Sephirah Eruafnor
[edit]
"It is precisely because we understand the fragility of life that we are made aware of the ephemeralness of our own souls. But do not let any attachment to life cause you fear. Do not let fear of the end lessen your pace. Do not repent for anything!" —REDACTED
Sephirah is a Raen in his late twenties with a light, fluffy mop of blonde hair and piercing yellow limbals that hide soft brown eyes. His frown seems permanent at a glance and he has the look of a patient predator waiting for his prey to make the wrong move. He is often seen with either his daggers at his waist, or his greatsword on his back. Those magically inclined who would be able to sense the gift in others, would easily recognize the Raen's ability to wield magic, though they may be uncertain as to which type. He works with life, but not in the same way a healer does.
He is a battle hardened warrior who prefers to keep his guard up at all times. His glare cuts nearly as well as his daggers and he's prone to violence with very little provocation. While still having a reputation among those who know him as being more than a little rabid, his temper has evened out greatly since overcoming the aetherial disturbance within him that had been preventing him from using his magic. That, and the blocks to his memories caused by the accident during his journey to Aldenard. Those who manage to slip past his barriers quickly learn that despite his initial impression, he has a kind heart and a soft, if doofy, smile, along with an eagerness to laugh. His tone can sometimes sound rough, and yet always carries a note of sophistication. It's clear to the trained eye that he has noble upbringing, even if his temper sometimes spoils the effect. He does suffer a minor superiority complex due to the nature of his upbringing, but it manifests discreetly in the way he interacts with the other races and castes of society. That said, he's very much a prude and will refrain from looking at someone scantily clad if he can help it. He blushes easily when conversations turn risqué. Overall, he fiercely dedicates himself to whatever cause he takes up. He is ruthless in battle when he has decided his opponent's fate, but refrains from needless killing. Should he need to kill someone he always remembers to send their spirits on with the words taught to him by the man who handed him his first scythe: "May your next life be bathed in blessed light."
Sephirah has trained for war since he was old enough to hold a sword. He was a clumsy squire and altogether foolish adolescent, but somehow he found his way into adulthood. Rather than becoming a Knight, he turned to Adventuring for its freedom. As an Adventurer he could go beyond the boundaries of Knighthood to protect those he loved. He had always been a goof with an easy smile, but as he matured, he became something different on the battlefield. He was not a sword and shield Paladin with a gift for Holy magic, no; his skills had always been with the arcane. With a scythe as his weapon of choice, and greatsword at a close second, Sephirah learned well how to fight as a dark knight and his bloodthirsty approach to the battlefield surprised even his closest friends. Yet still, after every battle, his shy smile returned. The Void changed him for better or for worse. It had ripped opened in front of himself and a friend one day, dragging them into its tumultuous storm. They were spit out in Coerthas, a large red crystal arcing overhead. So it was, his introduction to Aldenard involved a fractured memory of blood and snow. It took over a year to regain that memory, much to his friend's dismay, and Sephirah by then had been changed by the experience. He was quicker to do violence, and a touch more paranoid of others. Finding his way back home helped to heal the scars of the Void, and these days he finds it easier to smile again like he used to. He still harbors a darkness that wishes to lash out at every living thing in his vicinity, but for the most part it has been smothered by a once again fierce dedication to protect his home and his friends.
Currently Seph is hard to pinpoint, as he disappears for days at a time without any notice. He comes and goes seemingly with the wind, and tracking him has proven exceedingly difficult. Most recently, he was hired on as an "expert" for the Raven's Nest, helping them to secure a facility for their use. He is often seen with a lavender-haired Miqo'te named Saiya at his side or else alone at a pub enjoying a moment of respite.
