Well-toned [edit] Personality & Appearance Interactions Miscellaneous P E R S O N A L I T Y Shintaro is a friendly young man, despite his harsh upbringing. He's usually expressionless until you begin talking to him and is very kind to everyone he meets, even if might seem unintentionally blunt about things from time to time. The mercenary is of two faces as he can be extremely patient and kind but also impatient and angry at times as well. He doesn't get genuinely mad or upset easily so the boiling point of his is hard to pinpoint - if it even exists. Shintaro will always be mindful of everyone, never taking a side always listening to everyone's side of the story, which can be attributed to his want to make everyone happy, albeit at his own expense. He's prone to fits of laziness which can continue for days, even months to a time. Overall, he's someone who can be described as "living for others" but not for himself. However, under his metal helmeted exterior, is someone who just wants to be surrounded by people who love him and appreciate him. His willingness to take on a more kinder side when his friends are truly upset or mad stems from the kindness his family once showed him, which he projects now onto others in his own way. His more negative side is prone to feeling alone and unneeded, which fuels his self-sacrificing method of helping his friends and others philosophy to an even unhealthier extent. His emotions are a huge mix but at heart he wants nothing more than to help and love those in need and to be helped and loved return. L I K E S ■ Helping Others : After his adoptive family helped him, he grew to learn to help others in any way he could. He loves to offer his services as a freelancer or just as someone volunteering. He finds no greater joy in helping another person with their problems and relieving them of stress or making them happy. ■ Appreciating nature : Shintaro is often out traveling by himself, and through his time alone, he has learned to greatly appreciate nature and all of it's elements, except for the scorching heat. ■ Alone Time & Solitude : Despite loving to talk to and tease people, Shintaro also loves nothing more than being able to sit down and listen to the wind blowing or just standing where he is and closing his eyes to enjoy the silence of certain places. ■ Talking : After being abandoned by his clan and traveling mostly alone for a year and a half, he's grown to immensely value what conversations he has with other people. D I S L I K E S ■ Hot Weather : He can't stand any hot climate whatsoever, as it causes him to sweat profusely in his armor. ■ Working/Helping Himself : Despite Shintaro's love of helping other people with their problems, he has no qualms about skipping on his own work. He often ends up sleeping outside with only enough money to eat food and provide for himself for a few days. ■ Being Injured : Shintaro is a coward when it comes to fighting (despite most of the jobs he takes as a mercenary), something he has no trouble admitting to. His aversion to being injured stems from his inability to protect his deceased sister. ■ Being Touched : On top of an aversion to being injured, he has an aversion to being touched. He grows uncomfortable, sometimes to extreme circumstances, when he's being touched and often begins to stutter and grow nervous as a result, no matter who's touching him. He's slowly growing out of it, but he still has a great fear of it. O T H E R ■ Idleness : Shintaro is an extremely lazy individual, and when he's not helping others, doing work, or anything else, you can often find him spending his time either sleeping anywhere or doing nothing at a tavern. ■ True Neutral : Despite his obvious passion of helping others, he truly only cares for those he considers friends - he cares not for anything else. A P P E A R A N C E Shintaro is short; for an Au Ra at least. He stands at 6'0 with a well-toned body due to lots of physical work; however it has seen better days. His body carries multiple scars and burn marks which he goes to a great effort to hide beneath his armor and clothing. His skin is extremely pale and his hair is unkempt and wild, likely due to the fact he rarely takes off his helmet. (At the moment however, it's rather short and he has yet to grow out his hair.) His eyes are somewhat sunken due to stress. When he takes off his eyepatch, it's revealed that his other eye has lost it's limbal ring and is scarred heavily, with many wounds surrounding it. Body : His body is scarred heavily, most notably around the arms and chest before they stop near the nape of his neck. He could be considered rather well-toned but not muscular in some regards. His hands are a bit small but his fingers are long and his arms are a bit lanky. He's self-conscious of this and likes to cross his arms a lot to hide this. Hair : His hair is once again a shining shade of black, however he's considering having it short again. Currently it is long and messy and he has no shame in showing it to the public. Eyes : His eyes and eyebrows used to be very sharp, but after spending time around more and more people, they have taken a kinder look, if not at least more neutral so as to look more approachable by others. His eyes are a deep black, with his left eye lacking its limbal ring. Because of his lack of a limbal ring in his left eye but his right eye having one, when expressing himself (at least with his eyepatch off) his pupils usually appear much larger than they are, making for some rather silly facial expressions from him. Voice / Accent / Speaking style : Shintaro is one to speak his feelings. He has a medium-low and husky voice, but his tone changes often - if he's happy, it tends to be a pitch higher, when he's angry, it's rather lower, and the like. She stumbled upon Shin when she was moping about her studies on alchemy in Ul'dah. Shintaro cares a great deal for Luca and takes on an air of easiness whenever around her, something akin to a caretaker. She's one of the first friends he has had in a long while and values her company greatly. Even though they have trouble talking sometimes, Shintaro knows he would cross great distances to ensure she leads a safe life. Lucaell Tareth'eian ( ● ) - Good-hearted Annoyance Shintaro met Lucaell when she arrived at his house, next to the one she was supposed to perform for. At first, Shintaro thought of Lucaell as only an annoyance, but after discovering that they both lived the same lifestyle and that she had a great passion hidden under that oh-so annoying exterior of hers, he now thinks of her as only a minor annoyance and something akin to a friend. While he often expresses his disdain for her, he greatly appreciates her presence and finds her annoying traits as refreshing. He'd still like to smack her upside the head though. Sakana Kawatou ( ● ) - Annoying Girl Shintaro met Sakana when he was guarding his Company house. The two quickly bickered and bonded, with the two teasing each other a great amount. While Shintaro does find Sakana to be a nuisance and goes out of his way to annoy her, he does have a lot of patience for her, often obliging to whatever activities she may have in mind. After learning that the both of them share a similar past, he holds Sakana in a much higher regard than he did initially. He'd still suplex her though.
