INTRO TEXT

Appearance

Nysarias is a fairly tall Miqo'te (nearly capping the height meter) and maintains a feminine posture despite all of the training she claims to have done, and continues to do. Her skin is a moderate tan and encases a curvaceous and lithe muscle system underneath; she has plenty of brawn, but isn't a walking hulk. Nysa's skin, from regular care of lotions, is rather soft and smooth feeling, despite her rough living-style. Nysa's hair is usually kept short above her shoulders and is silky smooth from regular washing and conditioning; her hair style and color are subject to change at any time. Her eyes are an emerald green color, and appear to glow eerily in specific lighting. The rest of her face was kept unmasked from make-up, but has a few blemished scars. The first and most noticeable is a cut that runs from Nysa's right cheekbone going down at a 310 degree angle to her jawline and stops there (angle was made by picturing a circle on the side of Nysa's face and picking said angle). The second one is just a short cut across the bridge of her nose (as seen in-game). Nysa's torso could be considered one of her most attractive features, her rather wide shoulders giving slightly to the wide torso that accommodates Nysa's rather large breasts (for a Miqo). Her body then narrows to her sides and stomach area, although then keeps going mostly straight to her small hip width. Nysa has a long tail for a Seeker, the tip of it hovering just above the ground when not in use, otherwise its swishing about carelessly. Nysarias's legs are large and muscular naturally, but Nysa emphasized on her race's naturally strong legs and have conditioned them further. Probably the most hulking muscle mass upon Nysa's body, but they still appear lithe and elegant. Don't take the appearance for granted, as they do pack quite the kick. Generally training or up to some kind of adventure, Nysa is generally geared in her custom Temple cyclas, a slight ringing of chain mail coming from the leather. Other gear includes the plated Darklight armor, or a training harness, subligar, caligae and plated gloves. Back to usual equipment! Nysa always has two sets of Magitek gear upon her at all times, a pair on her hips that, when drawn, unfold and encase her hands with densely plated gloves; these gloves are loaded with Magitek shells, able to fire what is basically a dragonfire shotgun blast, just without the pellets (these gauntlets are equipped if Darklight Gauntlets are seen in-game.) The other Magitek she wears are on her feet, the boots densely plated like the gloves and have pressure plates upon them that absorb pressure and then said pressure can be discharged through the bottom of her boots to propel herself, or a kick forward (Darklight boots equipped = magitek unfolded and ready). The last thing is the bandanna on Nysa's head. She wears said bandanna in public almost all of the time and never takes it off. The base of the bandanna looks like some kind of stretchy material, and doesn't seem to be an original part of the bandanna; the rest of the cloth appears as usual, but the stitches on the base makes it seem that the top cloth was added on. The last last thing is a plate belt the wraps around Nysa's waist, an opening in it just behind her right hip; from the looks of the opening, its supposed to hold something within.

History

Nysa's 26 year long life started within her father's tribe deep in Southern Thanalan; this tribe was made-up of pugilists, archers and thaumaturges, and took each tree of training very seriously. Nysarias was the second child conceived from Y'na, Y'lrah Nunh's mate. Y'na, being a well versed Thaumaturge quickly discovered that Y'sa withheld a very strong Aether and wished for her to become a Thaumaturge as well. Y'lrah Nunh refused and placed his daughter into the Pugilist training classes. Y'sa was a natural, quickly excelling in mastering her Aether and able to use it to empower her physical attacks and movement. Y'khul Tia, Y'sa's brother, and herself had a very close relationship. The two siblings spent most of their free time together, always up to mischevious plots and adventures. At the age of twelve, Y'sa went to a training match outside of camp for her graduation class; she passed, beating her foes easily. Her father had joined the group to watch, and while praising her, the group was set upon by a swarm of Sand Worms. The class trainer, Y'vah, was killed by a Sand Worm coming up from underneath her feet. Y'lrah Nunh slew the worm and then told the others to run to camp. Y'sa fell behind and was attacked by a larger sand worm. Y'sa took a short tumble down a sand dune and found herself stuck in the sand, the worm hovering above her and savoring its kill. Before it could strike, Y'sa's father pulls her from danger and slays the worm. The two return to camp an hour later to find it in chaos, the other trainees having made it back and alerted the camp. Y'lrah Nunh took Y'sa home and laid her down to sleep. When Y'sa awoke after reliving the event within a nightmare, she gets up and heads to her brother's room, seeking comfort from him. Instead, she finds the room empty and decides to sleep in his bed; finding safety in just that, she dozes off. Not long later, Y'sa awakens to the sounds of scuffling in her parents room. Y'sa rises and heads for the room, finding her brother atop her mother, plunging a dagger deep into her throat; Y'lrah Nunh was lying still in the bed, prone and killed in his sleep. Y'khul approached Y'sa, but couldn't muster the nerve to kill her and instead sends her to Ul'dah upon her chocobo Rahki. Nysa and Rahki reach Ul'dah the next morning, exhausted and lost. Y'sa stops Rahki just outside one of the gates, near the refugee camps, and falls asleep. She's awoken several hours later by two men worried about Y'sa's health. The two are introduced as Ron and Ralph, Ron being the father of Ralph. Ron, being older, mistakens Y'sa's full name as Nysa Y'lrah. This doesn't do much but confuse Y'sa slightly as Ralph hands her plenty of bread for her and Rahki and the two leave. Y'sa follows them and finds out the two run a small merchant business and decides to help them, taking on the name Nysarias Ylrah. Nysa works with the two for the next year, increasing their business in popularity with the help of Nysa's chocobo by giving them means of transport to the surrounding cities and outposts in Thanalan. During one of said trips to Camp Drybone, Nysa is abducted by a group of slave drivers and taken to their camp. Ron and Ralph discover the camp and confront the group openly, demanding Nysa's release. Nysa watches as a fight breaks out between Ron, Ralph and the slave drivers, cutting her bonds with a nearby knife in time to join the fray. Nysa watches as the two men are killed in the fight, and in return kills every one of the slavers, being left to weep among the scattered bodies. Nysa then musters the resolve to return to the stall she had worked at with Rahki, silently vowing to never get close to someone again. For the next three years, Nysa lives as a pickpocket, stalking about the market plazas and stealing a few coins from each merchants' pocket to get her and Rahki by with enough food and water for each day. Nysa knew they weren't living a cushioned life, but they always had enough food and water to get them by, and Nysa made any needed repairs on the stall to give them shelter. Then one day, in the fall, a number of Ala Mighan merchants arrived in Ul'dah, selling their merchandise cheaper than most of the other merchants. Nysa visited the stall and purchased a large blanket for herself and Rahki to share. Within a few days of purchasing it, Nysa started to feel sick and sneaked into the Alchemist's Guild for a medical evaluation. She's told that she has a severe sickness that originated in Ala Migho and won't live much longer at the rate of the symptoms she was having; she's also told that they have the antibiotics for the disease, but it isn't cheap. Desperate and needing a way out, Nysa goes to the Quicksand, the Adventurers' Guild hub, and picks out a pocket to steal from. A small group of armored men sat nearby, boasting about their successful adventure and how much wealth they had. Nysa picked out the leader, a Roegadyn, and approached. The Roegadyn caught her, and told her it wasn't nice to steal. Ignoring the banter from his comrades, he takes note of Nysa's condition and purchased the medicine for her, and in return, Nysa had to become his pupil at the Gladiators' Guild. Nysa agrees and joins the Roegadyn, who goes by the name Bear. ((WIP, will add more later!))

Personality

Nysarias generally walks around with a slight smile on her face and is open to meeting new people; she's quick to trust and call someone a friend, even if they've only known one another for a few days. Nysa tends to poke and prod at her friends with jibes to test their bounds, and to just make fun. She also enjoys drinking with her friends for it is one of her favorite pass times, and who else to spend it with then her friends? Nysa also tends to delve into many adventures, dangerous or not, in search of that adventurous feel, rather for treasure or wealth. In general, Nysa is resilient to insults and jeering, lest its coming from a close friend--if that were to occur, she'd take it to heart. Combat wise, Nysa has a steeled temper and keeps her cool in a rough situation, channeling her rage and anger into her attacks, making her a precise and fully-aware fighter. Additionally, Nysa is watchful of the battle field when friends, or even other allies are on it, taking the responsibility of protecting them upon herself and will throw herself into the way of harm to do so.

Affiliations and Known Associates

Castus Allard: One of the first men Nysa met and got close too when she first awoke from her five year coma. The two shared a close relationship, but after awhile, the two became further and further apart. The two sparred in La Noscea a few months ago, and that was the last time Nysa's seen him.

Zanzariel Zalazny: The next man in line to become close to Nysa. The roegadyn warrior was first met when he and his friends made their free company, Order of Ravenstar. Nysa approached, gently punching against Zanz's armor, claiming she did that because she made a bet with a friend. At first, Zanz and Nysa didn't notice one another, and it would be about two weeks until they did take note of one another. The two become close within just a week or two and 'date' for several months. After awhile, Zanz started disappearing for weeks at a time, and Nysa continued to make new friends and the two drifted further and further apart. At one point, Zanz proposed to Nysa, but she refused, believing that a dedicated relationship wasn't for her, but in reality she thought it wasn't for Zanz, due to his jagged appearances. Nysa hasn't seen Zanz since she turned down his proposal.

Sigard Piercetes: Sigard was an archer that caught Nysa's eye in the Quicksands one night, not because he was attractive, but because he was lost. The man looked around the tavern and appeared to have no idea where he was at, so Nysa approached. She learned that Sigard was a new adventurer, and she offered to help him on his adventures. The two become close friends in the following months, meeting up to do hunts and explorations. Then one day, without a word, Sigard vanishes. Nysa was sad that he disappeared, and continues to search for him to this day.

Aran Cairnspell: Aran Cairnspell is a lalafell Black Mage that Nysa met when she discovered the free company called FATE. Although she knew all of them as friends, Aran was the only one that stuck around and became one of Nysa's closest friends. Whenever she seeks solace, emotional support, or even just someone to talk too, she looks for Aran. Always being there for her, Nysa feels she should do the same for him, occasionally visiting him to make sure he's doing alright.

Aaron Glacier: Nysa met Aaron through one of Aaron's friends, who shortly disappeared after greeting the two, and she was astounded by his pessimistic behavior. She looked upon the snow-haired man and saw a great amount of potential, and attempted to get him to realize this potential. She failed, several times, and ended up avoiding Aaron for his childish and immature behavior. However, she always found herself talking to him within the Quicksand and generated a friendship with him that was like the ocean tide, matching Aaron's fluctuating personality. Aaron's inconsiderate nature infuriates her, even driving her to attack him at one point shortly after a fight with Niklas Gran, in which Nysa struck her head after tackling Niklas off a waterfall in Thanalan; Nysa's sudden anger and rash action along with the head injury caused her to black out. After that, Nysa stopped caring about what Aaron did, preferring to just ignore his behavior and jibe at it. Despite their volatile friendship, Nysa still considers him a close friend, and would do anything for him, within reason.

Camy Laykk: Camy was met within the Quicksand one night, and although her and Nysa didn't speak much at first, they'd become rather close friends in the future. They've only gone an adventure or two together, Nysa considers Camy the sister she never had.

Elizabith Dyre (NPC): Elizabith is Nysa's hyur ex-retainer that was fired recently for endangering Nysa and her friends' lives by summoning a powerful void born wraith named Lug'zan. Ever since her job termination the woman has disappeared, occasionally causing mischief or havoc on Nysa and her friends. It seems to be simple revenge, but Nysa doesn't give all of the info openly.

Other Notes

Religion

Nysarias grew up in a Seeker tribe that was very religious, the entire tribe gathering several times a week to pray and hail the Sun Goddess, Azeyma. As a Pugilist of the tribe, Nysa was taught to meditate and to focus her Aether upon the diety to induce visions from Azeyma that were believed to be fore-warnings of the future. There were many times over that Nysa performed this meditation, and the omens 'sent' by Azeyma came true, and so Nysa is devout to the Sun Goddess, praying and meditating when seeking guidance. Nysa doesn't speak much, nor debate about her religion, keeping it to herself like a virtue rather a point of view.

Quirks

Nysarias's biggest quirk is her addiction to alcohol. Despite being susceptible to its intoxicating effects, Nysa continues to drink it, from the weakest mead to the strongest grog.

Equipment

Nysa's battle equipment varies upon the gear she wears in-game. Any of the Temple Cyclases she wears are a leather chest piece with chainmail in between the two leather 'plates'. When wearing the Darklight armor, she is as seen in game: Wearing dense plating and leather harness. Her signature equipment is on her head, hands and feet! Magitek Gear: Upon Nysa's hands and feet, when in combat (or Darklight gear is seen), is custom-magitek equipment. The gear looks precise and clean, but with a slight steam punk appearance. On the gauntlets are two cylinders around the forearm area that spin and click like a revolver cylinder; these cylinders also open at two places, a disposal chamber on the bottom, and a receiving chamber on the top. Common sense should explain what those two do. The boots look a bit more robotic than the gauntlets, and the shinguard appears as a pressure plate, and it recoils upon striking a target, but it stops at a certain extent. The pressure absorbed by this plate can then be expelled out of the bottom of her boots to propel herself forward, making Flash Stepping easier, or to propel a kick forward. Bandanna: Nysa is always wearing a black bandanna on her head that appears to be two separate articles of clothing stitched together. The piece around her head looks as if its a headband of sorts with a bandanna-like cloth stitched along it. Whatever the hell it is, Nysa wears it majority of the time and keeps it close when not in use. Just don't try to take it.

Rumours

The following rumours can be heard about Nysarias Ylrah, predominantly in Ul'dah and Thanalan. (If your character has an opinion about her, feel free to add it here.)

Common rumours

  • See that Miqo'te woman there? The seeker in the black bandanna? Talk to her if you want a free drink and a good chat.
  • That woman, the Miqo'te there, comes here often, but never buys any drinks. Perhaps her strongest drink is juice, hah!
  • That seeker woman there has some nice clothing, if you get what I mean. No, really, she has some nice clothing.

Uncommon rumours

  • Hm...the gear on that woman's hips...and feet...they look familiar.
  • See that Miqo'te monk over there? I've seen her causing fire to explode from her fists! HER FISTS!
  • That woman there has some jewels for eyes--look at them! They look just like a pair of rubies!"

Rare rumours

  • That Miqo'te...she has a smile on her face, but I sense something...haunts her.
  • Whoa--d-did you see that?...That woman has a shadow stalking her...

OOC Inspirations

One of the biggest inspirations for Nysa was one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters, Tifa Lockhart. For the most part, Nysa only has one thing from Tifa, and that's the ability to flash step. As for Nysa's "Aetherbrawling", you can link it to to the omni-element bender called the Avatar, but that wasn't my original thought when I came up with the idea. Still, its there!
