Kiki Nibshe is currently a relatively unknown fortune teller. Though she claims her practice is completely genuine in its effectiveness, in truth it has little magical backing, relying instead on tricks of language and psychology. Ever since the dissolution of her previous troupe, she has worked independently, travelling Eorzea to take her practice to its backwater communities. Unfortunately, the demand for mundane fortune tellers has been low, a lack of clients leading her to significant financial trouble while she searches for more stable employment
History
Kiki grew up the accidental child of two circus performers. Her childhood was spent on the road, shadowing the circus as it traveled across Eorzea, leaving little time for her to develop useful skills or obtain a proper education. It was always assumed that she would follow in the footsteps of her parents, joining the circus proper once she came of age.
Unfortunately, she didn't seem to be fit for any of the circus' acts, proving far too weak to pull off any complex acrobatics, and lacking the magical prowess to orchestrate grand, entertaining illusions. Despite her shortcomings, Kiki was determined to find a place for herself. Taking advantage of her strong people skills and storytelling abilities, she drew inspiration from many of Eorzea's real methods of fortune telling to devise a system that worked for her.
After some growing pains, her fortune telling act began to find moderate success within the circus. Life continued on in this manner for some time, allowing her to refine her skills under the umbrella of a stable income, before troubles soon began to descend upon the circus. Facing financial pressures in the wake of the Garlean war, it was soon forced to dispand, leaving Kiki without the support of her fellow entertainers, and forcing her to take her only skill to the road.
Since then Kiki has struggled to find her feet on her own, and still searches for the stability her life once had.
Personality
In her public life Kiki appears tomboyish and outgoing. She's excellent at holding the center of attention, and putting on a good show of it at that. To any outside observer, it's clear that she's passionate about her craft, pouring herself into her work so as to convincingly sell each performance. In private spaces, she tends to be a little quieter, although she still maintains the habit of putting action begore thought.
Though many often consider her line of work to be immoral, scamming the poor out of their money in the service of cheap theatrics, Kiki genuinely believes in what she does. Though she often wishes she could utilize 'real' magic, she has found some satisfaction in the joy that her own little brand of 'magic' has brought others.
Affiliations and Known Associates
Aside from her former colleagues, Kiki has few strong connections. However, like many other travelling entertainers, she has a plethora of minor acquaintances spread out across Eorzea.
