Appearance & Personality

Luthiah is a mix of origins but he is most assuredly 100% Hyur, with both dark hair and dark skin smattered with freckles. He is short for a Midlander which lends further to a youthful appearance; though muscular and toned as his profession would demand. Lute’s features are angular and sharp, made of corners and lines rather than soft curves and gentle slopes. He has gray eyes, and a single scar that stretches across his jawline to his cheek that has been well aged into a faded patch of skin rather than a fresh angry red.

Lute is something of an incorrigible flirt, with neither intention for commitment or a ‘fling’. He just likes the cute interaction. His voice is typically soft and a bit gender neutral in tone, and while he struggles in more academic arenas he appears to be well educated in language and comprehension.

The young lancer is easily enamoured with tales of daring-do and exotic trinkets. One can easily find him in markets shopping for imported fabrics and haggling for that perfect bolt of silk. In spite of this curiosity for the world around him, he doesn’t seem to be in the thrall of wanderlust.

Luthiah pays respect to the Twelve, but due to his rearing sees Halone as his patron. Being raised in Gridania, he is also quick to give due to Nophica when appropriate and mind her teachings while in the Twelveswood.

Known Biography

Anyone who is curious enough to try and dredge up information on the freckled fellow might find the following :

His father was a Thaumaturge with good intentions. An accident just prior to his move to Gridania cost him his right forearm, though this did nothing to slow down his innate desire to provide for his family. Handicapped, he continued onto a mundane life while recording all his discoveries minor and great until he decided to join Gridanian forces in the Battle of Carteneau. He never returned. Anyone who knew him would testify he was a wonderful and compassionate spirit who took comfort in modest things.

Luthiah’s mother is a bit of a firecracker, but the people of Gridania seem to like her well enough. Many suspect that she’s very capable in some capacity that is dangerous- but to what extent she has never revealed in her long stay of quietly living in the Shroud.

He has a twin sister who studies in Ul’dah. She always had a stronger inclination for the academic than her brother. She comes to Gridania to visit frequently, but is rather dedicated to her education.

Growing up with another young lad in the Shroud from an influential family, he spent his youth dedicating himself to combat arts for the sake of having a place by this friend’s side. As to why this friend needs such dedicated protection, Lute simply maintains that the other fellow is a gentle spirit.

The scar on his face has a story, one he’s embarrassed to share.

Miscellaneous

• He has a whole galaxy of freckles on his body.

• Lute’s genuinely afraid of riding animals. He doesn’t like the idea of being on something with a mind of it’s own without an intent to kill it. The lancer timidly trusts his Chocobo ‘Beans’ (naming it after food makes her less intimidating), but she is more often found walking beside him than being used as a mount.

• In fact Beans dotes on the Hyur and likes to preen his hair when he isn’t paying attention to her. His apparent fear of her does not deter the bird’s efforts for affection.

• He might be good out in the wilderness, but certainly seems to opt for an inn room when his purse can afford it. Lute has no rose-tinted view of ‘roughing it’.

• Lute makes a lot of mistakes. A lot. While being capable in his profession, he still has a tendency to mess up simple things in a Rube Goldberg manner. He’s pretty young and has a lot to learn.

• Investigating into the Reyrmor family up in Ishgard would only yield information that they were a family of little consequence. Further investigation and digging up something in a dusty corner might imply his mother might have been involved in a petty theft, but the information is inconsequential all around.

• The lancer himself has no criminal record, and by all appearances seems to be a very law-abiding citizen though prone to mostly-harmless mischief. He’s a bit of an imp.

• He eats and eats and eats. Do not ever offer to take him out for dinner, he will make you a poor person in one night.

• There are things that obviously trouble him underneath the pleasant surface, but he is not quick to surrender the inner-workings of his mind.
