Biography

YASHI ORATOI

Yashi Otaroi was born twenty-seven years ago, to a couple of Hyur Doman's leaving on the edge of the coast in a small Finishing village during the 6th Astral Era.

Yashi life was pretty normal, for a Citizen of Doma, until the day a Garlean Patrol came to his village for a routine inspection. He was only a child of three when they arrived, accusing the Village of treason, and began ransacking it for any signs of affiliate with the Doma Resistance. Unfortunately, the Empire found more than enough, including two injured Shinobi, in the Village. The Villagers were then rounded up, all but little Yashi who had hidden, and crucified in the Village square, made to be an example to all who saw them.

After that, a wondering Samurai found the young child, clutching his head in a fit of despair and pain in front of the bodies of his parents. The Samurai then placed the three-year-old boy on a Cargo ship, heading across the Ruby Sea, to the island nation Hingashi.

It was in the Port of Kugane was where Yashi landed afterward, ending up as a scavager and thief until the day he struck a Sekisegumi officer and ran away with his sword. After hours of chasing, the guards caught the thief and were prepared to remove his hand when the local Daimyo intervened. This Daimyo name was Yarashi Otaroi, the head of Kugane officials ally the Otaroi Clan, and was there seeing a shipment of Cannons from Doma. After saving the young Doma from Sekesigumi justice, the Daimyo adopted the young man into his clan and renamed him Yashi Otaroi, in honor of his recently lost son.

Yashi's young life in the Clan's home was not one of family love and cheer, but ridicule and scorn. To the others, Yashi was no more than a stray mongrel their father had brought home and was now raising it like his own. Yashi's status a son soon significantly increased the day Yarashi named him his second son, making Yashi's succession to the clan seat only at bay by his older, and most hated brother, Odata Otaroi. Odata hated Yashi, not just for replacing his younger brother, but for everything his father did by adopting him. Yashi received tutoring from a Xaelic instructor known as Padilloux, who can become close friends of Yarashi during the war. The two soon became close friends, only departing after Yashi's 14th Birthday and his enlistment to the Otaroi army.

The Clan was one of many at the time, each vying for control of Hingashi in the wars known as The Age of Blood. It was during this time, Yashi came to manhood and soon began marching with his brothers, side by side, to crush their enemies and claim the title of Shogunate. The clan participated in numerous battles, lead by Yarashi and his sons. It was in one of the final struggles, the fight for Moroi Castle, that Odata and Yashi's first drift would form.

During the battle, the Otaroi forces were sieging the castle with great success. They had breached the first three gates, and Yashi's unit of fifty strong was storming the upper levels to claim General Idishi Moroi head when the castle sudden began to explode around him and his men. Yashi, being just moments away from the general, was instantly hit by a wave of wooden shrapnel and fire as rockets besieged the castle on all sides. Yashi's face was horrifically scarred by the first volley, sending wooden shrapnel and fire into his face, causing him agonizing pain. His trusted lieutenant, a War veteran name Hiyto Morrin, successfully helped his young Lord out of the burning castle at the cost of his own life.

After that, Yashi received medical treatment at the clan's military camp where the Unit commander in charge of the rocket squad committed Seppuku for his incompetence that cost Yashi his face and eye. Yashi's father soon took the clan home, triumphant in the Moroi clan destruction and the providence subjugation. The clan's return was met with a feast, serving every meal imaginable for them at this, their final campaign. The Clan had allied with the recently establish Bakufu government, keeping their lands and establishing Yarashi as a Bugyo of the clan's territory. Everything was for, at a time, quite peaceful. Although he raised as one of six brothers, three had died in the War, and one was left him disabled, only Odata and Yashi as Yarashi living male airs that could take control of it on his death. Everything was finally at rest, with the clan's time for grieving and preparing for a new era, no one saw the tragedy that would soon unfoiled.

It was a late, summer day in the Otaroi house when the alarm bells began ringing all throughout the keep. Guards shut the gates, secured the palace, and the Sekisegumi were quickly dispatched from Kugane to investigate the heinous crime that unfolded. Lady Sakura Otaroi, the eldest of Yarashi's three daughters, was found murdered in her room and her stomach ripped open to reveal an unborn child inside, which was now dead. Outraged, the Clan spared no expense for the Sekiseigumi to investigate the murder. Unfortunately, what the Sekiseigumi discovered would be the single most devastating discovery of Yashi life.

Yashi was discovered to have been Sakura secret lover, for the better part of their life. Their love was kept secret, even from their father, and revealed by a set of love letters between the young Yashi and Sakura. The unborn fetus was then examined by a local doctor, concluding the child was indeed Yashi's. During the blood war, Yashi was often sent back to the clan's home province to administer orders by his father and to heal if he became wounded in battle. It was apparent, Yashi had not only fallen in love with Sakura during his time with the Otaroi but had also made love to his sister before the Moroi campaign. With this evidence, Odata had the Sekiseigumi arrest Yashi on charges of Rape, Murder, and treason; the penalty for which, of course, was death.

However, Yashi's life would not end at the edge of a Seppuku knife or that of his brother's blade. Yarashi Otaroi, being perfectly knowledgeable of the affair, knew Yashi's innocence deep in his heart. Unfortunately, the clan saw this both as proof of his guilt and an opportunity to do away with the unwanted child. The clan supported Odata's charges and, to prevent civil War, demanded Yashi commit seppuku before them. Luckily for the young Samurai, the clan held an ancient law that would be used to keep him alive. Since Yashi guilt was not one hundred percent, he was there for sentenced to be banished from the clan, and the land of Hingan, upon pain of death. On his chest, he was branded with a hot rod that left the mystical symbol for "banish" on his chest. With it, he was cursed never again to walk the land of Hingashi, or he would immediately die along with his father.

Before Yashi boarded the boat, set for Erozea, his father gave him one last gift; the clan sword, Virgin Rose. With sword in hand, Yashi left to venture forth into the new world where he would live dishonored, nameless, and doomed.
