Name
Full Name: R'tchon Nunh
Nicknames: Tchon ("Shawn", by most non-Miqo'te)
Pronunciation: Rue-tch-awn noon
Origins: Since coming to Ul'dah, he rarely uses the tribe letter in his name except when dealing with other Miqo'te. Most of the other races in Ul'dah also mispronounce his name, and he has long since stopped trying to correct them, and even introduces himself using the mispronounced name when speaking with the other races of Eorzea since he expects them to get it wrong anyway.
Appearance
Height: ~5'7"
Weight: ~180 ponz
Body: Curiously well-built for a Miqo'te, with impressively built arm and chest muscles lending great upper body strength, though the resto f him is equally impressive.
Hair: Brown, braided
Eyes: Gold
Skin: Tanned
Clothing: Tends to gravitate toward earthen tones, with a notably cheap look to the material.
Marks: Typical Miqo'te markings.
History
The history of this man began decades before the Calamity, but little of that has any bearing now. He was once a nunh to a small Raptor tribe, having managed to dethrone the former nunh through strategy as much as strength, barely into adulthood. It is through this intellect, this mind for strategy, that he managed to evade similar attempts for the next decade. He fathered many children in that time, and even worked to lead the tribe occasionally; the tribe's leadership had an uncanny knack for accidents, curiously.
But it was all wasted effort. For all his hard work, in all respects, the Calamity washed it all away in a sea of flame. He was left with only vestiges of the tribe – himself, a handful of children, and a few females. They left their hunting grounds, their home, and joined a band of refugees headed for safer regions. Instead, they made their way to Ul'dah.
The city was a safe haven, of course, and it was there that the refugees found food, shelter, and the care they required. But such things only last a short while. The need to work for food, drink, and shelter became apparent; this was merely one of the first lessons that the vestiges of a tribe needed to learn and adapt to.
Now, five years later, they have changed and adapted – perhaps more than they would have liked to. Tchon (“Shawn”, as pronounced by most other races) works as a bruiser of sorts for a local, small-timer who likes to think of himself as a crime boss. His three mates do their part as well – as a weaver, a leatherworker, and a cook. And, of course, the children mainly just remain underfoot, having taken their cues from the street urchins they integrated with over the years to become a general nuisance.
Much of their values have changed since coming to Ul'dah. The tribe's traditions and laws seem so distant now, and the various customs and such that they encounter on a daily basis have forever corrupted everything they used to value. Even the relationship between the nunh and his females is twisted. If anything, it remains only a marriage of convenience. The Roegadyn landlady from which they rent their apartment from has been a constant source of rebellion for the three women, giving them notions of refusing sex and ensuring that he remain the “bread winner”. He has not fathered a child with them in at least three years, yet he still goes out of his way to knock the sense back into the occasional male Miqo'te that passes by and notices something of an opportunity there.
Of course, he cannot keep an eye on them all the time. He has frequently had to leave the city for weeks at a time, and has yet to return to news of them being pregnant, so perhaps he has nothing to worry about. He hopes so, at least.
Traits
Areas of Expertise
- Martial: Hand-to-Hand Combat (Very High)
- Crafts: Carpenting (Moderate), Fishing (Moderate), Botany (Moderate)
Strengths
- Hand-to-Hand Fighter: He is extremely proficient with hand-to-hand combat, with both bare hands and fist weapons. The natural agility of the Miqo'te, combined with well-developed strength, has made him exceptional against a large variety of opponents, even those like the Roegadyn that tend to have greater strength.
- 'Tactical Mind: He has had a great mind for strategy from a young age, which was part of his ability to claim and hold the title of nunh. This remains true to this day, as he leads a small band of bruisers in their work for a small-time crime boss, and have so far managed to escape most scrapes with few injuries and without any trouble with the law.
- Supported: For all their faults, mostly gained since coming to live in Ul'dah, his females continue to support him when they choose to (or when gifts are involved). They provide him with clothing, leather goods, and food through their respective occupations.
