Appearance

Often seen wearing a labored demeanor, T'kehe is of rather modest appearance. His black hair grows shaggy and often obscures his pale pink eyes from immediate view. He bears a deep, thick scar below his left cheek near the soft line of his jaw, and he seems rather self-conscious of it, often covering it with his hair. His ears are rather long and sport very silky black fur, which he often scratches or rubs as a habitual fidget. Behind his left ear he wears a condor pinion, which, upon closer inspection is, in fact, a quill pen. Beside it is attached an ornate phial of damask ink.

He has something of a scrawny build, attributed, perhaps, to his tendency toward a meager diet. His nails are neatly trimmed, unlike the commonly-kept claws of many active Miqo'te, and he often keeps his hands folded politely in front of himself when they are not clutching bow and string. His tail is of average length for a Seeker, perhaps somewhat longer, and is coated of short fur save for the thick tuft at its end.

History

La Noscea was never especially kind to T'kehe. He was born and raised in an insular community of the Condor tribe, one very hostile to outsiders and protective of its traditions. They were known scavengers who would frequently steal from neighboring communities when it served them, and their nunh was especially greedy, often hoarding the spoils of their ventures to himself, thus leaving the rest of the clan to fend for whatever scraps they could manage.

The clan was especially prone to superstition, and of particular note was their belief in black hair and fur as a foul omen. Thusly was T'kehe's birth considered a blight upon the clan, and his mother was threatened with exile, despite her previously-high social standing and reputation for bearing warrior progeny. It was only upon the stipulation that T'kehe be heavily supervised by a specific circle of the clan's hunters that she was allowed to remain among the clan's numbers, and even still, her reputation was permanently soured.

Thus was T'kehe's upbringing a very tumultuous one. He endured harsh abuse from every angle, particularly by his father, who often made an example of him to the rest of his people and punished him for any periods of drought or poor hunting. In a rare spike of confidence, T'kehe one day challenged the nunh, desiring revenge for his treatment; predictably, he was taken brutally down and left with many deep scars, including one to his face that remains testament to his many years of hardship.

It was near to this time that the Calamity struck, and its perils greatly disrupted the more lawful cultures surrounding the clan's settlement. This led to a period of some prosperity for his people, ironically enough, and T'kehe was spared much of the tortures he'd previously endured, allowing him some time to himself to plan his future. He decided it would be best for both himself and the rest of his clan if he left. In the hope of invoking the swift cunning of his tribe's totem, he fashioned for himself a condor-feather charm and donned it upon his head as he made for Limsa Lominsa, hoping to find sanctuary behind its walls.

There, he spent many moons doing odd jobs for merchants from the mainland, ever in wonder of the stories they told. As well, he taught himself to read and write and whiled away his free hours in Mealvaan's Gate, glorying in the tales told in its library's many tomes. His totem ever brought him comfort in the midst of any trouble he faced, and his shredded confidence began to mend.

After some time of saving his gil, T'kehe finally had enough coin to purchase passage to Gridania's Shroud, and he left with hope that his life would improve. Before departure, he had his totem fashioned into a pen and procured a phial of ink to accompany it, that he may journal of his travels and find comfort in writing, just as he had in reading.

Gridania has been kind to him thus far, and he has been learning the way of the bow, that he may defend himself at a distance before his foe may close in on him. As well, his meetings with certain personage have granted him even more confidence, and he has been able to open up to a select few people in ways he has never been able before.

Personality

While there are many things of note about T'kehe, what remains particularly overt is his shyness. His posture is often slouched and defensive, and his smiles are rare and pained when managed. He speaks very formally and has a surprisingly extensive vocabulary for one of his upbringing.

Personal Quotes

  • "M-my apologies!"

  • Ivetta Greysteele - A fellow Gullwing. T'kehe has an admiration for her and her apparent coolness, though he's very happy to keep his distance when she's a saw in hand.

Other Relations

  • C'sanhsa Tia - Perhaps surprisingly, T'kehe finds it very easy to open up to C'sanhsa, to the point that he's even japed with him, a true rarity for the shy Seeker. He considers C'sanhsa a friend and ally and enjoys spending time together with him.
  • V'arae Tia - Though they are only briefly acquainted, T'kehe views V'arae as someone to whom he is indebted, and hopes to repay him for a small favor. He hopes that they may meet again soon, that he may do so.

Trivia

  • Growing up in such an isolated community has given T'kehe very little insight as to how outside cultures operate. This leads him to frequently conflate his native Seeker customs with those of others.
