Garrett Vinland. The name of a Midlander born into the harsh streets of the Brume in Ishgard twenty-three cycles ago. Orphaned early on, his youth was spent scraping by a living for himself by any means. As he grew up, a long-building curiosity with the world beyond Ishgard's walls prompted him into action and he enlisted with a small-band of well trained mercenaries. He starting out doing menial labor, such as bag carrying, but soon rose to become a promising new recruit for the group.

After a few years, Garrett took notice of the group slipping from his ideals and questioned their reasoning, citing his own belief in helping others that were ignored and neglected. This brought about an upheaval between himself and the mercenaries. The results of which landed Garrett a heavy debt and on-going feud; both ever present in his day-to-day struggle to make a new life for himself as he wanders Eorzea.

Garrett measures in at an even six fulm, average height for Midlanders, but taller than the other races in Eorzea with few exceptions. No stranger to hard work, his experiences have earned him a well built, lean physique with notably broad shoulders. From his youth, he's sported fair skin and blond hair that tapers into a darker strands, usually kept up in a neat ponytail with the exclusion of fringe that sweeps across his forehead. If his hair is not held up, the fine layers brush his shoulders.

Garrett's cobalt eyes are naturally calming and present a relaxed front, often giving the impression to others that he is no more than a harmless adventurer. However, in heated moments or when brought to anger, his gaze flares with the innate ferocity always hiding just below the surface. His facial features are slim and unmarred outside of a horizontal scar carving across his right cheek, light stubble, and soft pink lips that conceal an elusive smile from public eye

Garrett is a serious, cynical yet distant with hints of anti-socialness to his personality, yet he can be rather choleric also being prone to mood swings depending on the situation which arises or due to his paranoia being seen become very angry and even sometimes cry. He is rather rebellious like most people of his age but this doesn't stop him being loyal to his friends and those he cares about. Garrett can also be seen as somewhat arrogant and sometimes even cocky in heated moments, he has a habit of mouthing off to people that he doesn't know and those he comes across in battle regardless of how strong they are which can land him into some difficult situations by taunting them or making sarcastic jokes. Yet due his personality Garrett isn't one to pry into personal-affairs of other people even, unless he is involved in some way or it happens to be someone who knows or cares about. Due to his paranoia Garrett has a hard time trusting people and even more so when it comes to meeting new ones, but this doesn't stop him from trying to break past that barrier but in most cases it ends up leaving him anti-social, if someone does manage to get past that barrier of his they would discover that even his kindness has two different sides from being patient and having thoughtfulness and even when he's kind he doesn't pander to others whims, often choosing to voice his advice and support in an unfiltered fashion and when it comes to it he can be generous even though it seems he has very little.

In battle Garrett has adapted to using a different range of weapons from blades to blunt to thrown and even hand to hand combat, which include knives, lances and quarterstaves . Yet he favors either a two-handed blade which can see strapped upon his back or a one-handed long-sword carried upon his belt. In addition to his range of weaponry his skills in combat are skilled along with his speed and strength can even make this young man a formidable adversary.

During combat using his primary weapons allow him to fight using short to medium range attacks, he has even been seen changing hands to hold the blade with giving the assumption that he is ambidextrous. During his fights Garrett tends to favor lighter armor such as chain and leather over heavy plate due valuing his speed over its defenses but if the situation arises he will considering wearing it. As skilled as Garrett is in combat, he is still young and rather reckless due to his personality which can lead to him using some unorthodox methods and can often make mistakes or get in over his head and be completely out-matched but that wouldn't stop him from standing his ground due to him simply being too stubborn to turn away even if he has taken quite the beating, he isn't one to give up regardless of the situation.

After leaving the group of mercenaries at a younger age, Garrett tried to learn the ways of a Paladin as he was in tune with the element but failed his training due to his point of views and his emotions running while when he had learned that there was a way to use his emotions to his advantage and later on succumbed to the darkness, infusing his past teachings together to try and create advantages from close to long range distances.
