Domri Blackblade is a freelance mercenary born in the once great city-state of Ala Mhigo. He bears a great passion to someday return to Gyr Abania and take back his home from the Garleans. For now, however, he can most often be found in areas where job boards are typically posted. Ul'dah and Limsa Lominsa are his expressed preferences in locations to get work, though whether that is due to location or simply general opportunity availability is not clear. When he is not on a job, he can be found socializing around the towns. Despite the fact that his usual attire of armor and axe can be seen as a little intimidating, Domri is generally known to be an extremely friendly individual.

Character

● History

Domri was born in Ala Mhigo to parents Ral and Vela Blackblade and was one of three children. He had an elder brother, Adun, and was a twin to his sister Elyse. His father Ral was a monk in the city-state's military and instilled a passion for strength and training in all of his children. His mother gave up her career to raise her children full time, but she, too, was known in the military as being quite the formidable opponent. Both of them raised their children to value independence and perseverance, and were very strict, but loving individuals.

Domri looked up to his elder brother, Adun, the most of anyone. Five years his senior, Adun was the definition of star child and was Ral's protégé. He took his combat training very seriously and picked it up at a speed that was well past many of his age group. When he enlisted in the military, Adun graduated his training in the top three. Growing up, there was no one on the level of Adun in Domri's eyes. The brothers were close, ad a lot of what Domri knows today is owed to his eldest sibling.

His sister, Elyse, was his best friend in everything. The two came into the world together and spent a lot of their time in the other's company. There were never any secrets between the two, and Domri had a trust for her that was unsurpassed. Elyse was different from her brothers in that she did not quite share the same passion for physical superiority. Instead, she found her greatest interest in various magics and devoted her life to learning and mastering them. Quite a few times she would use her twin to practice spells to mess with him.

After the fall of Ala Mhigo, only Domri, his mother, and his sister managed to escape. Ral was stubborn and refused to leave, insisting they could take back the city only from the inside. Adun, like many, was slaughtered by the Garleans during their escape and his loss left a very dark mark on Domri. For around a decade, he and his sister took up mercenary work to care for their mother whose health began to sharply decline since the day they fled.

Eventually, Domri allied with the Twin Adders, inspired at the time by the Elder Seedseer and her passion for the Eorzean Alliance. However, during the battle in Cartaneau Flats against the VIIth Legion of the Garlean Imperial Army, Domri was one of the soldiers. He has not since seen or heard from his family and has no idea if any of them even live.

● Appearance

Standing at a height of 6 fulms, 5 ilms, Domri is on the taller end of Highlanders and is very built due to years and years of strenuous physical training. His hair is dark brown and is usually left short an shaggy. It's clear that he is not extremely well acquainted with a comb and can frequently be seen substituting his hands for one. His eyes are a deep blue and are most of shaded by the uneven bangs that cover his forehead. Perhaps the only thing that seems mildly groomed about him is his beard which he keeps at a short length and styled.

Domri bears many scars, and two that are always apparent due to their location. Across his right eye and on the left corner of his mouth are two slashing scars he gained in his many years of freelancing. Both, like every scar he has, bear a story from some chapter in his life. Less apparent due to his clothing habits are his many other marks that span all over his hulking frame.

He can generally be found sporting his armor as he tries to be prepared to take up a new job on a moment's notice. Also, working freelance, first appearances are generally a very important aspect. He knows he needs to look formidable in order to more likely be hired outside of a job listing. However, there are times he can be found wearing normal clothes, though they are much more rare an occasion. His fashion isn't very complex. A shirt, pants, and boots are generally the full thought process he goes through to achieve basic dress.

● Behaviour

In general, Domri is a pretty social individual who isn't afraid to approach and meet new people. He tends to be very outgoing and enjoys a good conversation as much as anything. While he can be found frequenting taverns every so often, when things get too noisy he tends to withdraw a bit. Too much conversation happening around his tends to be trying, so he generally tries to keep to smaller groups. For the post part, he can be extremely friendly to most people who talk to him. He enjoys sharing things about himself as well as learning about the quirks and stories of those around him. Asking him to tell of one of his adventures is probably one of his favorite interactions.

He holds a special place for men and women from Ala Mhigo and those who knew it when it was great. While he knows not many share his same desire to return home one day, he does love talking about it and sharing his memories of his life there. After all, that's the only way he can keep it living on. His memories serve him as a sort of homage to the people he knew and loved growing up and he wants to spread them to everyone he knows so they may always have a place in the world.

His demeanor in public is almost always a laid back one as impressions are a thing that is important to him. Weakness is a trait he refuses to be known by in any capacity, so he will keep such feelings to himself and deal with them in private. For the same reasons regarding appearances and impressions, he avoids arguments and pointless fights, believing that a man or woman who can rise above petty conflict is better for it. That's not to say he doesn't have a temper; he does. However, he thinks it is weak in character to lose control of one's self emotionally in front of others, anger included.

When on the job, Domri tends to be a little more serious. His performance and success in jobs is the only way he can guarantee he keeps working and working is one of his biggest passions. Originally, he took up mercenary work out of necessity, having lost everything but the clothes on his back to the Garleans. However, over the years, he grew to love the thrill, crave it, and reveled in seeing the corners of the world that not everyone was able to. There was a point in his career where he was stable enough to decide to to anything else, but he remained out of a love for it.

● Friends

Virella Douront – An Ishgardian he met when she walked into him, quite literally, with arms full of research. He enjoys her sass and her very to-the-point way of thinking. Even though the two of them spend a lot of time debating, there's no denying that they are very close, and though he won't admit it, he is extremely attached to her.
Nicholas Graveshire – Nick is amusing to him. They work together in two lines of work and so far Nick has proven to be a pretty good bro.
Rhuya Moui – He's fond of this one. They are generally on the same wavelengths about particular creepy individuals.
Camille Everardi – Most unexpected friendship to date. Their first few meetings resulted in some serious negative energy and tension. Now, however, he's probably shared more of himself with her than with anyone. Said he reminds her of her older brother.
Khuja'to Tayuun – Feels a particular older brother vibe. While he doesn't know Khuja that well, he is very drawn to protecting him.
Katriane Hiver – An old friend of Virella's. She seems to not like to believe him when he says he isn't upset by her on occasion. However, she has proven to be a really good friend so far, and he's putting a lot of trust into that.
Brianna Dunham – He considers her a little sister. Though, due to recent events, he is making it a point to not speak to her or her manslice.
Matthrian Gothmyr – Bri's manslice. Wants nothing to do with him currently.

● Acquaintances

Barengar Armsbreaker – A man he met in Limsa one day when he went to visit Virella. They've worked together on occasion and get along quite well. Domri both respects him and respects his talents. He also finds it a bit of a shame that they don't know each other better, though that is mostly Domri's fault.
Enla Kertuh – Domri likes Enla mostly because she seems to balance Nick out a bit in whatever manner. She has a good head on her shoulders and she is quite respectful. He doesn't know her well yet, and she has had the misfortune of meeting him at some of his not-so-great moments, but he intends to prove to her that he is not crazy and unstable.
Lucaell Tareth'eian – A musician he met in the streets of Ul'dah when he was dragged there to assist Vi on her errands. He doesn't seem to mind her and seems oddly interested in gaining her trust.
Kiera Hawkeye – They have only met a few times, though Domri intends to change that. He is greatly interested in getting to know her better and learn more about her son and her.
Izrikairin Rish – Rhuya's partner and Domri's coworker. He doesn't know much about him but in the few times they have interacted, Domri has grown a sort of protective vibe over him. For whatever reason, he feels quite compelled to protect him.
Aldaric Trevenchet – One of the handful of Ishgardians that Domri actually respects. He also enjoyed the opportunity they had to perform musically together. Despite whatever 'misunderstandings' happened, Domri actually holds no ill feelings towards the man. He actually wants to learn more about his experiences and life, oddly.
Caellene Graveless – He has no idea what she is in terms of race. She said she was Highlander, but she doesn't carry many of the qualities of one. Regardless, he likes how driven she is to learn things and actually likes to give her training advice. She's one of the few people that actually listens to him.
Francis Falke – Virella's childhood friend. Domri thinks him the only Ishgardian with a brain, though he is not sure if it counts because Francis isn't elezen. He thinks he is an entertaining, witty person and enjoys busting Vi's balls with him.
S'ereno Tia – His superior in one of his organizations. While he didn't hit it off well with the Miqo'te (which isn't surprising by Domri's track record), he managed to actually speak to him without emotions already running high. Domri is curious about his history.
Elros Ama'yeth – They haven't really talked much, but he's pretty neutral.
Keru Lowry – One of his coworkers. Not very comfortable with his medical practices regarding arrow removal.
