General Information
At nearly two centuries old, Vrez Marid has still seen surprisingly little of the world. In the five years since her exile from the jungle, she's experienced just as much variety as she did during the previous 170 of her life. The only consistent thread in the tapestry of her life has been her rabbit-eat-rabbit mentality. Friends are useful, but in the end, she makes decisions and plans for her future based on the assumption that, at any time, the world she knows could collapse. If it does, she's likely to be one of the few to come out on top, though at the expense of trust and any true sense of rest.

Hair & Eyes
Ruby red eyes are often her most noticeable feature, contrasting strongly to the soft black tone of her hair. Like many of her kind, she leaves her layered hair down, falling to shoulder length and not longer.
Physique & Markings
Since leaving the Golmore Jungle, the less active urban lifestyle and greasy Eorzean food hit her body like a mag roader. Though she's still more agile than most people, she's no longer as fit as the stereotype of Viera. She's physically strong but has lost a measure of her former coordination, looking more like a typical townie than a tribal forester. She bears a few whipping marks along her back gained from hazing and bullying by other students in the Arcanist's Guild (spoiler: they mysteriously went missing).
Hygiene & Attire
Vrez no longer prefers the traditional attire of her people, having found the revealing style more comfortable in an all-female village than in cities full of strangers. She's adapted to the generic flavor of Eorzean formalwear, especially the type expected in academic or magical settings. Her hygeine is impeccable, and she has slight paranoia over shaking hands with strangers until she knows they wash their hands regularly.

Psychological Profile
Vrez is a demonstration of how the survivor mentality can become toxic. She's betrayed and been betrayed, and despite seeing the diversity of personalities out there, her behavior and life path is based on the assumption that everyone she meets is trying to screw her over, so she'd better screw them harder and faster. Her capacity for deception is impressive, and she can spend years dealing politely with people she hates just to keep the peace. So long as there is peace, she's a model citizen; when the rules of decorum break down, the self-centered survivor comes out.

Her voice is heavy for a woman yet still distinctly female, excluding perhaps the standards of Lalafell. She's not a bad singer either so long as a more experienced person sings along with her first.
Philosophy & Mannerisms
On the outside, Vrez is a consumate professional and cultivates a positive, if understated, image. Her gestures and body language is subdued without being stiff, and she's spent the past century preening her demeanor such that strangers will remember her but not know why. Her philosophy of life is base, almost animalistic, in the sense that she prioritizes safety and shelter before friendship and creative expression. This can cause her to be disloyal at times, though since gaining her bearings outside the Golmore Jungle, she can proudly say that she's never gone hungry or felt cold - a matter of pride she takes in her harsh views on life.

Networking: Vrez keeps a rolodex of hollow acquaintances who owe her favors. She's charming and feigns generosity when need be, expanding a list of low- to mid-level contacts she can call in when low-profile, discreet actions must be taken. Few of these people know her well, but all of them hold a falsely sparkling positive image of her.
Portals: Though completely lacking in conventional defensive magic, her attunement to her collection of Aether crystals allows her not only to swiftly teleport away from hazardous locations, but she can even assist others in doing so, including teleporting groups of people who may or may not be consciously aware.
Combat Abilities
Minion swarm: In limited bursts, she can impose her will on surrounding Aether to summon multiple primal egis at once. This only lasts for a few moments, but therein she can overwhelm a target with swarming tactics.

I don't do dice-rolling. I'm a longtime player of D&D, Warhammer, and other tabletop games; I love them, but number-crunching is NOT roleplaying. If you want to roll dice with me, I'm down to do that in another setting. For FFXIV-based RP, let's weave tales, write plausible descriptions, and determine likely outcomes based on plot devices and story structure.

Golmore Jungle
For 170 years, Vrez lived in complete isolation from the rest of the world. Her birth tribe was decimated by a flood-induced landslide when she was in her 50s, and the survivors in her region joined the Fyth tribe. Harmony endured for decades until the death of her branch of the tribe's matron left a power vacuum. Greedy for power, Vrez challenged a distant cousin to a duel for leadership. They fought; she lost. Rather than punishing her, her cousin was magnanimous and respectful in victory. Unable to preserve her dignity after the public beatdown, however, Vrez chose voluntary exile against the wishes of her whole tribe.

Seventh Umbral Era
Brave New World
Wandering an unfamiliar world, Vrez hopped the first boat she could find and wound up on the shores of Vylbrand roughly a year after the Calamity. Her talent with 'the Mist,' as Viera term the Aether, earned her a teacher-researcher role in the Arcanist's Guild. The Guild helped her to refine her knowledge, but the social environment was hell for her: she faced prejudice for her race as well as being ten times the age of the other students. Eventually her tormentors disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and she went on to be recognized as a Summoner in the fourth shortest period of time in Guild records.

In Recent Times
Moving Forward
Her survivor's instinct led her to secure her position in Limsa Lominsa, focusing her ability to impose her will on and shape Aether into a marketable skill. Though she's no innovator, she analzyed the methods of attuning Aether crystals for teleportation and copied them, improving them, devising methods to use less energy and in shorter periods of time. Her aggressive marketing of herself earned her a fair amount of Gil as well as enemies among competitors she pushed out of the market, though her profession took her on jobs much further across Eorzea than she'd ever expected.

✖ Lljn Fyth (2nd cousin): raised in the same jungle hut as Vrez but the two grew apart. Mother of two daughters, current speaker for their branch of the Fyth tribe in their village. Holds no ill will toward Vrez.
✖ Chenal (daughter): a century old, keeps a low profile among the tribe after her mother's ignonimous departure. Had a daughter of her own a few years ago, making Vrez a grandmother though Vrez has no idea.

I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. If something is on the play list, assume it means yes, as long as it's within the context of the current play or ongoing plot. No's are typically a hard no, and it means don't ask.

I'm not looking for romance. I've accidentally upset RP partners in other games by failing to make this clear up front, so let me be clear now. If my character is nice to yours, please don't understand her behavior as anything else other than being a decent human being. By all means, be yourself; if your character is a gregarious flirt, then don't censor yourself. Just be prepared for an IC rebuff and remember that Vrez is off the market, so to speak.
