Rafael Averra

Nicknamed the 'Old Mother Hen' by those that he served with, Rafael has long been in the habit of placing the needs and safety of others ahead of his own. The concept of self-sacrifice for the good of others was a lesson that he took to heart from a young age and followed faithfully. Never was the trait more apparent than in the care he showed to his younger siblings. Ten summers older than Darian and a full fifteen summers older than Callisto, Rafael has been just as much a father as an older brother to the pair. So much so, in fact, that half of the time he seems to believe as much himself.

As a knight, Rafael trained tirelessly in defense of his home and the people who lived there. At the age of twenty-five summers, he was named captain of his own small unit. However, Rafael's acid tongue earned him the ire of several other higher ranking knights. It was that ire that eventually lead to his unit being chosen to protect a small village in the Coerthan Highlands with only ten men. What was meant to be a mission to chastise Rafael with ignominy instead became a life or death struggle as the village was attacked by a group of heretics and an aevis.

Though victorious against their foes, the small village was razed to the ground in dragon's flames. As such, Rafael and his men settled to lead the now homeless villagers to safety. During their evacuation, they were set upon once more, this time by a wyvern. Making note of the gorge nearby, Rafael hatched a desperate plan. Instructing his men to continue on with the villagers, he opted to remain behind to contend with the beast. The struggle ended with both Rafael and the wyvern falling into the gorge. Though he survived the fall, Rafael was loathe to return to Ishgard, instead opting to spend the next ten summers wandering the land. Only recently returned to Ishgard upon hearing news of his younger brother's own return, Rafael has reluctantly resumed his position as vidame of House Averra.

Particular Traits: A scar cuts diagonally across his forehead, as well as each cheek. Tattoos adorn his left arm, chest and side. A black ear clip adorns each ear, imprinted with the Averra crest.

Voice: In normal conversation, his voice is a quiet baritone. Years in Limsa have worn away his Ishgardian accent.

Clothing Style: Outside of his armor, Rafael prefers comfortable tunics and trousers in shades of blue or brown.
