P E R S O N A L I T Y

While easily identified as something of an itinerant tale-teller, Ameline has considerably rigid and stern undertones to her whimsical personality. It is clear simply by speaking to her at length that if she desired it, she could be capable of great feats of discipline. She has a stoic and unmoving demeanor, though makes a point to always observe customs and decorum. While some may consider her naive, such would be an injustice to this particularly cunning individual. Simply put, some issues she will decide are not important enough to expend thought or effort on. While a generally pleasant and easily-approached individual, make no mistake: Ameline is a hedonist. She exists purely to suit her own whim. Many hedonistic individuals are seen as promiscuous, but such is not so as far as Ameline goes. It has much more to do with the freedom from moral obligation that would shackle her to a cause that she has no personal stake in. She does as she pleases, goes where she likes, and says whatever she cares to. Because of this, duty-centric individuals tend to see her as someone with an issue with authority. Despite her overall rugged nature, she is particularly sensitive in interpersonal matters and is quick to fall into dramatic self-pity over perceived slights from others.

L I K E S

Speaking: Although she may seem quiet and introverted, once she feels comfortable with an individual it can be difficult to keep her quiet. She is not loud, but prone to tangents and marathon discussion simply for the sake of discussion.
Prose: Ameline has something of a talent for prose and song. She has been mentored by several noteworthy individuals in the art of writing and at one time was an active performer. These days, she is less likely to be seen singing/performing, despite the fact that she continues to write and compose. Occasionally, she will muse a line or two from her work when it seems appropriate.
Portends: Despite being a devout follower to the Twelve, Ameline is highly superstitious and takes particular note of things that could be interpreted as good and bad omens. She has a particular fascination with the timing of daybreak along with the general appearance of the sun and moon.

D I S L I K E S

Crass Natures: Despite having enemies and distrusted acquaintances, Ameline remains ever-mindful of proper decorum. She finds unnecessarily crass or rude individuals insufferable and will not tolerate their presence. She has been known to simply stand up and walk away mid-conversation when in such company.
The Realists: Ameline is trapped so far up in the clouds that she finds it uncomfortable to be brought back down to reality. In many ways, she feels like wading through the mundane things in life dulls the senses and leaves people unimaginative - but the truth is that she is likely unhappy with the status quo.
Marginalization: Quick to assume others as more cunning than they let on, Ameline herself is quite sharp when it comes to others dismissing her as lazy, useless, or otherwise of little utility on account of her whimsical nature. She brands dismissive people as foolish and seems to at least try to find the redeeming qualities in all people she meets

M O T I V A T I O N S

Whim: Nomadic, uninspired by material wealth/goods - Ameline simply travels and keeps her eyes and ears open for things that pique her interest. She seems to have a particular interest in meddling in the affairs of high-born individuals as well as seeking connection to antiquated Elezen customs/traditions.
Shame/Pride: While these concepts seem unlikely for such a non-traditional individual, Ameline is constantly battling her feelings of pride and shame over accolades of the present and failures of the past. Occasionally, this will drive her to doing uncharacteristically dutiful, altruistic, or disciplined acts with little benefit to herself.
Enlightenment: What many dismiss as foolish superstition, Ameline actively seeks to broaden her horizons. Whether it be rumors, foreign customs, or tales that hold little realistic value, she will seek out the source to attempt to gain perspective on her own life.

S T R E N G T H S

Riding: You would not know it to look at her, but Ameline is an incredibly talented at the mounting and riding of animals ranging from Chocobo to Horse and all in between. To see her ride would certainly lead one to believe that she has been professionally trained.
Reach: Ameline is exceptionally tall for an Elezen. Her lengthy arms and legs make her a natural in distance-based combat - specifically lances and spears. Her long reach, along with the typical ten-fulm lance, allows for her to engage foes at a considerable distance allowing for an impressive balance of offense and defense.
Fleet of foot: Ameline is renown for her ability to run exceptionally fast. Her long legs allow what looks to be a casual trot to transform into a full-blown sprint with relative ease. Her mobility allows her to cover great distances in short periods of time: a useful skill to a nomad.

W E A K N E S S E S

Lazy: More often than not, Ameline will take the path of least resistance. Her laziness is purely pragmatic - "Why toil to achieve something that is not necessary to me?"
Uncommitted: Ameline is quick to get carried off on a flight of fancy, but seldom does she see things through to their conclusion. In regards to her relationships, she is fickle and easily distracted by new and interesting people. Aside from this, she has been the subject of a broken engagement and a severed long-term relationship which has lead her to be somewhat distant to friends and loved ones.
Hubris: It isn't arrogance, it is delusion. Ameline fancies her own talents and intuition to the point where she will jump into scenarios that she has no chance of finding a favorable outcome to. Her perception of her own abilities eclipses reality and tends to get her into trouble with challenging others or placing wagers.

Q U I R K S

Substance Abuse: It is not uncommon to see Ameline chewing on a stalk of milkroot or smoking her hand-rolled cigarettes filled with various psychoactive plants. When questioned on this, she explains that it is to help soothe her nerves or to better understand the portends she interprets. It is likely these are diversionary rationales.
Humming a Tune: Ameline has a tendency to hum the same, irritatingly catchy tune when she is idle. Depending on how content she is, the tune can take different octaves and volumes.
Healer Phobia: The Elezen has several pronounced scars from what seems to be a life of hardship and strife. The offer has been made several times to heal these old wounds and remove the scarred tissue from her painlessly, but she seems to have some sort of irrational fear of magics and healing. Ironically, she has no issue with alchemical remedies or chirurgeons practicing far more painful and mundane methods of tending to wounds.

A P P E A R A N C E
While generally comely for a Wildwood Elezen, she is exceptionally tall. It is not uncommon for her above-average height to be one of the first topics of conversation with new folks. Standing at almost 7 fulms, she towers over Hyur and has a good head taller than many other Elezen females.
Although she has gentle features, it is clear that there is a base-line power to the way she moves. While she has a lithe look about her, close inspection would show you that there is strength in her long, seemingly slender limbs. To see her negotiating difficult terrain, hunting wild game, and various other physically-oriented activities that she participates in would easily demonstrate this strength to an observer.
Ameline is not the most glamorous, busty, or well-dressed Elezen woman - but there is a rustic intrigue to the way she presents herself. Her countenance has a perpetual expression of interest and vitality that seems to convey a sense of approachability to the passerby. Despite her free-roaming lifestyle, she seems to have a sense of manners and decorum. It would be reasonable to assume that she has been classically educated after meeting her (despite the fact that this may or may not be the case.)
Despite her attractive proportions and rustic charm, there's no getting around it: Ameline is clumsy and uncoordinated. It is quite common for her long slender arms to collide with a bowl or tankard on a table as she passes it by. Because of this, she seems to be a bit self-conscious in formal functions.
She has a very small yet distinguishing birthmark below her right eye.
Aside from her physical form, Ameline is easily distinguished from other Elezen by her unusual and garish choice of garb. Typically, she can be found wearing fine, gilded leathers covered in adornments and trinkets. Ishgardians may recognize this strange garb as the symbols of a war herald; others may simply look at her and wonder if she is daft for choosing such loud and seemingly kitsch ensembles.

A R M O U R
Battle Armor: Ameline wears a set of polished white Wolfram armor from her days as a professional city-state lancer. The armor was issued to veterans with a longer life-expectancy; a symbol of honor and pride among the rank and file. Occasionally in times of strife and combat, she will don her old battle armor. While it is a marvel of craftsmanship and heavy in symbolism, its bulky nature limits her mobility and has little practicality outside of conventional warfare.
Ceremonial Armor: Little more than a gilded leather tabard strapped with colorful symbols and musical horns. While this particular armor may seem garish and without purpose - Ishgardian veterans would instantly recognize it as the garb of a war herald; an individual tasked with sounding advances, retreats, and positioning scores of soldiers using flags, symbols, and songs.

W E A P O N R Y
Artisan-Forged Lance: A custom-forged lance, the only of its kind, is Ameline's weapon of choice. It is heavy, long, and difficult to carry around - but it has served her well in her difficult life. The weapon itself seems far more ornamental than practical - a common theme about the woman.
Cavalry Bow: This small, light bow was designed to be fired while mounted - a difficult task that few endeavor to learn. While it is highly ornamental like her lance, it seems considerably more mundane and practical. It is light enough to be seen as something she commonly carries for hunting and self-defense.

L A N C E

Cagey about her history as a lancer, Ameline has considerable talent with the weapon. It is clear from her disciplined use of the weapon that she has professional training, but she rarely speaks of it. That said, she is hardly the best and she knows it. She is cautious with the weapon and generally fights defensively without intention of maiming or killing her foe.

B O W

Ameline's skill with the bow seems to be dichotomous. While mounted, she is grace incarnate - her skills are not only practical, but seemingly vain through elaborate maneuvers. It is clear that she has spent a great deal of time and focus learning to use the weapon whilst mounted. Conversely, her dismounted skill with the bow is purely utilitarian. It would seem the she uses the bow in this manner simply to hunt or fight and has little showmanship whilst doing so.

Personal RP Limits:
Rule No. 1 If the issue is sensitive enough to wonder if I would be willing to go with it, send a tell first. I am a reasonable person, but retain domain over the character that I have spent so much time developing and there will no doubt come a time when I will encounter something that makes me uncomfortable. Let's be civil and just keep OOC communication open.
Rule No. 2 There is a lot of information on this wiki. I enjoy writing about my character, but please keep in mind that anything non-observable in this wiki is for OOC reference only. Please be considerate and keep this in mind when interacting with my character!
