Y'Nora is rumored to be someone who can influence the strands of Fate itself. Though this seems either nothing more than superstition or an extreme irony; considering that her own life is nothing short of a terrible destiny filled with abuse and abandon.

Pre-Enslavement

Originally from somewhere on the outskirts of the Black Shroud, Y'Nora was an unwanted child from birth - her father, Rhaz, was merely a drunken Tia that overstepped his bounds and the resulting political backlash essentially doomed her at birth. The grim sentence of the tribe's elders was that the 'weak' (for her father didn't have the strength to be Nuhn) babe must be put to death as both a security to the tribe's strength and a punishment to those responsible. This, however, was a thing that her mother simply did not possess the heart to do. Instead, she sold Y'Nora to an elderly Elezen couple who could have no children of their own. Returning to the tribe to confess that it had been done, they moved on from the edges of the Shroud mere summers later...the truth was never discovered.

Under her Elezen 'parents', Y'Nora was given a proper young-noble education: she was taught to read, write and do mathematics. This good fortune, however, did not last. At the age of a mere ten summers, the young girl became lost on a dark, storming night on what should have been a calm, moon-lit trip - an event that lead to a run-in with the worst kind of poachers: Those who would have no witnesses. Unwilling to outright kill 'a mere child', they instead decided to ensure the secrecy of their illicit acts in another way: They would take Y'Nora with them unwillingly. It was from there that she was handed between a few...owners to end up the personal property of a somewhat-infamous sky pirate. For the captain of the Sapphire Avis decided to purchase her completely upon a whim to anger a rival of his, a purchased decided by the toss of a coin. Only afterward was it discovered that she could use basic curative spells and read and write.

The Sapphire Avis

For nine winters, Y'Nora served a role of forced medical mage, lector (one who reads aloud as entertainment), accounting-aide and as the captain's personal fortune-teller, of a sort. When her curative magics began to evolve into more Astromanic ones, the captain began to believe that she somehow represented his own personal favor of destiny - after all, she was here by a coin toss - a clear sign of the lady of luck smiling on him. This, however, often lead to naught but abuse and confusion for the Miqo'te: Often praised or (more frequently) blamed for acts of luck that seemed beyond her control, Y'Nora saw winters of torment at the hands of a man who believed her personally responsible for his luck on most occasions. Yet in every rumor there lies some spark of truth and more than once had the girl been observed to change the outcomes of things - or at least been strongly suspected of it. In fact, most of the crew began to believe this by the time that the Sapphire Avis' captain was killed by cannon which fired by an accidental spark...a strange one a million chance of the weather and poor positioning.

Without the captain to protect her as some precious possession which 'only he' was allowed to abuse, the crew quickly became irate upon the fate of Y'Nora. Many blamed her for the freak accident that lead to the captain's death and wanted nothing to do with her, literally wanting to cast her off the ship into the Sea of Clouds; few thought she was wholly un-involved...yet there was no real proof of either. Ultimately, the first mate decided upon a course of action that would satisfy everyone - The girl was still property and property had value: They would sell Y'Nora to the highest bidder and the crew would split the gil to replace the cannons and continue their life of aerial theft.

Personality

Raised by somewhat strict Elezen parents and enslaved for nigh a decade at this point in her life, Y'Nora has never really known what it means to possess liberties or independence. Though that is not to say that she is eager to serve others - she is as much afraid of people as she compelled by an undying curiosity of them. As one of the few crew members of the Sapphire Avis that was capable of reading, she's learned to love books and curiosities: trinkets, knickknacks and similar things fascinate her. Despite being frequently blamed for things not entirely her fault, Y'Nora still has a sense of wanting to act and do. She enjoys the use of her magical talents and though she shy's from it directly, she is still a Seeker and prefers day over night. Somewhere behind the fear and hurt in her eyes there does linger a curiosity and a cunning.

"The Truth"

((This is an OOC section to explain the character's deeper powers of Astromancy: Y'Nora can indeed pull upon the strings of chance but it is not a thing she has learned, rather a thing for which she has a natural affinity - looking at the constellations and picking out the stars that matter by feeling, rather than by logic. However, her doing so 'by heart' comes at great cost - for she is merely mortal. Things as grand as Destiny cannot be changed by her mortal hands but the outcomes of uncertain things CAN often be adjusted: In short, she can affect Luck, not really Fate. But always in both directions - For every throw of the dice or flight of an arrow that she makes fortunate, something else must become UNfortunate. Y'Nora does not necessarily control this 'backlash' for abuse of karma, though she can sometimes delay it; doing so often compounds the misfortune, however...))
