OOC Note
Flavour text has been added where in-game quests cause you to deal with Bahamut. Oniyuri has never fought, seen, or been exposed to the Elder Primal, and thus cannot tap into its power. She has only ever fought Leviathan, but since we do not have a Leviathan-egi, nor is she able to call Garuda, Ifrit, and Titan, liberties have been taken with some descriptions. Additionally, Oniyuri will never be able to learn any healing abilities outside of Sustain for her summons. On a final note, her limit break is powerful. It's supposed to be, but best case scenario is it'll cause her to fall unconscious for one to three days. Worst case scenario is using it will kill her. This is an ability she has only ever used once.

History
Disclaimer: Age is a relative guess to the advances of the story from patch 2.2 with Leviathan to path 4.5. No actual timeline is given, yet it would feel odd that everything has happened during the course of a literal year.
Sixth Astral Era
Childhood
Oniyuri was born in a small village nestled against the mountains in Doma that seemed to be perpetually surrounded by mists. Her father had been a farmer since he was a child, and a native of the village. Her mother had come from a village closer to the coasts of Doma, and worked as a seamstress later in her life. As a younger woman, she was trained in the ways of magic, though never outwardly showed her aptitude due to the Garlean occupation of Doma. In 1556 of the Eorzean calender, Oniyuri was born as the only child to Ujio and Kaede. At the age of six, she began showing signs of being able to manipulate aether, leading her mother to teach her young daughter. These lessons would quietly continue into the Umbral age.

Seventh Umbral Era
Adulthood
Even after the Calamity, Oniyuri continued to assist her family, as well as continue her lessons. She had learned the basics of Thaumaturgy, and was learning Arcanamedia from her mother in the manner she herself had learned. For ten years, young Oniyuri trained, practiced, and learned the basics of weaving. Aside from all this, life was relatively normal, or as normal as it could be living under Garlean rule.

In Recent Times
With the defeat of the Garlean advance into Eorzea by the Grand Alliance, the resistance movement of Doma saw their chance to break away from the Empire, winning their freedom. The retribution delivered by Garlemald was swift and merciless as they razed the entire city-state. The Domans barely had time to flee as Garlemald razed their lands to the ground, ruining the city-state. Numerous times the small group from Mist were caught, forced to either fight or die. These encounters proved to be the first time Oniyuri brought her magic to bear against another living being, as well as nearly dying due to the ruthlessness of the Garleans. Eventually, out of nearly a hundred souls to actually escape Mist, less than twenty made it to where the others were meeting up. It was the first, and far from the last time, that Oniyuri would see the ocean.

Oniyuri lost track of how long they sailed. All she knows is by the time they reached land, what supplies they had with them had practically ran out food and fresh water. The events from the landing in Horizon to finally ending up in Limsa Lominsa are a bit of a blur for the young woman. What is known is that it was during this time that she met Fleeting Dawn, a Roegadyn recruiting individuals for a campaign against the Sahagin, and more importantly, Leviathan. Having taken a queue from other Au Ra early on, Oniyuri kept her face, and as much of her body hidden behind a mask and robes. Through no small amount of begging and pleading, she was able to join the group moving directly against the Lord of Whorls. This was the first time she heard the term "Warrior of Light," but to this day can tell you nothing about the person, as she knows not which member of the group this warrior was, if they were even present to begin with. To her, though, it is of no importance. The fight itself was ruthless and chaotic, and should she be asked, Oniyuri will shyly tell someone that she spent more time scrambling across the deck, attempting to avoid being killed while her Carbuncle fought on. In the end, they won, and unbeknownst to her at the time, she was showered in the aetherial essence of Leviathan.

After the defeat of the Lord of Whorls, the Doman refugees eventually found their way to Mor Dhona, setting up in the budding Revanant's Toll. A few stayed, while many more scattered to the corners of Eorzea, looking to settle in the land that would eventually become home. Among those that stayed, Oniyuri was one of them. It didn't take her long to find her way down to the campsite of the Sons of Saint Conach, her natural curiosity and willingness to help earning her a place with the others. Many a night was spent looking over various discovered documents while staring at the Crystal Tower, an edifice that still instills a sense of awe and wonder. One afternoon, Oniyuri and another worker discovered a small cache of soulstones, with one resonating with the young Doman, much to the surprise of everyone. It was soon discovered that the soulstone that resonated with her did not have a lot of knowledge stored within, leaving her to pour over copies of documents and other material found to understand how Summoning works. In the two years since, she has discovered only two abilities, though when she can, she tries to procure what information she can.

Nearly a year after arriving in Eorzea, her own wanderlust kicked in, causing Oniyuri to head back to Limsa Lominsa. She found the region called La Noscea on the isle of Vylbrand to hold everything she loved in nature, and soon became a regular roaming the isle. One night, she chanced upon a small group of Sahagin along the coastline. Expecting a fight, she was surprised when one of them stepped forward and held up a hand, as well as spoke. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she spent several minutes speaking with the group, learning that not all Sahagin followed the ill-fated ways of the Lord of Whorls, and that they merely wanted peace. Knowing first-hand the damage war could cause, she began helping the small clutch, and steadily came to call several of them friends over the next few months. Amoung the Sahagin, Oniyuri had finally felt safe, and opted to not wear her mask or hide her form. Though surprised, the Sahagin clutch accepted her all-the-same. On the day she left to finally return back to the 'civilized world,' she was given two gifts. First, a pair of rings that when worn together, cast a glamour over her to make her appear as a hyur. When she asked why the Sahagin had never worn them, they simply held up their hands, and she understood. The members of the clutch had found them in the wreckage of a ship, and while not knowing what they did at first, offered them to the young Doman as a gift to remember them. To this day, she still wears one of the rings, while the other is kept in a pocket in her sleeve. The second gift was a grimoire with the likeness of Leviathan etched upon the cover. Oniyuri had initially attempted to politely refuse the gifts, but the clutch was persistent, eventually telling her that the grimoire cost them "many shells, and they would be offended if she did not take." Like the rings, the Au Ra still has the grimoire, and has become a cherished book that has aided her innumerable times.

Eventually, her wanderlust kicked back in, leading her to the Black Shroud and the city-state of Gridania. Along the way, she met several individuals, though not all pleasant, most were at least helpful. For a short time, she had joined the Harbringers of Dawn, learning about the Shroud, more of the history of Eorzea, and furthered her studies with magic. While staying in Gridania proper, she would meet the one group that would eventually bring a change in her life. Vhalken Leingod was larger than life itself. A Highlander nearly as tall as most Elezen, the Hyur was practically a god to Oniyuri. By sheer luck, she had overheard him and a few others talking at a table about going to Coerthas, and Ishgard. Not having traveled that far north yet, she someone managed to earn herself a place in the troupe, though much to the dismay of the resident Elezen, Galaihaurat Oraguille.

Two days later, the group set off for Coerthas. Oniyuri, unfortunately, had fallen behind, though was able to catch up with little difficulty. While there, she came to know Laila Hart and Telithea Engel. The three hit it off quickly, and quickly fell into a fast friendship. She would also come to know Galaihaurat's sister, Shanarah Oraguille, whom some could attribute to being the first person the young Au Ra had a crush on. While camping out at Camp Dragonhead, and trying to figure out how to earn the favour required to pass through the gates into Ishgard proper, the group overheard reports that Garuda had been summoned once more by the Ixal. Thinking that this was their ticket in, the band of adventurers set off. The battles fought just to reach Garuda were nightmarish, but none of it prepared them for the onslaught the primal herself would unleash upon the band. Whether by stroke of luck or grace of the gods, they survived. Oniyuri was, sadly, unable to assist in the fight, and instead relied upon the summoned forms of elemental kami to help keep the hostile Ixali away from the others fighting Garuda. Nearly overwhelmed by sheer numbers, Oniyuri summoned a dragon made of mist that quickly ended the assault, but resulted in her passing out for several days. She has not attempted a summoning of such scale since.

Of note, it was during the first battle against the Ixal that the others saw Oniyuri without her glamour, as the stress of combat would cause the rings to temporarily cease working. Confusion and heated words were said, but put to the side to complete the task they came for. Galaihaurat seemed disturbed by both her appearance, and having witnessed her summoning of the mist dragon, her abilities. The two spent hours talking, with Oniyuri coming to understand Ishgardian hatred of dragons, with him coming to understand that she was not a heretic, nor a dragon. She would come to learn that when Vhalken and Galaihaurat went to tell of their deeds, she was shocked to learn that the Ishgardians cared not for what they did, for they felt as though the Ixal, and their Primal, were of no consequence to them. It was during this time that Vishap was felled, as well, and not long after, the gates of Ishgard opened to adventurers and sellswords under the premise that they would assist in the Dragonsong War...
Moving Forward (Under Construction)

In the months since Ishgard opened her gates to the outside world, Oniyuri has bore witness to the drastic changes within. In the early days, she spent most of her time in the Western Highlands, assisting mainly at Falcon's Rest before moving on to the Dravanian Forelands. It is there she has spent the majority of her time, eventually joining the Vath Adventurer's Guild and assisting them over to current day, where she still takes whatever odd job comes up.

OOC Note: Oniyuri has encountered a lot more people than those listed herein. These individuals, for whatever reason, for better or for worse, stick out the most in her mind, and are more easily recalled from memory.
Family

✔✝ Tsukashima Ujio - Oniyuri's father had been a farmer since childhood. It was all he knew, but he was good at it. An exceptionally tall Raen, he was perhaps the most patient man Oniyuri has ever met, for not once did she ever see him become angry. (( Status: Deceased - Died when the Garleans attacked Mist. ))
✔✝ Tsukashima Kaede - Oniyuri's mother settled into the life of a housewife and seamstress, though in her younger days had been a pupil to a foreign Arcanist. It was these lessons that she passed on to her daughter. (( Status: Deceased - Died trying to defend Mist from the Garlean reprisal.

Acquaintances

♦ Faye Covington: A Hyur of noble birth, Ms. Covington has always been kind and gentle towards Oniyuri, even after finding out that she was an Au Ra. To date, Ms. Covington is one of the few people left that Oniyuri feels she can call friend, even though the two women do not speak very often.
● Val_Nunh: A Miqo'te of the Seeker of the Sun tribe, Oniyuri was always intimidated by the lover of Ms. Covington. Still, he has never treated her poorly.
♦ Raisan Arcmantle: One of the few Lalafels that Oniyuri has had a chance to truly get to know, Mr. Arcmantle has ever been the friend to Oniyuri. Between his efforts at helping the Doman feel at ease, in addition to his mentorship in the art of weaving, Raisan is the one that truly made Oniyuri feel at home with the Harbingers of Dawn. In addition to being akin to an uncle-figure, Oniyuri will always see Mr. Arcmantle as a true friend, one of the few people alive on Eorzea that she does.
✔ Ashelle Viediere: One of the nicer Ishgardians Oniyuri has spoken with. The two hit off on a positive note, despite (or in spite of) racial tensions with the perception that Au Ra are dragonkin. The two have agreed to keep in touch by way of Moogle Mail, with Oniyuri hoping to meet the knight again.
♦ Nalli Blythe: One of the few Xaela that Oniyuri has gotten to know, Nalli has always been a sympathetic ear for the young Raen. Oniyuri considers her a true friend, and is one of only a few people that she thinks this way about.
● Armont De'bayle: A Temple Knight of Ishgard, Oniyuri has had only one dealing with the Elezen. Though the single encounter was tense with racial prejudice, the Au Ra holds the gentleman no ill will, and actually hopes to meet him again one day under friendly terms.

Former Acquaintances

♦ Laila Hart: She, along with Telithea Engel, helped make Oniyuri feel at home in Vhalken's group. The three of them quickly got along, and began an endless game of tormenting Vhalken when possible with jokes and pranks. Sadly, since learning that she was a Garlean citizen, she has not been seen in several moons, leaving Oniyuri to wonder about her fate.
♦ Telithea Engel: She, along with Laila Hart, helped make Oniyuri feel at home in Vhalken's group. The three of them quickly got along, and began an endless game of tormenting Vhalken when possible with jokes and pranks. Telithea disappeared shortly after the group managed to enter into Ishgard proper under suspect circumstances, and to this day Oniyuri does not know what happened to her.
♦ Vhalken Leingod: A Highlander that seemed larger than life, Vhalken was the engine that drove the group forward with an irrepressible and contagious zeal for life and adventure. Oniyuri lost track of Vhalken shortly after Telithea disappeared, though she had heard that he lost one of his arms in a fight. She suspects he may have retired somewhere.
♦ Galaihaurat Oraguille: An Elezen of Wildwood decent, Galaihaurat was always stoic and pragmatic, yet polite. As Vhalken was the force driving everyone forward, the Ishgard-born knight was the firm rock upon which all of them could rely on, both in and out of combat. Oniyuri has lost track of the noble knight, but thinks of him fondly.
❣ Shanarah Oraguille: An Elezen of Wildwood decent, Shanarah is Galaihaurat's sister. Polite, yet a bit haughty at times, the lady of House Oraguille is the first person that Oniyuri developed a crush on. Unfortunately, the attraction did not blossom as Oniyuri quickly found out that Shanarah had given her heart to a hyur named Leriff. Oniyuri has since lost track of Lady Oraguille, but always thinks of her fondly.

Deceased

✝Fleeting Dawn: Female Roegadyn that assisted Oniyuri in being selected to assist in the battle against Leviathan. Assigned to help distract the Sahagin elsewhere. Last known report has the ship she was on with all hands lost.

RP Limits
I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios, but even I have my limits. If something is on the play list, assume it means yes, as long as it's within the context of the current play or ongoing plot. No's are typically a hard no, and it means don't ask.

RP Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. Longer plots that are meant to run for more than a few quick RP's, please feel free to send me a tell so we can work out a good reason for our characters to get to know one another. I'm always looking for RP, unless I'm actively spamming PvE content.

Player Note
There is a lot of information on this character wiki, but it is by no means completely comprehensive. There are chunks of backstory that are left intentionally vague so that details can be later added as developed through creative writing or in role-play revelation. Feel free to use Common or Uncommon rumors freely, if you want to use a Rare Rumor as a plot hook or to spark RP, I would ask that you send me a tell first, to make certain it's alright.
Character Lore Adherence
Everything concerning this character that has not been confirmed by in-game lore should be taken with a grain of salt. Anything that has had to be changed because of lore shifting will be noted below.
■ In-game model has normal hands, shortened tail, no sign of elongated incisors, nor do female Au Ra have scales trailing down the back (unlike male Au Ra).
Character Concept
Oniyuri is a combined concept from an idea from the old AOL Chat Room days and paying homage to Rydia of Final Fantasy IV. There are a number of elements about her that I have tried to incorporate, all while trying to stay true to the lore presented to us for Final Fantasy XIV.
