General Information
“Hurts like a bitch. But, suppose that’s just what I get for living the way that I do. When the blade is your only friend, you can expect to learn its kiss well.”
Appearance
Hair & Eyes
Yora’s hair shines an iridescent raven, black at its base with shades of blue and green shot through in the light. They keep it tied back, with two longer strands draping over their shoulders in the front.
Their eyes are an unnatural shade of red. Those who once knew them claim that they used to be a deep shade of sapphire. Whatever happened to them is between the hunter and their past.
Physique & Markings
Yora’s skin is a sickly, pale color, and freckles cover their cheeks and shoulders. Their skin is covered in deep scars. Their forearms and wrists above all else, then their shoulders and torso have been wounded in battle. They refuse to show their back to anyone, for the number of twisted scars there that all travel in the same direction, deep and knotted in their muscle.
They stand at 6’1”, and their physique is strong and muscular. They clearly spend their time being physically active and in combat, or training when they don’t have an assignment.
Their face has been marked with a red tattoo, which they refuse to explain.
Hygiene & Attire
Yora lives in a disaster hovel and doesn’t seem to care much for being clean. They litter, they don’t pick up after themselves, they keep their home messy and disorganized. Their personal hygiene is kept up well, but they don’t care much for their own home space and the places around them. Something about having lived in worse…
As for attire, Yora very rarely wears anything other than dark, heavy clothing. Usually sporting light armor even in public places, they’re prepared at all times for the worst situation. When not in light armor, they tend to wear leather and heavier fabrics. Things that would soak a physical blow, and that would be difficult to shove a sharp weapon through. They wear bandages wrapped around their hands and forearms at all times, to hide the scars there.
Personality
Psychological Profile
The hunter seems to have little faith in the people around her to be anything other than violent and cruel. When bad things happen, that’s just the nature of the world. It can’t be helped, when people wrong others. Bad people exist, and deserve to be punished, and sometimes good people do bad deeds. Evil is a seed that lurks in the hearts of all men, and the sooner this fact is accepted, the easier getting through life will be. They fully recognize the paradox of this, and that they as a bounty hunter do qualify as a “bad person”. Nihilism and apathy characterize nearly all of their thought processes.
Voice
Yora speaks confidently at all times, their voice deep and powerful. There’s an amused lilt in their tone as well, a little whining, entertained smile on their lips as they speak. They don’t seem to take much seriously.
Philosophy & Mannerisms
Power does not belong in the hands of induvial people. Humanity is corrupt. Evil lurks in the hearts of every living thing. People who are evil deserve to have their lives ended. People who are kind will have evil things done to them, no matter how hard they try to avoid it. Those whose suffering is too great to live with should be freed from their pain and find solace in death.
These are the simple truths of the world. There is no changing them. There is only acceptance, and existence in a screwed up, terrible world. There is no changing it, and while some individuals may break that chain, never will they root out and destroy the darkness that lurks just out of sight.
Despite all these, Yora doesn’t seem to care. They don’t mind the terrible world around them. Instead, they act as an arbiter of justice. When someone deigns to try and prove them wrong, they can only laugh at the naivety required to deny these truths. Apathy, nihilism, amusement. These characterize their actions.

Non-Combat Abilities
Essentially, nothing: Yora’s skills lie in combat, and combat alone. They’re not skilled with diplomacy, they have the charisma and empathy register of a brick, and they’re awful at being social. They’ve trained themselves for years to ignore almost anything that isn’t combat-relevant and focused their skills there instead.
Combat Abilities
Blood Weapon: Yora has learned an odd skill over the years – and that is using her blood as an aetheric conduit. By self-harming in combat, she can manipulate her blood and use it to add extra force to her blows. Explosive force resonates from their blood at the same time as their weapon strikes and does additional damage.
Corrosive Blood: Due to Yora’s constant forcing of aether through their blood, it’s become corrosive and acidic. Simply coming in contact can burn away at flesh and clothing due to the high concentration. It causes them great pain in their daily life, but they’ve accepted that this is just how they’re meant to live, now.
OOC Note
I heavily prefer freeform combat, but am familiar with the A Roll Reborn system, the XIV:CS system, and using simply roll vs roll combat. Yora is meant to be a character who is near impossible to defeat in physical, close-quarters combat as well. They have very few skills outside of combat, and have no talent for diplomacy or charisma. They’re intended to be thoroughly terrifying to fight. Magic, attacks from a distance, sabotage, poison, subterfuge, etc, are the only things likely to get through their defenses.

History

Historybannery.png
Each story read here is full of information that can be used against this character in what is known as meta-gaming. If any of this information is found used without consent, or learned without IC reasonings, it will resort in me cutting all IC and OOC contact from you. Please understand this is the history of this character and for the enjoyment of those who wish to peruse OOC, not for IC use.
WARNING: Long entries ahead!
Childhood

Born to a midlander and an elezen politician in Ishgard, Yora was held to high standards as a child. After their mother died in childbirth, they were raised by their father, Soveliss Caarvelian. Pursuing a place in Ishgardian high house politics and religious authority, Soveliss didn’t often give Yora attention.

To earn his respect, they spent their childhood in Tailfeather, hunting and trapping chocobos. When that didn’t earn the respect and validation they desired, Yora instead turned to the Ishgardian military, and eventually a place in the Temple Knights.

Young Adult Life

At the age of 25, Yora rose to the rank of Captain among the Temple Knights. Being a bastard and only half-elezen, their peers did not take well to their status.

Political enemies of Soveliss began scheming to ruin his political career and his standing among the houses of Ishgard. To get at him, they would target Yora instead. A months-long scheme culminated in a one-night attack. Yora was invited to a night out with their peers, drinking in celebration of a recent victory against the Dravanians. As they drank and ate and conversed with the other Temple Knights, their drink was spiked with a hallucinogen.

As Yora slowly descended into paranoia and their surroundings distorted, their peers slipped away out of sight and called an inquisitor to the scene, claiming their captain had been possessed and needed to be taken care of. They worked just out of their captain’s sight to worsen their fear, moving in the corners of their vision and calling out to them, slowly turning out the lights in the Congregation halls.

Stranded in darkness, under the influence of hallucinogens, and being tormented by their peers, when the called inquisitor entered the room, Yora lashed out. Fearing for their life, they killed the inquisitor – not only just killed her, but “rather brutally eviscerated her” in the words of their peers at their trial.

Unknown to anyone else, the inquisitor, Perrine, had been seeing Yora secretly as a romantic partner.

Trial… and Verdict.

Shaking and afraid, covered in blood, and entirely despondent, the Temple Knights dragged Yora from the Congregation halls, to the Tribunal, and put her on trial the following day. Her own peers attested to her brutality and her cruelty. Her father, Soveliss, stood among those in attendance. His peers began to offer him odd looks.

Yora demanded trial by combat. She won handily.

When she looked to those who held her fate in their hands, they deemed her innocent enough.

Soveliss stood against the jury and condemned his own child. He demanded imprisonment, and that Yora be marked for all to see as a criminal for the rest of her life by any means. When his peers attempted to talk him down, Soveliss insisted, his rage so great that some claimed in the following days that he’d been possessed by the will of the Fury herself. He shouted that this demon child had nothing to do with his house. That they would live – for they won in their trial – but would never see the light of the sun again.

Unnerved by his insistence and his desire for less conventional punishments, his peers caved to his requests. Yora was forcibly marked – a red tattoo down their left cheek, a permanent marker to anyone they’d ever see again of their criminal status – then placed in solitary confinement and stripped of their rank.

A Message from The Fury & Fleeing Through the Snow

Burdened by the stress of having killed their own lover and then being imprisoned by their father, forever marked a criminal, Yora began to have auditory and visual hallucinations. Lost in their life and their faith, they had no other way to interpret these except as messages from Halone. A condemnation by their patron deity and guardian, a finality that they’d never escape. Torment given to them by the Fury. A message that Yora was meant never to live a normal life again.

A hatred for humanity and for the gods festered in their heart. Both had condemned Yora to the life of a murderer. Supposing she couldn’t refuse her gods-given path, she broke out of prison after four years of stress, hallucinations, and punishment for her crime. She stole a chocobo from the stable and fled out into Coerthas, physically weakened and with her faith destroyed.

New Beginnings

As she fled through Coerthas, she was accosted by several aggressive creatures, and by those who had been sent to fetch her. Poorly dressed for the cold weather, lost without much direction, and poorly armed, she spent days hiding in caves and seeking shelter from the snow, defending herself against wild animals and hiding from search parties. The only resolution to these was to kill, and so she did.

With no other skills and no prospects in Eorzea, she fled to the only safe haven she could think of: Limsa Lominsa, the city of pirates. Finding asylum there, she settled in as a bounty hunter and contract killer, going by the name “Cruor”. After all, that was what she was good at. Despite this, she retained a sense of morality. She’d not kill anyone who didn’t deserve it.

It’s over now.

Soveliss Caarvelian, father - his career came first.
A father whose skills only lie in neglect and politics. When the law did not punish Yora enough, he demanded more, just to save his own political standing.
Player Characters
💕 Filless Haion, partner - why have I agreed to this.
She met him when she came to Limsa Lominsa and took her first mark. He was an apprentice at the arcanist’s guild, a naïve idiot who had never known the world to be cruel. When she arrived, she turned that idea on its head for him. Somehow, they’ve now wound up together… how odd.
Janos Renata, acquaintance - an idiot, really.
A mark like any other. When she finally got around to killing him, she quickly found him entirely incapable of hurting… anyone, really. She spared him and offered him somewhere to stay until he was forgotten.

Rumors

NPC Rumors

Some of these rumors are untrue, speculation, or are greatly exaggerated.

◢ Common Rumors - Easily overheard. Use these freely!
"They never fail the jobs they’re hired for. Ever. That’s why they get such consistent business. They’re good at one thing and one thing only, and that’s murder." — Quicksand Regular.
"I heard that she calls herself 'Cruor' sometimes. It’s a weird name. Someone told me once it just means blood." — Mercenary.
"Another fuckin’ halfbreed come from Ishgard. Really, they gotta fix that problem up there. I’m tired of gettin’ more." — Innkeeper.
◢ Uncommon Rumors - A little more difficult to hear. Use sparingly or ask first!
"I’ve seen some unpleasant folks come through on black chocobos asking after her. She’s apparently never gone much further north than Mor Dhona." — Tradesman.
"For all the mystery about them, they don’t seem to care much about being subtle or hidden… They’re not at all secretive." — Undercover bounty hunter.
"She curses the gods, but calls herself a servant of Halone. Wonder what made that happen…" — Scholarly Type.
◢ Rare Rumors - Very rarely overheard. Please ask before using!
"I’ve heard stories from Ishgard. She’s wanted up there... But she doesn’t seem to care. She’s told me that when her time comes, it’ll come. I don’t think she cares about her own mortality at all." — Rogues Guild member.
"I’ve heard that she lets some of her victims live, if they’ve been falsely called as a bounty. And then, sometimes, she’ll go right after the ones who paid her, if they wronged the person who she was paid to kill." — Shady Info Broker.
PC Rumors

Feel free to add your own rumors to this section.

◢ Player Character Rumors - Some of these are more rare than others!
"Between the face tattoo and unapproachable demeanor, something tells me they’ve got some interesting stories... I’d certainly not object to sharing a drink with them." — Maila Khomiakov.
"The worst decision I'd ever choose to make again." — Filless Haion.
"I've heard of her. Fellow Temple Knight Captain, though her life was steered by politics in the Holy See. Should very well been as free as I, but now roams by neccessity and not want." — Adaline Charbonneau.

IC Inventory
The following items are things that this individual carries on their person at all times. These are noted for pickpockets, and those watching her closely. This information is meant to be a prompt for insight and is not to be meta-gamed, though feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in RP (pickpocketing, a search, etc) with use of a simple /tell.
Ridill: Her blade, kept on her at nearly all times.
Switchblade: Everyone needs a pocket knife. Just don't grab the pointy end when you try to mug her with it.
Coinpurse: Usually pretty empty.

RP Limits
I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. If something is on the play list, assume it means yes, as long as it's within the context of the current play or ongoing plot. No's are typically a hard no, and it means don't ask.
I will play dark themes, mildly sexual themes (NO ERP, FTB), mild gore. Long term plots, adventure, combat, etc.
Ask about beating Yora in physical or close combat. I understand this can be a tall ask or “powerplaying”, but really, if she’s not good at physical combat, then she’s not really good at… anything, actually.
I won't play character death, dismemberment, or any "ask" themes that weren't asked about.
RP Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. Longer plots that are meant to run for more than a few quick RP's, please feel free to send me a tell so we can work out a good reason for our characters to get to know one another. I'm always looking for RP.
■ Any of her rumors are good to use as a hook! Feel free to harass her about them.
■ Give Yora a mark, and pay her to kill somebody. It is literally her job.

Player Information
Player Note
There is a lot of information on this character wiki, but it is by no means completely comprehensive. There are chunks of backstory that are left intentionally vague so that details can be later added as developed through creative writing or in role-play revelation. Feel free to use Common or Uncommon rumors freely, if you want to use a Rare Rumor as a plot hook or to spark RP, I would ask that you send me a /tell first, to make certain it's alright.
