Deeply sun-kissed with jet-black tresses and a tufted tail, this Miqo'te stands taller than most of her fellow females at 5'5". She has the physique of an adventurous spellcaster, relatively fit from travel, though she's clearly not a physical combatant or laborer. Her frame is padded with enough body fat to suggest a fondness for the occasional indulgence. She has a more aquiline nose and fuller lips than others of her race. Her body language is guarded most of the time, though rarely to the point of being outright standoffish. Like many a Seeker, she is affected by heterochromia. Her golden right eye reacts to her magic, sparkling during the casting of lesser spells and glowing brightly for major ones.

Scars & Markings: In addition to sporting the standard Seeker stripes, she typically frames her eyes with serpentine strokes of black paint.

Voice: Her tone is deep and soft, and she favors a labored and loquacious speaking style.

Clothing: Relying entirely on magical defenses, she dresses very lightly, wearing cloth attire with a distinctly desert aesthetic. Her favored colors are sky blue and gold.

Black Magi are seldom pure souls, and A'mynset is no exception, though she is not without a few redeeming qualities hidden in the murk.

To hear her tell it, she used to be a better person, and only through life's harsh lessons did she come to embrace the "necessity" of deception and callous self-interest. Once naively optimistic and prone to trusting her heart in others' hands, a lifetime of rotten luck led to an emotional breakdown, after which she adopted a darkly pessimistic view of the world. Despite her dour observations, however, she demonstrates loyalty to her tribe and the principles on which it was founded, devoting her existence to providing for them. Admittedly, it is unclear whether her dedication is primarily driven by love, or the fact that she is rewarded for her efforts.

Her worst trait is arguably her lack of remorse for draining the aether of the world around her. Given her fondness for arid climates, she takes a certain perverse joy in giving lush lands a tiny nudge toward future barrenness.

Of course, a successful Black Mage must master tact and maintain a low profile, so A'mynset is careful to avoid flaunting too much of her darker nature in public. In fact, she will frequently present herself amiably when she recognizes opportunity, though even at her warmest, her wariness and paranoia can take some time to overcome. Though she strives to remain leery and alert in social situations, she is easily distracted by her two favorite vices: desserts and damsels.

In the less endurable reaches of the Sagolii Desert lies a small font of water, inferior in both size and purity to the Forgotten Springs. Once occupied solely by snakes, a number of Seekers of the Sun recently moved into the region, forming a new tribe after breaking away from the Children of the Sands. They call themselves the Asps, and they have christened their new home the Ophidian Oasis.

The Asps reject a number of Seeker traditions, including the system of Nunh and Tia. Most of the population remains within the Oasis, limiting their wandering to basic hunting, though this is not enough to sustain their society. As their remote location is ill-suited for trade, they instead rely on the Providers, strong and adventurous Asps who spend much of their time far afield, gathering resources for their brethren. Those who serve as Providers are greatly venerated within the tribe, and are granted the surname Eru to show their station.

Such is the role of the former U'mynset Bes.

Born in the Forgotten Springs and raised within the U tribe, U'mynset grew to harbor doubts about various aspects of Seeker society, though she kept her dissent quiet for years. While magically adroit and trained in the arts of Thaumaturgy from an early age, her gifts seemed to come at the cost of social skills. Naive, overly trusting and prone to bouts of blind loyalty, she found herself repeatedly burned when bad luck brought exploitative individuals into her path. Despite this, she was sustained by the love of her long-term mate, U'kasya, whom U'mynset held to be proof that no matter what trouble and tragedy life might bring, there are still good and faithful souls in the world.

Unfortunately, U'kasya would choose to end her relationship with U'mynset under the worst possible circumstances, and the emotional blow shattered the spellcaster's world view, pushing her straight into Black Magic's embrace.

If nothing else, the timing was convenient. At the time of the breakup, tensions were rising between the proud Children of the Sun and the soon-to-be Asps. Finding herself in a frame of mind to speak her objections more loudly, U'mynset joined the separatists and went on to become one of the founders of the new tribe, as well as one of its first Providers.

Now named A'mynset Eru, she wanders the dangerous lands of Hydaelyn to bolster the assets of the Asps, all the while endeavoring to keep her Black Magic hidden from those who suspect she is more than a simple Thaumaturge.

NPC

U'kasya Bes ( ) ( NPC ) - Ex-lover
A'mynset's former mate, and half-sister sired by the same Nunh. A'mynset considers their breakup to be the straw that broke the chocobo's back after a lifetime of having her loyalty exploited.
U'thema Khalyd ( ) ( NPC ) - Mother
A'mynset's mother. She chose to remain with the Children of the Sands rather than joining the Asps, but she sympathizes with their defection, and so A'mynset remains on good terms with her.
U'bes Nunh ( ) ( NPC ) - Father
A'mynset's father, with whom she always had a rocky relationship due to disagreements over the Seeker patriarchy. The divide widened when A'mynset joined the Asps, a decision that U'bes still considers unforgivable.

◢ Common Rumors - Easily overheard. Use these freely!

"She's from one of the new upstart tribes. The usual situation, substandard males wanting to be Nunh."
"Serpent-Tail's in town, is she? Try the bakery or the brothel, odds are she's at one of the two."
"You've seen her one weird eye, right? The more it glows, the more she likes you."

◢ Uncommon Rumors - A little more difficult to hear. Use sparingly or ask first!

"Those Asp types are creepy, and their Providers even more so. I heard they steal people's pets and feed them alive to a giant snake!"
"She really ought to be gaoled for the things she's done, but she covers her tracks well."
"She once took a job to assassinate an innocent person, as the payment offered was a really rare and fancy cake."

◢ Rare Rumors - Very rarely overheard. Please ask before using!

"You didn't hear it from me, but I don't think she's just a Thaumaturge, if you take my meaning."
"Know why she looks younger than her actual age? She steals aether from her lovers, no joke."
"That weapon of hers is something special. Took it from a lamia queen, she did."

Personal RP Limits

I will play mature content and themes (violence, sexuality, crude language, etc.) as suits the natural progression of RP. Temporary injury and incapacitation are acceptable. Playing a Black Mage, a number of dark themes are okay, but send me a /tell to be sure.
ERP is possible under the right circumstances, but the character was not designed to maximize opportunities for such. Interests must be compatible. A'mynset is not the character to pursue if you're seeking a submissive conquest.
I won't play permadeath or long-term sidelining of the character. I have no alts, and I do not wish to be cut off from RP entirely.
I have no interest in RP with players who cannot respect differences in taste, and are prone to offering the sort of unwanted commentary or mockery that makes other RPers feel bad about their choices. Beyond that, I'm open to walk-up RP with anyone.
Ask about anything not covered above!
Disclaimer
■ If an aspect of RP makes you uncomfortable in a scene we're playing, please send me a /tell, letting me know. Communication is very important, more important than potentially keeping immersion.
