==History==
Carmen was born in Ishgard, the product of a union between a minor knight in service to House Fortemps and a Lominsan sailor. Her father, a ship's captain of some infamy in La Noscea due to his womanizing ways, abandoned his lover before Carmen was born; as such Carmen was raised chiefly by her mother, the only father figure in her life being her grandfather.

Ever since she was a small child, Carmen was fascinated and awestruck by her nation's history of holy warriors and titanic battles against Dravania. Such was her fascination that even as a young age, she aspired to become a knight herself and was instructed in the knightly virtues by her mother.
