Basic Info

Personality

The ex-sailor turned Twin Adder, Vallon, is more than a loose cannon. His drive and reckless determination launch him through most situations, whether leading to victory or ruin.A stubborn spitfire. With Reckless abandon Vallon will charge forth to meet any challenge. Restraint is not the name of the game with this particular individual, nor forethought into a situation. As said by Alice Lancaster, “There is a certain kind of brilliance under all of the stupid.”

Likes

Vallon is certainly a man of vice and greed. Though these forces do not control his every thought and decision, they certainly pull him away from his responsibilities at the worst of times. From drinking, to gambling, to the age old pass-time of chasing after women; Vallon is the quintessential tavern-goer. Adventuring, dungeon-delving, and contending with Primals provides Vallon with a certain level of adrenaline he finds lacking in most of his life. Just as the mountain climber only feels at home scaling peaks, he feels most alive when fighting real monsters. But, it’s not the triumph over evil, glory in battle, or even riches that truly fuel this passion -- It’s the camaraderie fostered by such. Vallon craves feeling like part of a team and loves to help a group reach higher. The participation in an organized group, or a crew, is what truly puts a fire in his eye. Personality-wise, Vallon is highly optimistic. Given his, virtually nonstop, jovial attitude, he finds himself drawn to people that are entirely opposite. Not to say he’s turned off by similarly happy people. His attraction to moody folk seems entirely impish in nature. There’s nothing more fun that trying to pull an introvert out of their shell. This gains him some level of frustration from those who would rather not put up with him.

Fears

Starting with the foremost of Vallon’s insecurities: Vallon is terrified of being alone. Abandonment, loss, and loneliness weigh heavy on his heart. He puts himself out to great lengths in any attempts to maintain and protect friendships. His quirky and jovial attitude are one half-upbringing and one-half an attempt at always keeping those around him happy and smiling. Becoming the object of disdain or aggression is the last thing Vallon wants from anybody and it cuts him deep when he finds himself in such a situation.

Affiliations

Living Family Members & Current Relationship Status:

Slumbering Cinder - (NPC - Male Hellsguard) An old Roegadyn who served as Deckmaster under the First Officer. Something of an uncle to Vallon, he saw to it that Vallon worked just as hard as any crewmate, something Vallon to this day respects about the old guy. Slumbering Cinder now works as a night guard to an accounting office called Charlemend & Lumont: Accounting and services. Vallon visits him from time to time, but the office is in Ul’dah (a place Vallon has never felt comfortable).

If anyone has some bit of insight into Vallon’s origin it’s this old coot. His knowledge of Vallon’s history would still be splintered (he certainly doesn’t know Vallon’s actual name), but if Vallon ever had the mind to ask the right questions Cinder might have the right answers.

(Added information from roleplaying: Slumbering Cinder is the father of the opera singer Singing Cinder. Her relationship with Slumbering Cinder is slightly strained. He’s never truly had an appreciation for the arts, far from it being a stuck in his ways old sailor. She’s always been a bit jealous of Vallon’s relationship with her father, their time together on the Jennessy is unfortunately something Singing Cinder never had the chance to experience. A missing father is never easy on a child, their current father-daughter relationship is proof of as much.)

Dead or Missing Family Members & Current Relationship Status:

Captain Tristenchambel Marveloux - (NPC - Male Wildwood) Captain of the Jennessy, a Maelstrom Man-O-War specifically commissioned as a pirate-hunting ship. During the battle with the Garlean Empire just before Dalamud revealed itself to be the Primal Bahamut, The Jennessy sailed out to do battle with a nearing Garlean Airship. Alongside two larger Man-O-Wars, the three ships managed to bring down the airship, but at the cost of the fleet. Marveloux, like any real captain, went down with his ship. His body was never recovered, but Vallon has never thought twice he would still be alive.

Beyond his rank, Marveloux was a foster parent to Vallon. He raised him from a small babe on the ship alongside his first-officer Pahja Bajihri. They were tough on the boy, but between Marveloux’s unwavering jovial attitude and Pahja’s stern teachings; Vallon has a very optimistic outlook on life.

First Officer Pahja Bajihri - (NPC - Female Moon Keeper) First Officer of the Jennessy. Went down alongside the Captain. Her body was never recovered, Vallon hopes that even in the afterlife she’s keeping Marveloux in check.

Pahja, a fierce Moon Keeper, is responsible for any remaining obedience Vallon still retains. If ever there were a mother to Vallon, it was Pahja. The many lessons of what it means to be part of a crew came directly from her, instilling a young Vallon with a yearning for the camaraderie he witnessed every day aboard the Jennessy. The camaraderie he eventually grew into, loved, and lost.

S’gizzoh Khai - (NPC - Female Sun Seeker) Vallon’s biological mother. Marveloux never informed Vallon of anything regarding his past, only that he found him left on the deck as a babe. It is likely that, due to Vallon’s real origin of being procured from pirates, that S’gizzoh was either a pirate or a slave. In either case it is likely that she is either dead or detained in a Maelstrom prison.

S’yohko Tia - (NPC - Male Sun Seeker) Vallon’s father. The same can be said of the father as the mother. Slave or Pirate, dead or imprisoned.

Friends, Allies, Mentors & Current Relationship Status:

Solid Skin - (PC - Female Hellsguard) A co-worker of Slumbering Cinders. Typically a drinking buddy to Vallon when he stomps by to visit old Cinders. Not particularly an ally as much as a well acquainted friend.

Valmanos Zaltarim - (PC - Male Moon Keeper) Two adventurers prone to frequenting a tavern for delight or to wash away bad memories. Enough talk and two able-bodied individuals such as these might start to talk business. This is essentially the relationship between Vallon and Valmanos. Either see each other as a means to an end.

Keimhimal Knodabylsyn - (NPC - Male Sea Wolf) Keimhimal, probably the single most responsible for Vallon’s attraction to all things alcoholic. These two had already become great friends before Vallon was even a teenager. Having joined the Jennessy’s crew at the age of 18, Keimhimal still possessed a very juvenial sense of things. This meshed well with, the then, twelve year old Vallon. As the years went on, their relationship grew into something of a brotherly one.

Keimhimal and Vallon still keep in touch, but to no great degree. After the Jennessy ran under, Keimhimal and Wytageim took took to fishing and run a small but profitable fishing service. The two have settled down together and are even the proud parents of a three year old darling girl. Vallon is always welcome in their home. He certainly loves when he can clear his head and spend a day with his old friends.

Wytageim Raetmytewyn - (NPC - Female Sea Wolf) A seven years older than Keimhimal and the former cook of the Jennessy. Vallon always jokes Keimhimal married her for his stomache’s sake and that she married him because he keeps a steady supply of fish in her kitchen. Vallon spent plenty of time in Wytageim’s kitchens, as such she has a decent insight into how he’s grown into the man he is today. Probably the person who knows Vallon best, even if he only stops by every few months.

Nellemond Marette - (NPC - Male Wildwood)

Rhoe Molkoh - (NPC - Female Moon Keeper)

Enemies, Rivals:

E’hoshi Tia - (NPC - Male Sun Seeker)

Gwenolie Agache - (NPC - Female Wildwood)

Eustace Webber - (NPC - Male Midlander)

Septimus van Amator - (NPC - Male Garlean) Known originally to Vallon as Kinnison Saddler, this Garlean spy was found out by Nellemond Marette and Vallon Jennessy launching both their careers forward very quickly. Septimus van Amator’s last known location to Vallon was in the Twin Adder prisons where he should be serving a very long sentence as a terrorist.

Though both Vallon and Nellemond received some nominal respect for smoking out a Garlean spy, the actual sleuth work was accomplished by Nellemond. It was lucky that Vallon caught Septimus in the act of trying to squelch Nellemond in the outskirts of Camp Tranquil, or there may not have been a Nellemond to reward. Though Nellemond was somewhat bitter from the embarrassment of being far too overt in his suspicions, Vallon never said a peep about what actually happened in an effort to leave Nellemond’s dignity intact and perhaps simply to win over a new friend.

Romantic Interests:

Amelia Almandine - (PC - Female Midlander) It seems even through her constant beratement of Vallon over the four of five months they have been working together, he has found himself growing attracted to the young maiden. He has made several advances to the woman, which she has yet to reciprocate. He’s convinced she likes him though, especially since she has yet to actually abandon him due to such advances.
