Character

General

A somewhat awkward Xaela, hailing from a roaming tribe in the Steppe. Pepper is a blacksmith, having learned her trade from her addopted Lalafell mother, who was accepted into the tribe thanks to her own smithing abilities. She also had a twin brother, a warrior of their tribe that seeks to bring their group away from their older, archaic ways. Unfortunately, her tribe was very set in them, leaving her at a disadvantage upon fleeing to Eorzia.

As a child, Pepper was often teased due to her somewhat awkward Eorzian name, but never really took it to heart. She joined her mother in making most of the armor and weapons for their village, honing her craft as a master smith while gaining some proficiency in other languages.

Pepper's tribe was nomadic, often moving to new homes after raids from other Xaela tribes. Many of her friends owed their lives to her creations, inspiring her to only work harder on improving. Her brother was slain in battle and her mother insisted she take his place in the defense of their tribe. Still grieving the loss of her twin, Pepper fled the battlefield.

She remained in hiding for a year, making her way across the Steppe until she stowed away on a ship to Eorzia, eventually ending up in Ul'dah. Pepper made fast friends with many of the refugees outside of the capital, trading her skill with hammer and anvil for food and shelter.

After a few weeks she was picked up by a Miquo'te named A'rec, who took her home on a whim. What she didn't know was the woman had brought her there as a gift for her wife to be, and after a stressful evening the two agreed to let her stay with them in exchange for cooking and cleaning their estate. Pepper accepted their offer, but still remains a young woman far from anything she used to call home, with hardly any understanding of Eorzian culture or customs.

Appearance

Pepper is a small and very mousy Au Ra, with short dark hair that spikes across the left side of her face, usually framing her overly green eyes. Her skin is darker than most cave dwellers, a carryover from spending days out in the sun gathering materials for smithing. Often she dresses very simply, in whatever clothes she can cobble together on her meager amount of gil.

Behavior

Pepper is cheerful and friendly most of the time, though large crowds tend to make her uncomfortable. Meeting new people is welcome, but she can be a bit timid at first when speaking to strangers. She is ever curious about her new home, and often strays off the beaten path to discover things for herself. This usually leads to Pepper getting herself into dangerous situations, more often than not. When she gets nervous, her Eorzian tends to become more broken, causing her to stumble over words if she doesn't fully understand. Despite all of that, she does her best to stay friendly to everyone.
