Early in life, it was clear he was both reckless and quick to anger, lashing out and getting into fights with other children + Like most citizens in Ishgard, he joined the military at an early age to defend his homeland against the Draconic Hoard. He struggled in the rigid environment of the Temple Knights, notorious for getting into altercations with other knights, but strict military life forced him to learn to comply and manage his temper into more advantageous uses + Much of his adult life was spent in service to Ishgard and The Orthodox Church, slaying dragons and suspected heretics as well as defending the city.
