Introduction
<<CAUTION>> ALL information below is pending further Elezen lore in regards to age and other official annotations. I'm also long winded and have used "spoiler" to tag any unimportant blocks of text. Last Major edit Made 2013-11-06
Quarimar is a Duskwight Elezen from series of island caves south of Thanalan. While not a native to Eorzea he has lived there for nearly a decade, in that time he has come to call it home. Requiring numerous materials from nearly every corner of the land he can often be found traveling far and wide atop his trusted Chocobo Nhestal. Subjected to the spell of Louisoix, he was pushed forward alongside other adventurers but returned only three years later. After ensuring his families safety he has returned to Eorzea, both to seek out his missing Sister and survey the changes to the land.
Primary Information
Name:
- Quaraunt Imarin (Ku-waar-aun EE-maar-inn)
- Baenund (BAY-nn.OOn-duh) A families potential history.
- Show text
A few translations have been made of this family name mostly by him and Synndil before the event with Dalamund, Quarimars attempt at interpretation is "Blessed by monsters touch" Supposing a talent appearing monstrous or perhaps representing abilities augmented by some sort of Primal, He still searches for a more accurate account.
Aliases/Nicknames:
- Quarimar (Ku-waar.EE-maar) Far and wide
- Show text
A shortened version of his name, used when coming over to Eorzea and used commonly since. He prefers that only his family know his full name.
- Istrysn (ihst-riss-inn) Thankfully forgotten.
- Show text
Known to his family (and previously to members of the Sacrarium), given to him sardonically after attaining the status of Black Mage, thought of by Synndil. From the old tongue she was helping him decipher it can be translated in a variety of ways, "Ist" as "Endless or Immortal" and "Rysn" as "Artifact, Dweomer, Sorcerer or Spell." Synndil intended it as "Endless Spell" poking fun at his often longwinded exposition on possible tweaks to various incantations. It was twisted to "Immortal Sorcerer" by some of his peers at the Sacrarium who had also become familiar with the language. It insinuates the more barbaric "sorcerer" term along with use of "immortal" as a kind of curse, implying a lack of connection with Nald'Thal. He has come to resent it immensely and is quite glad that it has been forgotten.
- Quari (Ku-waar-EE) For his Friends.
- Show text
A shortening of his Eorzean name, used mostly by his friends who often truncated his name into one quick sound anyways. While he finds it a bit embarrassing when used in public, and though he would never admit it, he is pleased to have one.
- Attendant A title used while working.

Appearance
Height: 6 Fulm 8 Ilm (80ilm total) Fairly tall and rather conscious of it, he will often stay on a lower step or sitting to help maintain eye contact with the shorter races. He feels slightly inferior to any wildwood kin who stand taller than him.

Behavior and Personality
Attitude (This information is given more as a prompt to understand how he views the world and a tool to strike up conversation with him, rather than providing information on Quarimar himself.)
While documenting the occasional rare variation he treats most beastkin as a resource to be utilized and finds protectionists rather than conservationists odd, particularly in the case of Coeurl and Wolves. He (so far) has unsuccessfully attempted to catalogue (in the wild) the deadliest and most notable of their kind, the fearsome Chimera. Only having the chance to attend the dissection and study the corpse of one along with a few other Scholars in Ul'dah.
Enchanted with the idea of taking flight on the wing he spends a great deal of his time finding the more peculiar and larger breeds of this particular classification. Hoping to find a way to take flight without the uncouth Magitech which currently dominates the field. He has taken particular notice of the Apkallus' durable plumage, and the aptly named "Death Gaze" their impressive wingspan and sizable profile makes him consider if they aren't the best source to replicate flight, even if it requires engaging the rumored Vyraal, perhaps the greatest of that kind.
- Scalekin Ferocity, Strength, Cunning.
-
- (Normally desiring to subdivide each group even further by tribes and organization, he has been reminded that brevity has certain advantages.)
Mostly a pest, he is curious if one could replicate the hive based connections that seem to maintain the larger antling colonies but acknowledges its moral problems. He would still dearly like to try the system with a horde of Mammets, but the automatons are rarely available for such casual use and in the necessary numbers. He has also tried to find a way of breeding a more passive Firefly, but has met with little success. Part of the issue being not having a large enough area to attract a sufficient number and the other part being their immediate desire to flee his approach even if they are not hostile.
He has little care of them, more interested in the plants and habitats of the oceans floor than the inhabitants. He goes out of his way to remove Slugs and Anglers who once infested his families home.
He has a particular focus on the Fomor as opposed to Ghosts and Wights, attempting to unravel the secret behind their revival while retaining the skills of their past life and a seemingly greater competence. He often studies Ak-Mena/Inik specimens. Excerpts of older texts dating to past empires seem to hint at rituals and the forgotten magics, but he has been unable to find anything that provides reliable results.
Separated into the two primary groups of Garlean and not, he detests the Garleans works on principle and only begrudgingly gives particular advancments . The Allagan examples fascinating works almost resembling an art in the form of Mirror Knights. He is currently seeking a group or individual capable of slaying one of the things and bringing it back to him with the head and wing casing intact.
Covering a large variety of creature Quarimar has a particular aversion to Treants that has carried on through the years. While appreciative of the service the perform for Gridania, he still hesitates when ever he is required to interact with them. Fungar, Ochu and Morbols all provide interesting reagents for testing purposes and though he doesn't make a point of sharing the information, he's had the chance to meet an amiable Goobbue or two.
An interesting phenomenon, Quarimar often speculates on their exact nature, they appear in many cases to be a direct manifestation of the Aether, coloured by some unseen force, or perhaps the lands that spawns them itself. "The Dullahan would make excellent guards if one could find a way to master them, and the Coblyn, if subjected to training would be a mining tool more efficient than anything the realm has yet seen" But he has had no luck with either, and an incident with a way-ward Dullahan outside a series of ruins has left him cautious of approaching them.
He could go on about them for an era if he thought it would be of any use. In most cases he professes that they are better destroyed than kept for research, though the information they could provide is beyond valuable, particularly some of the elementally attuned Flans. In good conscious he has abandoned most of his research into the Voidsent unless he is called in by an outside source or is given the chance to help along side a group of scholars. He has a particular interest bordering on obsession with the Soulflayers.
Combat: Preferring to avoid it all together when pressed he falls back on either using a pole arm, imitating the spear fishing lessons of his youth, or Magic, weaving a mixture of the elements as he learned from the Ossuary before the moon fell. Focusing on disabling an opponent to preserve the ability to question them or test on them, he only resorts to lethal measures when cornered.
Speech: Normally measured and soft, his tones often reflect his thoughts going from a monotonous drone when dealing with the routine to a rambling passionate flow when curious. His speech is often verbose emphasizing clarity of understanding with touches of foreignness usually idioms or phrases from his home.
Sexuality: While primarily Hetero sexual he can be an incorrigible tease towards both genders when he opens up and does find some men attractive. Outwardly prudish and obstinate to overt sexualization he still values genuine expression, desiring them to at least keep it at a distance.
Hobbies A way to pass the time.
- Cultivation Bringing up flowers and plants, usually in his home.

- Sculpting/Sketching Desiring to capture moments or expressions he'll make small personal works.

Acquaintances Greatly diminished
MIA research associate, worked primarily in Coerthas up to and after the events of Dalamund, lost contact after briefly seeing him during the Cold Moon Gala. Currently paying for information regarding his well being.
A Highlander male who had helped Quarimar since his arrival in Ul'dah years before the descent of Dalamund, and missing ever since. One of the people he would feel confident calling "friend" and the one who made "Quari" stick as his nickname, Caladbolg is missed dearly and Quarimar can still be found visiting places they journeyed to together searching for some sign of his return. He always stood tall and was one of the few Hyurs Quari felt confident in introducing to others.
Met at the Coffer and Coffin, but not during an event, seemed an odd and curious Lalafell, after speaking about the Goldsmiths guild and their Mametts he left. Met again twice, once outside the Botanists guild in Gridania, and again in Ul'dah, the second time I extended invitation to All Saints Wake, and he contrived to become a member of the costume contest which was amusing. Ask about various things, money, death, a Duskwight who used to sing to him. Perhaps longing?
Appearing calm, careful and slightly apart, Quarimar is pleased to have found some one to keep a level head when working as security when the Coffer and Coffin is rented out. He hasn't engaged the Hyur in much conversation, partly because he is used to keeping professional communication tightly on topic, and partly because Konner reminds him of Caladbolg, a some what painful memory. Recently discovering he is bound to T'nara Fariq, Quarimar made some effort to bestow on them the equivalent of his families binding gifts, though puzzled to find some of the ritual objects he hopes they are blessed by Menphina.
First met at the markets in Ul'dah near the north side. Have met a few times since. Appears soft spoken at times and proud of her Duskwight heritage.
Enemies To oppose or be opposed by
The Watch List Eye catching individuals of unknown content
Encountering each other in the depth of U'Ghamaro Mines, they made an effort to push a bit deeper. while she was able to attain some item Quarimar wasn't able to identify they were soon after ambushed by a Kobold pack leader and his troop, quickly making tracks, Quarimar only spotted her in Ul'dah a few days after in passing. Seems a capable Conjurer.
Attended the first and second Coffer and Coffin, an interesting individual, the name in and of itself raises some questions. Worked well and made an effort to keep people in drink.
Seemed a level headed individual, briefly spoke to at the Cold Full Moon Gala, and stayed outside the main building during the first Coffer and Coffin event, though they didn't speak at that time.
Assigned to the same group during the Cold Full Moon Gala, they made some light conversation through out the night. While Kym'a seemed nervous and shy at the onset, as the topic drifted towards the Carbuncle at his side he gradually thawed and an informative talk followed that Quarimar still uses as the basis for his knowledge about the creatures.
Met as a passer by during the second Coffer & Coffin event, was occupied with other guests. Met briefly again at camp Bronze Lake as Quarimar was heading north towards the Kobold Mines
Pleased by the effort put forward as the hostess of the second Coffer and Coffin night. Active, and capable at managing introductions for a large number of people. He was surprised at first to see her at the All Saints Wake celebration he attended along side Dante, but had to quit the location early and didn't have the chance to meet the attendees or staff.
Met at the 1st Coffer and Coffin, he spoke about traveling northward, and while Quarimar counciled against taking the route through Mor Dhona, the Hyur seemed set on it. Before he could dash off Quarimar imparted an Infernal Taper on him, asking him to provide it to any Immortal Flames that may give him trouble, reassuring the adventurer that the item was a relic that proved the holder a capable person. Quarimar wonders if he hasn't sent the poor fellow to his doom, and tries to keep and eye out for him as he ventures around Thanalan.
Recommended by Konner, Yloise took a commission from Quarimar to make a Brass Circlet set with Malachite he had cut himself for a friend. Talent evident he has made a note to follow up with any further commissions he will require.
