Introduction

<<CAUTION>> ALL information below is pending further Elezen lore in regards to age and other official annotations. I'm also long winded and have used "spoiler" to tag any unimportant blocks of text. Last Major edit Made 2013-11-04

Quarimar is a Duskwight Elezen from series of island caves south of Thanalan. While not a native to Eorzea he has lived there for nearly a decade, in that time he has come to call it home. Requiring numerous materials from nearly every corner of the land he can often be found traveling far and wide atop his trusted Chocobo Nhestal. Subjected to the spell of Louisoix, he was pushed forward alongside other adventurers but returned only three years later. After ensuring his families safety he has returned to Eorzea, both to seek out his missing Sister and survey the changes to the land.

Interests and Observations

(This information is given more as a prompt to understand how he views the world and a tool to strike up conversation with him, rather than providing information on Quarimar himself.)

  • Towards the Bloodborn
  • Scalekin Ferocity, Strength, Cunning.
  • Spoken The Contrary
(Normally desiring to subdivide each group even further by tribes and organization, he has been reminded that brevity has certain advantages.)
  • Towards the Bloodless
  • Towards the Transcendent
  • The Twelve While note the most devout, Quarimar does see the twelve more as personifications of ideals than active entities.

Behavior and Personality

Combat: Preferring to avoid it all together when pressed he falls back on either using a pole arm, imitating the spear fishing lessons of his youth, or Magic, weaving a mixture of the elements as he learned from the Ossuary before the moon fell. Focusing on disabling an opponent to preserve the ability to question them or test on them, he only resorts to lethal measures when cornered. Speech: Normally measured and soft, his tones often reflect his thoughts going from a monotonous drone when dealing with the routine to a rambling passionate flow when curious. His speech is often verbose emphasizing clarity of understanding with touches of foreignness usually idioms or phrases from his home.
Sexuality: While primarily Hetero sexual he can be an incorrigible tease towards both genders when he opens up and does find some men attractive. Outwardly prudish and obstinate to overt sexualization he still values genuine expression, desiring them to at least keep it at a distance.
Hobbies A way to pass the time.

  • Cultivation Bringing up flowers and plants, usually in his home.
  • Fishing mostly along river banks and small ponds. Using the time to digest other thoughts.
  • Sculpting/Sketching Desiring to capture moments or expressions he'll make small personal works.

Talents With natural ease.

  • Gem-cutting and stone shaping
  • Organization
  • Cartography

Flaws A stumbling block.

  • Temperature and light sensitive
  • Poor sense of smell
  • Quick to Judge
  • An obsessive/addictive personality

Likes

  • Fruits, particularly berries and other sweet things
  • Fish and other sea food
  • Wines and Teas, subtle flavors
  • Vibrancy, of colour, sound and emotion
  • Wordplay, quick wit, and sarcasm
  • Formal activities with rules and structure
  • Listening to other people
  • Napping in the shade

Dislikes

  • Stagnancy
  • Sudden and loud sounds, For headaches and fright
  • Spiteful behavior
  • Blasé treatment of public abuse
  • Tribal designs and behaviors
  • Most animal meat, unless cooked just so

Mottos/Rules:

  • "Noble ancestry is not the line, but only and indicator. Noble blood requires noble behavior; privilege entails responsibility. That is the meaning of Noblesse oblige"
  • "The great artists all have and had it, they are the bastions that I wish to stand among. It is easy to take pain and show it, to be sad and show it, to be happy and show it. The down trodden can capture the horror of it in song and painting like no other. But the great? They, for me, are the ones that used their sadness, their unfulfillable longing to show the beauty of our lives. Like a rusted squeeze box, a simple pulse, that strengthens and grows into beauty."
  • "If not now, then when? If not we, then who? I should rather do my best with what I have, when I am able, for whom ever I can than wait for some 'perfect moment.' Making our own moments is what has seen my family through hardship generation after generation."
  • "My peace of mind is drawn from the feeling of connectivity. Deep in my gut, beyond the reasoning I can make, beyond my rational thought. When I look out over the land, or up at the stars I feel grand, heightened. I am flawed, yes, I dislike my own kind more than they deserve, I drink too much, smile too little and often don't respect people who are earnestly trying their hardest. But I think that I can, if I try to embrace the commonalities of life, overcome the pitfalls of my character."
