a question with an ironic edge or in sincerity. The more Ghalleon has come to know him, the more his default reading of Killian is straightforward sincerity, but he's never quite certain.
 +
 +
Moreover, Ghalleon can usually get a feeling of a person's religious convictions in a pretty short order of time, but he's still not sure of Killian's. He doesn't seem exactly impious, and certainly not blasphemous; but Ghalleon gets the unspoken feeling that Killian doesn't care much for religion. Regarding Halonic Orthodoxy in particular, the last time the two spoke was an ad hoc debate on it, with Ghalleon defending the faith and Killian attacking it. Killian walked out on the discussion, and the experience has left Ghalleon with a sense that Killian's worldview is probably incommensurable with a faithful Ishgardian's.
 +
 +
Nevertheless, he respects the man and has no desire to be unfriendly with him. Ghalleon sensed instantly Killian's massive power with aether, and has seen his conjury on display several times now. Ghalleon has inwardly been comparing Killian's own skill with aether against his own; but this is a purely internal estimation, as Ghalleon (so far) has avoided any grand display of his own skill at thaumaturgy in front of House de Bayle.
 +
 +
Ghalleon is secretly a bit jealous of Killian's good shape, and has started trying to do a few push ups in secret each night alone in his bedroom. He wonders if Abrielle might be willing to make him some cool armor too.</div>

General Information
.
What words can convince an unbeliever? If one leaps from a precipice, for a few precious moments, it feels as if one is free, as if one is flying, even! Too bad that, in reality, one is falling, and the illusion of liberty only lasts those precious seconds it takes to smash into the ground. At the moment, Ishgard is falling, and thinking itself free. I hope someone will catch her, before disaster overtakes us.

Hair & Eyes
Ghalleon's hair is long golden blonde, and his eyes are crisp sky blue. It has been his custom since adulthood to pin the front fringes of his hair together in hanging locks to frame his face. Over the past few years, however, he has been letting his hair grow longer and longer, pleased at his wife's reaction to the style. It always appears meticulously washed and combed, for which he relies upon his maidservant Mahira's assistance. Ghalleon is nearsighted, and it bothers him enough that he will almost always wear spectacles over his eyes. He may remove them, however, to see better in conditions of heavy rain or snow; or in gales lest he lose them.
Physique & Markings
Ghalleon's skin is rosy pale. It is particularly white in areas usually covered by his long garments, such as his upper arms; however, he must walk around in the Ul'dahn sun enough that his face, hands, and lower forearms are just a touch darker. He has an average build: nobody would describe his frame as spindly, but nobody would describe it as particularly athletic, either. His upper arms, if they are ever spotted from beneath a cloak or cassock, would be surprisingly well-defined for a man who spends his days indoors. On the other hand, he becomes winded by the time he ascends a third flight of stairs. He has no tattoos, scars, or other distinctive markings on his body.
Hygiene & Attire
Except in emergency, Ghalleon always appears in public bathed, combed, and clean-shaven. He usually smells of grapefruit citrus and fern, owing to the tonic he applies to his cheeks after his shave. His clothes are characteristically simple but opulent, and they are matched to the occasion. His usual attire is a black cassock of his Order inlaid with gold embroidery. However, in Ishgard he may select highborn fashions when his clerical state is not necessary. As a wealthy man in Ul'dah's hub of trade, his eye is often attracted to strange and exotic items that command high costs. In virtually all circumstances, however, he prefers to wear clothes which keep his entire body covered. He will also almost always bear a scepter, which serves as his thaumaturgical focus, and a small satchel for sundries.
Personality
Psychological Profile
Ghalleon enjoys solitude, silence, prayer, and study; but he draws energy and strength equally from moments with close friends. He needs both elements in roughly equal doses, or he will begin to feel either harried or lonely. He does not care much for large gatherings or conversations with several strangers, as these can be pleasant for him but always leave him emotionally and physically drained. Interestingly though, his vocation has greatly assisted his public speaking skills, and he has little trouble anymore speaking to groups, especially as a priest or teacher.

He is typically calm and polite in conversation. He has a temper, but it usually only flares up when he's responding to someone else's energy. As a priest, he is always prepared to hear a penitent's confession, or to aid someone in need with alms or advice; but he will not reward bad choices with sentimental reassurances.
Voice
Ghalleon speaks in a clear and rich baritone. He has a habit of stopping abruptly mid-sentence in conversations or lectures, as he is constantly thinking of qualifications and clarifications to even simple points. Though his knowledge of popular songs is spotty, he has a surprisingly large and precise vocal range, employed mostly in the chants and hymns of his priestly office. (Example of his chant.)
Philosophy & Mannerisms
The devout of Nald'thal render Him worship according to His two aspects. Nald governs earthly trade, wealth, and commerce; and Thal governs the underworld and the transactions between the dead and the living. Ghalleon orders his life by these precepts. He is completely orthodox in his theology, and his faith is mature and intellectual. His amassed wealth, to him, is both evidence of Nald's blessing and worship rendered back to Him. Though justice is important as a virtue in its own right, it is especially important to the Traders' faithful, as justice means precisely to give to each person what is his due. The rest and joy of eternal life in Thal's realm is the reward of a life well-lived; and the prospect of being cast into the hells at Thal's hands is a dire warning frequently found on Ghalleon's lips.

Ghalleon particularly honors Halone because of his Ishgardian birth. He believes that he is part of Her chosen people; but that his people must remain strictly faithful and virtuous before Her if they are not to be chastised by their severe Patroness. The recent conclusion of the Dragonsong War has invited much controversy in the Holy See, but Ghalleon steadfastly believes that a strong Church means a strong Ishgard. He has no hatred of dragonkind as such and is pleased at the war's end; but he supports the traditional Orthodox doctrine and opposes revisionist reforms. He has gone so far as to write a treatise in defense of tradition.

Ghalleon enjoys speaking to the faith of the simple just as well as the learned. His pastoral manner is improving daily. He also enjoys conversations with the heterodox, doubters, and apostate, so long as the discussion is in good faith. He dislikes the scornful, the passive-aggressive, and the dismissive, and will quickly fire back at them in a similar tone. He is also generally a supporter of tradition in general and the pastoral ideals of stability, family and community bonds, marital fidelity, and the rearing of pious children. He is especially hostile to sexual promiscuity displayed towards him or laid as bait in conversation with him. Ghalleon—even as a priest—knows the pull of desire as much as anyone; but he believes that indulgence here attacks not only the integrity of the family but the very root of the virtue of faith/fidelity itself. One who is faithful in small things is faithful in great things also.

Ghalleon’s chief method of problem-solving is his intellect combined with his oratory. Any need, problem, or potential conflict he has is an occasion in which he attempts to reason out a favorable conclusion. It is not at all a self-conscious “bartering” or “persuasion”: his instinct that any problem can be talked through by rational people lies very deep in him, and he does not consciously realize that he so frequently takes this path.

Theology: Having been trained in a seminary of the Order of Nald'thal since boyhood, and being since birth a faithful member of the Ishgardian Orthodox Church, Ghalleon has acquired significant content mastery of formal systematic theology and its philosophical underpinnings. His knowledge of religious lore is deep, but it is restricted to the formal and academic: he has little knowledge or confidence in folk traditions or heterodox doctrines and practices.
Chocobo riding: Both for pleasurable rides in the country and for long-distance travel, Ghalleon has become a very skilled rider.
Cunning Negotiator: The markets of Ul'dah are a crucible of commerce. The city has taught him proficiency not only in bartering for daily prices, but in the negotiation of service contracts, and the much more dire drafting of speculative business ventures. He is always constrained by justice and conscience--but he is practiced at arranging affairs in his favor.
Scribe: Ghalleon can read and write; and in his youth, he actually came to find the act of writing pleasurable. He developed basic skills as a calligrapher, and made some side money in his teenage years by (rarely) writing decorated manuscripts for enthusiasts and (more commonly) as a notary drawing up bills of sale for Ul'dahn markets. He hasn't done this much in recent years, though.
Combat Abilities
Thaumaturgy: The Arrzaneth Ossuary is the custodian of thaumaturgy--and Ghalleon has worked there for fifteen years.
Battlefield tactics: Ghalleon is not a professional soldier or general; but he has read enough history and military manuals, and participated in enough small sorties, to give him a quite competent sense of strategy and tactics.

Sixth Astral Era
Childhood and Adolescence
1572 6AE (22 years old): Ghalleon completes his regency, and begins formal theological studies. The Calamity. The Milvaneth Sacrarium of Nald is damaged, and several of the Order perish.
1570 6AE (20 years old): Ghalleon completes his first studies and begins regency as adjunct instructor of thaumaturgical theory.

1565 6AE (15 years old): Ghalleon enters his novitiate with the Order of Nald’thal.
1563 6AE (13 years old): Ishgard withdraws from the Eorzean Alliance. Ghalleon may no longer easily repatriate. After consultation with his family, he chooses to remain with the Order of Nald’thal, and formally announces, with the consent of the hierarchs, his intentions as a postulant.
1561 6AE (11 years old): At the direction of his family, Ghalleon is sent to a grammar school and religious confraternity of the Order of Nald'thal in the Sultanate of Ul'dah.
1557 6AE (7 years old): Ghalleon is sent to the seminarium of the Ishgardian Orthodox Church. The Garlean XIVth Imperial Legion occupies Ala Mhigo. The great wyrm Nidhogg destroys the Ishgardian town of Ferndale.
1550 6AE: Born. (26th Sun of the Second Umbral Moon.)

Seventh Umbral Era
Adulthood
Ala Mhigo is liberated. Flora devotes herself to rebuilding the Fists of Rhalgr. Ghalleon looks to new allies in Ishgard to help him rebuild the Ishgardian Orthodox Church.
Baelsar's Wall falls to Alliance occupation. Ghalleon's wife, Flora, departs for the front to aid the Ala Mhigan Resistance. Ghalleon volunteers for funerary duties at the front with the Order of Nald'thal to be near her.
Ishgard reforms its government. Ghalleon's father, Absalom de Helseth, receives investiture as a peer in the House of Lords in service to Lord Baurendouin de Haillenarte. Ghalleon writes a treatise in defense of the Orthodox Church and traditional theology, but it is not well-received by the clergy.
Ishgard reopens its borders to foreign nationals. Ghalleon reunites with his family, and reacquaints himself with the situation of the Holy See.
Eorzea repels Gaius van Baelsar. Ghalleon befriends the proprietress of the Rendezvous Teahouse and Host Club, D'ranmaia Shenn, and begins making business and moneylending partners. He marries Florihilda Valerian, of Little Ala Mhigo. He purchases a first home for his family in the Twelveswood; and then sells it for an estate in the Ul'dahn suburbs.
3 7UE (25 years old): Ghalleon completes his second studies and is ordained priest of Nald’thal.

In Recent Times
Moving Forward
‣ Ghalleon has reached out in friendship to House de Bayle, who have become his closest friends and allies in Ishgard. As another newly-noble house, he hopes their stars can rise together.
‣ Ghalleon is actively seeking to expand his wealth. He is involved in moneylending with the Platinum Mirage; in business ventures in Gyr Abania with the Monetarist Rhuli'a Kanjun, and in textile trade to the far east facilitated by his sister, Phaedra.
‣ Thanks to a lucky meeting at a Starlight party, Ghalleon has met Rosaire Ledigne of the Alpine Greening Institute of Coerthas. Having invited the man to survey his family estate in the Eastern Highlands, Ghalleon is excited to see the possibilities for farming the land again.

Flora Valerian, Wife. ( ) - Ascetic of Rhalgr
Recent Thoughts: "It's been so nice, these past months, to spend more time with her at home."
Flora1sq2.jpg
Florihilda and Ghalleon married more than three years ago, an unlikely match of a wealthy Ul'dahn priest and a Little Ala Mhigan refugee. They met in a teahouse, and became united above all by their intense and sincere faith. The two have been together through many personal adventures, including Ghalleon's reunion with his Ishgardian family and Flora's hand in the Ala Mhigan war of independence. They treasure their time together, as they are used to periods of separation: Flora in the past worked as a scout and tea sourcer, although the aethernet has made it easier for them to spend time together.

Recently, Flora has become a monk in the shadow sect of the Fist of Rhalgr: a development in perfect accord with her lifelong piety to Rhalgr and her penchant for ascetic devotion. Ghalleon deeply admires her spiritual development, beginning to see in her the qualities of a shepherd; and the two speak as equals on spiritual matters. Ghalleon's extreme wealth as a priest of Nald'thal and Flora's extreme poverty as an ascetic of Rhalgr seem to be complementary to their relationship rather than a source of conflict.

Ghalleon loves to cook for his wife. She dislikes ostentation, but he has learned to prepare things she enjoys, and does pretty good at keeping her fasting schedule in mind.
Lady Phaedra Hautelle de Helseth, Sister. ( ) - Whimsical Adventuress
Recent Thoughts: "She seems restless this year. Rather like myself."
Phaedra1sq.jpg
Phaedra is a Wildwood Elezen and Ghalleon's sister.

Phaedra is joyous, whimsical, and playful. She loves making new friends, and loves to feel involved in new and important things. She likes to gossip, but never in a malicious way. And though she tries not to remember social slights, she never volunteers any information on her and Ghalleon's separate parentage.
Lord Absalom de Helseth, Father. ( ) - Viscount of North Clearwater
Recent Thoughts: "He hasn't been writing me as much. I hope he's in good health."
Absalom is a Midlander Hyur and Ghalleon's father.

He often consults with Ghalleon on the affairs of their new House, and the ways by which to secure its fortunes.
Lady Cornelia de Helseth, Mother. ( ) - Viscountess of North Clearwater
Recent Thoughts: "She keeps writing me about when our first child is coming..."
Cornelia is a Midlander Hyur and Ghalleon's mother.

Nowdays she is counting her blessings that their family is reunited and invested with noble title. She is excited to make House Helseth a 'proper House,' and eager for Ghalleon and Flora to have their first children. She fell very sick with pneumonia several years ago; and though she recovered, she takes small breaks throughout the day now to restore her constitution.
Acquaintances
Ser Abrielle de Laisard, House Companion. ( ) - Kindred Spirit
Recent Thoughts: "She has many talents--there's more going on there than I thought at first. She threw herself into that duel a little excessively. And her smithing is certainly admirable, but... I hope she's not trying to distract herself from something more important."
AbrielleSq.png
Ghalleon met Abrielle at a military ball, and was instantly taken with the woman. The two enjoyed a long evening of conversation on all manner of topics, including Ghalleon's favorite: theology.

Ghalleon thinks that Abrielle could potentially be one of his closest friends, one day, but he gets the feeling that she doesn't like to let people close to her, and he's reluctant to push at her too quickly.

Though it started out as a joke, he now inwardly wonders, because of her Rimefire, whether kissing Abrielle would give one chilly lips.
Lord Denzel de Bayle, Honorable Peer. ( ) - Powerful, Unpredictable
Recent Thoughts: "His visit for tea seemed to go well enough. Strange of him to make those remarks about my estate, though.... I wonder if he was attempting to mock me obliquely."
Though Ghalleon saw Denz here and there at the start of his business with the House, the men only took their first real notice of each other in a recent confrontation.

Ghalleon has noticed Denz's penchant for wearing full plate, and has noted the man's significant strength. He has noted the lingering presence of aether on the man and his equipment, and has made a note to investigate its source, as he doesn't appear to be skilled in the typical magical arts.

Ghalleon doesn't know the entire picture and is therefore careful not to rush to judgment; but his opinion of Denz is filtered through the lens of Jancis; inwardly, Ghalleon wonders if Denz is something of a rake.
Lady Fiona Delaine, House Companion. ( ) - Sweet Sorcerer
Recent Thoughts: "I finally was able to invite her over for tea, about a year late! Though Denz was there, so I'm not sure it counts."
FionaDelaine.png
Ghalleon first met Hestia on the field of battle, working together in a team of skirmishers in Gyr Abania, around Goodblade. What he observed there would be a microcosm of his thoughts on Fiona for the next year.

Magic is not Fiona's only skill (or only battle skill), but it is the one that interests Ghalleon most. If he has the chance to see her casting, he always takes the time to study her carefully, and inwardly compares himself against her (though his magic has never been on full display in front of House de Bayle yet).

He enjoyed a winter farmer's market with Fiona not long ago, and is on the lookout for gourmet teas to share with her to get her opinion on them.
Dame Hestia de Bayle, Honorable Peer. ( ) - Stalwart Ally
Recent Thoughts: "I've seen less of her since that business with the Alliance. And every time like she's needed more sleep than she's gotten."
HESTIAWIKIBOX400.png
Ghalleon first met Hestia on the field of battle, working together in a team of skirmishers in Gyr Abania, around Goodblade. Impressed by her competence in battle and her serious demeanor, Ghalleon quickly wrote to her to arrange a meeting.

He admires her sense of fashion, and attempts (within reason) to copy some of her styles himself.
Ser Keyla Cailidh-LeFort, House Companion. ( ) - Becoming Baker
Recent Thoughts: "The oysters were really good. I wonder what she's up to. She has this bemused look about her, but never seems to say what she's thinking about..."
Keyla is a baker in House de Bayle's kitchens; but Ghalleon has seen her prepare all sorts of dishes. After his introduction, he's learned that the woman is currently retired from the Order of Knights Dragoon.

He has noticed that she seems to know much of the business of the house, but is more reticent to share her opinion on things (at least in the occasions that Ghalleon has been present). This has endowed her with an aura of mystery to Ghalleon, and he now wonders what secrets she's keeping.

She skyrocketed in Ghalleon's esteem when she recently prepared him a plate of shelled oysters with sun lemon.
Lord Killian de Bayle, Honorable Peer. ( ) - Curious Ally
Recent Thoughts: "He's up and disappeared. Probably prudent not to ask why."
Killian.png
Ghalleon met Killian when he first introduced himself to House de Bayle. To Ghalleon's embarassment, it took several meetings before he noticed that the man was blind: he seemed to get around just fine.

Ghalleon is secretly a bit jealous of Killian's good shape, and has started trying to do a few push ups in secret each night alone in his bedroom. He wonders if Abrielle might be willing to make him some cool armor too.

RP Limits
I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. If something is on the play list, assume it means yes, as long as it's within the context of the current play or ongoing plot. No's are typically a hard no, and it means don't ask.

RP Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. Longer plots that are meant to run for more than a few quick RP's, please feel free to send me a tell so we can work out a good reason for our characters to get to know one another. I'm always looking for RP, unless I'm actively spamming PvE content.

Player Note
There is a lot of information on this character wiki, but it is by no means completely comprehensive. There are chunks of backstory that are left intentionally vague so that details can be later added as developed through creative writing or in role-play revelation. Feel free to use Common or Uncommon rumors freely, if you want to use a Rare Rumor as a plot hook or to spark RP, I would ask that you send me a tell first, to make certain it's alright.
