History

L'ashalia Bhen, daughter of Bhen Nunh, and member of the Viper tribe of the Seeker Miqo'te, was born approximately 13 years before the Calamity of Eorzea, though her exact place of birth remains unknown to her, though she theorizes she isn't a native to Eorzea itself. At 3 years old, L'ashalia was taken away from her tribe by her own mother who, unbeknownst to her, had killed the very Nunh that sired her daughter. For the coming years, L'ashalia and her mother constantly traveled, never remaining in a single spot for very long. L'ashalia never understood why her mother insisted they constantly travel, but she was constantly told that she had little choice in the matter; regardless of her mother's bossy nature, L'ashalia loved her dearly.

L'ashalia's mother died of illness when she was only 10 years old. Considering she had no home to call her own, nor any other family she knew of, the girl decided to continue the lifestyle she had been living; she remembered very little, if anything, of her home, and due to her mother's disapproval and distaste for the tribal lifestyle of the Miqo'te, L'ashalia made no effort to seek out the Viper Tribe. For the coming years, L'ashalia was forced to learn how to survive on her own, but with no gil, living was difficult - to deal with this, she often worked small jobs whenever she found a settlement, often trading her work for gil, food, shelter, or any sort of valuable tutelage.

Five years after the Calamity, L'ashalia began to yearn for a more stable, sensible lifestyle than simply trailing from place to place for no particular reason; knowing of no place she had previously visited she could call home, the Miqo'te opted to try a new place; Eorzea.

Personality

Prior to coming to Eorzea, L'ashlia never considered anyone she had met to be anything close to a friend; it's because of this that she has high expectations for anyone that would want to claim the title for themselves; she's generally a hard to please, hard to impress kind of girl. Because of this, she generally comes off as having a very guarded, defensive, and even cold exterior; having already lost the most important person in her life, it is possible that she has high expectations of potential friends because she doesn't want to suffer the pain again - although she would never admit it, she is more than aware of this, and despite her quirks, she tries her best to interact with others, socialize, and try to build actual relationships.

L'ashalia is a very emotional and opinionated person; she has the potential to care very deeply for others, should she ever be swayed to let them in, even to the point where she would do almost anything for them. Perhaps out of loneliness or desperation, L'ashalia yearns for someone to be close to and confide into, despite her natural instincts being completely contradictory.

She does have a more playful side to her, however. L'ashalia takes great pleasure in teasing and tormenting others for the sake of fun, but often she comes across more offensive or intimidating to some people; additionally, some people perceive L'ashalia to be a violent person due to her habit of threatening or actually hitting people if they were able of getting on her nerves (which is normally an easy feat to accomplish considering her short fuse; however, her strikes in this situation are generally more of the playful variety, and rarely go beyond a dead-arm or leg.) - on the other hand, L'ashalia dislikes being at the receiving end of torment, and will usually respond with childish retorts and stutters. The same can be said about men; having never been courted or shown interest by a man, she is highly uncomfortable with being on the receiving end of flirting, if she's aware that the conversation is actually flirting - generally, this effect is more significant if L'ashalia is physically attracted to the man in question.

Skills & Abilities

Hand-to-Hand Combat

L'ashalia has never received any sort of formal training from an official in a particular Guild, but she has received training in several different skills during her travels, mostly so she would be able to defend and care for herself. During the early years of her travels without her mother, L'ashalia learned to fight in order to defend herself from both monsters, beasts, and bandits who would threaten her in the open roads and plains. Her favored form of fighting is bare-handed; while she is not an official Pugilist, she excels at fighting empty handed, and is capable of fighting an armed assailant with nothing but her fists; as an added perk of being a Miqo'te, the musculature of her legs is above average of other races, giving her kicks a more devastating boost. Despite her skill, however, she is no master of martial combat.

Magic

Initially, L'ashalia showed little interest in learning magic from her mother, but some time after her death, she realized that having another useful skill in her arsenal would prove to be valuable should her other skills prove to be no use. L'ashalia possesses a fundamental understanding of using aether to use magic, but has been reluctant to learn anything beyond basic level healing magic; the limits of her magical prowess includes being able to tend basic wounds, heal lesser ailments, and at her very peak, create very basic magical fields to protect herself - the use of magic is generally fatiguing for her.

Other Skills

For the most part, L'ashalia is good at analyzing people, at least from a strategic point of view - in combat situations, she is fairly skilled at analyzing a monster or person's fighting style and come up with the appropriate countermeasures to minimize any damage or risk. She is also skilled at styling hair, sewing up old clothes to main them wearable, and tormenting people.
