GENERAL INFORMATION

Sana Zhwan, a mid-aged Keeper, left her home in the Southern area of the Black Shroud one day seeking training and knowledge in the arts of Thaumaturgy. She was a frequent sight in Thaumaturgist guild for a few months doing menial tasks, but never seen in any classes. Whenever she isn't traveling about her nose is stuck in a book of theory or spells related to the Thaumaturgical arts and aether. On occasion she can be found in the company of her younger brother and sister.


APPEARANCE

Sana has dark colored hair and skin that, either through a rare mutation or recessive genetic trait, has a bluish coloring reminiscent to the late or early morning twilight hours. Her hair falls about shoulder length in both the front and back with light colored highlights illuminating her face. She normally carries herself proudly and confidently wherever she goes that can give off a haughty feeling to people meeting her the first time. She dresses highly conservatively showing off as little skin as possible even at places where more revealing clothing would be common. Those near to her, or passing, would smell scents similar to the woodlands of the Black Shroud, a scent she seeks to emulate ever since she left home. If she can be seen without clothing covering her back there is a long and wide burn scar from her left shoulder down to her right hip.


PERSONALITY

Tenacious, Persevering, Mothering, Protective. Practical. To everyone, including her siblings, Sana often comes off as anywhere from distant to highly abrasive. Her dealings with others are often focused to a practical reason or business, and never of a casual or fun nature. She has little tolerance for what she feels is ignorance, especially when dealing with males. The one bright spot is in finding others in magical studies she often becomes more engaged and talkative hoping to learn more to the point of ignoring anything and anyone else around her. She is fiercely protective of her family, though she may bemoan their presence, even admitting that her taking up Thaumaturgy is for their protection.

LIKES

Thaumaturgy She has reasoned that becoming a master magus is the best way to protect her family and allow them the chance to live a life they want.

Tea Sana is an avid tea drinker.

Family Her remaining family means the world to her even if she rarely shows it.

DISLIKES

Ignorance Those seeming uneducated or ignorant often get a scathing look or retort.

Fun. She seems to have forgotten what it means to enjoy life in the pursuit of knowledge.

Bahamut Sana has a strong hatred for the elder primal.

Determination Her desire to protect her family pushes her through hard times to endure for their sake.

Intelligence Sana is highly intelligent and able to absorb complex knowledge with enough time.

Arcane Power Since breaking past an internal block to channeling her aether Sana has discovered she is able to cast highly destructive spells.

Agile Having some skill hunting to provide for her family before leaving has given Sana some quicker reflexes.

Mothering Sana tends to take a mothering, or big sister, role seeing herself as knowing better than others what they need.

  • Gil: Sana normally carries enough gil to afford a meal and night at an inn if needed.

  • Earrings: A pair of bone and feather earrings she commonly wears. Only sentimental value.

COMBAT & WEAPONRY

Being a student of Thaumaturgy, her weapons are in what spells she can cast. She wears robes common to other mages with varying accessories as the situation may dictate.


Staff

Required for focusing aether and casting her spells this is her primary 'weapon' that would be seen wielded in combat. Her currents staff has what looks to be an insect of sorts at the head with wings that open when she begins to tap into her aether.

Shortbow

A finely crafted shortbow gifted by her father. Sana used this primarily for hunting and providing for her family.

BACKSTORY

Born and raised in the Black Shroud, Sana grew up knowing a peaceful life that was only put upon by the inclusion of her twin brother, and later by other brothers and a sister. As the eldest she was trained to hunt with her mother and often tasked with responsibilities to help that she constantly neglected, or pressed her twin into doing, to run about the forest and ply herself against its dangers, or play with the other children of nearby tribes and families only returning home as the sun was rising. As far as she could see, the night was for fun and living. The others could take care of themselves.

Though, as with all in Eorzea, their lives were thrown into chaos when Dalmud was brought down from the sky. They watched with nervous anticipation hoping that the Grand Companies would succeed in saving them before destruction tore their lives asunder. Unfortunately, none had foreseen the return of the Elder Primal, Bahamut. As he broke free he scattered fiery pieces of his prison across the land. As the first fragments tore into the forest Sana and her family fled for their lives towards caverns in the hills that would offer better protection.

Separated from her family during the chaos with her brother, Erah'a, she arrived at the caves alone, in shock, small superficial wounds bleeding in places and with a massive burn across her back. After she recovered she refused to speak about what happened to her family, and still to this day has never disclosed the truth except to tell their mother he died. While the smaller wounds faded, the large burn scar across her back remained a reminder of the night. She developed a modesty in public to hide the scar to avoid questions. In time, she became numb to the physical scar as emotional scars set into place but the modesty remained. Burned to ashes was the former carefree girl. What grew in its place was a protective sister who went to pains to keep her family out of danger, scolding each child often for their foolishness.

In time, hearing more from others about what had happened at Cartineau she learned of the schools of magic that were wielded with the Grand Companies. Combined with her fierce desire to protect her family a fire sparked within her to learn whatever was necessary to prevent such a thing as Bahamut from destroying their lives again. Brought to a head by the growing annoyance of her mother to start her own family Sana finally left her home behind to seek the training she felt she needs for her loved ones.

RECENT HISTORY

Sana headed straight to Ul'dah to enroll in the Thaumaturgist's guild. She worked there while studying for some time, but quickly found employ with an alchemist and Thaumaturgist by the name of Alexa Rose. She received some training through Alexa that helped to break past a block she had channeling nothing but the smallest of aether to light candles and cool drinks, in the process she almost killed herself channeling all her personal aether into a single uncontrolled spell. After that event she continued to study and train in a more careful manner, but her studies were hindered by Alexa's absence and then disappearance. Recently, Sana began searching for other teachers or sources of Thaumaturgical knowledge leading her to the Ivory Tower in Limsa Lominsa. She seems to have found a place to carry forward her studies leading her closer to her goal, but at what cost?

Sana’s Thoughts: "Not everyone wants to start a family."

Being the eldest garnered Sana most of her mothers attention, both good and bad. She was taught what was required of her to one day start her own family. This included many responsibilities that she shirked until the death of her twin. Once Sana came of age her mother began a campaign to start her own family. Sana bared it silently until her desire to learn Thaumaturgy took hold. Soon after, she packed a few meager belongings and silently slipped away from home and into new life.

Sana's Thoughts: "From what little of him we saw, he cared about us."

Bowcrafter who hasn’t been seen since he took a shipment of bows to Carteneau just before the calamity happened. Sana wasn't as close to him as her little sister, Nefzen, due to her many responsibilities when he was about, but he taught her to use a bow and gifted her with a special one before his disappearance. She still carries the bow with her to this day which speaks of some fondness towards him even with his assumed death.

Sana’s Thoughts: ”I lost a part of me I'll never get back.”

Sana's twin brother was a constant fixture in her life until the Calamity. Through the unknowable bond that they shared Sana had a closeness that was never achievable with her other younger siblings. After his death she was never the same, as if much of the light and laughter she had died with him. She still has refused to speak to anyone of the details surrounding the night.

Sana’s Thoughts: ”No..no..NO! Stop trying to trip the diremites!”

As one of the middle brothers, Sana cared for him but was never that close. Most of her attention was to keep him out of any trouble or danger when their mother was otherwise occupied. She doesn't know anything regarding his disappearance, but his loss still weighs on her desire to protect her family.

Sana’s Thoughts: ”If your pride doesn't kill you, I might!”

The second middle brother, he had a habit of wanting to show off to his friends. Similar to Nefzen he had a habit of getting into trouble. Though his usually involved dangerous stunts. Shortly after Sana left he caught a whiff of Marlbro breath and nearly died. Sana secretly arranged a healer to provide medicine to prevent his death, but that would work slowly so he might learn his lesson. To her knowledge he is the only sibling remaining at home currently.

Sana’s Thoughts: ”If I was able to keep her out of trouble it would mean she was probably dead.”

Sana's only sister is, to this day, a constant source of personal stress. Mostly stemming from the need to stand apart from her older sister she would constantly get 'out of trouble, not into it' as Nefzen tells it. Fortunately her attention was mostly towards tormenting their youngest brother. She left home shortly after Sana to escape their mothers newfound attention, landing in the company of pirates in Limsa Lominsa. Sana does not approve of Nefzen's desire drink alcohol almost constantly and though she has asked, Nefzen has never said exactly what she was learning from her new friends. At this point Sana figures she is better off not knowing.

Sana’s Thoughts: ”Not as foolish as the others. Maybe he learned something.”

The least troublesome of her siblings. Erah'sae mostly had to deal with the tormenting attention from Nefzen, which mostly kept him watching his back and out of other trouble. Sana has turned much of her mothering ways upon him since he seemed most likely to survive to father children of his own. Unfortunately, Sana's mother forced him to follow her after she left for Ul'dah, keep an eye on her, and report back. More unexpectedly, Erah'sae has ended up dealing more with Nefzen who continues to plague him even after she left home as well.

ROLEPLAY HOOKS

Sana is about mostly in the evening/night hours as a Keeper. She tends toward places of learning unless she is with her brother and/or sister who are played in-game by friends.

  • Magic: Pretty straight forward. Anything having to deal with magic is a draw to Sana. This goes especially for things she has not learned yet related to Thaumaturgy, and potentially Black Magic.
  • Family: Anything having to do with her family, especially her in-game family is always a way to get her attention.
  • Other: After the other two, Sana will generally talk to anyone who speaks or interacts with her.


ABOUT THE PLAYER

Sana is a character and as such she is played in a way that does not represent the person behind it. I may find what a character is doing very interesting, fun, cool, etc but Sana may not. If you have a hard time handling the way RP goes OOC please say so sooner than later, or go away carrying a grudge for the person. I have years of experience as a RPer in many mediums. You will not upset me by talking rather than getting your feelings hurt. This does not mean I will break Sana's personality for you, but we can have an OOC talk to smooth out any rough feelings.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND...

Sending me tells: I am a member of a few Linkshells and I tend to RP a lot. If I have not responded right away please send the text again as I may not have noticed it.
Going AFK. I am a parent. Normally I am online when the kids are not a concern. If something comes up I will make an attempt to notify people, but emergencies happen.


GUIDELINES

Overall, I'm pretty chill as far as guidelines go. I don't have an extensive list of 'Do's or 'Don't's or things that I personally find triggering. So chances are, you won't offend me or make me uncomfortable unless you're trying to or just being really skeevy in general. Still, for the sake of making sure everyone's on the same page here, let me make a few mentions in particular:

I WILL NOT...

RP out heavy intimacy: Fade to black if things get to an involved state. A rough timeline of events may be discussed so everyone is on the same page, but details are left for the imagination of the player.
Mix IC with OOC: I'm an adult. This is a game. I know the difference between a character and the person behind it. Please make sure you do as well.
Kill my character needlessly: If your interest is in permanently killing someone off I'd suggest a random NPC you create. If I choose to kill a character permanently it will be under controlled terms.
Summary of thing to keep in mind. Placeholder for future updates.

I WILL...

RP anywhere: It is a big and fun world that has been created to play in. I like making use of it.
Be mindful of your RP: I want you to feel a part of the world you're playing in. I will make an effort to accommodate your characters roleplay style when possible.
Lose: While we all enjoy winning I never mind having my character fail.
