Character
General
K’laka is a proud, stoic man who has toiled hard in the dog-eat-dog world of Ul’dah to make his fortune. Forever quick to judgement and looking down upon those whom he deems as the “filth” of the Jewel of Thanalan, he also greatly scorns the wealthy as they are the ones who once trod on him, despite sharing attributes with those he loathes.

Hailing from an ex-officer background, he is well learned and carries himself appropriately. Originally from Vylbrand, he found himself in Thanalan at a young age despite being a male seeker, where he felt the harsh environment of Ul’dahn society. After surviving for years, he was swept up into a mercenary company, the spark that tailored him into the man he is.

After amassing his fortune in Ul'dah, primarily through investing into various merchants and mercantile wear, he spent a decade of his life clawing his way into the upper class society, finding himself now able to associate with minor nobility and his name been known throughout. However he stumbled upon Elyscia whom he was tasked with advising as part of a debt to the Adventurer's Guild. This woman however would grow to become his love and his sole reason for his existence as he now perceives it.

As the recent year passed, K'laka had seemingly fled the desert city-state, his partner along with for reasons he refuses to share. Where they took refuge is known to very few, and in the end he sought asylum in his private residence in Vylbrand after a moon of distancing themselves from society. To keep his mind from dulling, he easily secured himself a role within the Maelstrom, primarily placed in an administrative position where he has once again scaled up the chain of command, done more so to abate his feelings of tedium and monotony from his new occupation than for status.

His career within the Maelstrom, while brief, did bear him some fortune as he scaled to the rank of Second Storm Lieutenant and was able to reap some benefit from his time within the company. Yet it eventually came to an end once he had wed his love, Elyscia, as she wished to explore Eorzea with the man and he was unwilling to refute her. With adventure on the looming horizon for the pair, K'laka discarded his coat of arms and his adorned garb, slinging on his armor in preparation for what lay ahead; the man finds himself struggling to quell his growing excitement at the prospect.

The pair finally were able to set about their shared interest in adventuring, accompanied by two chocobo's and their loyal hound, Lyall. Over a year and a half were they able to enjoy unabated freedom as they scoured through the deserts of Thanalan, all the way to the harsh tundra of Coerthas. Even the more alien land of the North was exposed for them, the warped oddities of draconian influence absolutely captivating the man.

However, their luxury was brought to a halt as they were blessed, or perhaps hampered when his wife began to fall pregnant. With the prospect of being a father before him, the man returned to some of his more overprotective habits, forcing them to immediately retire for the duration of his beloved's pregnancy.

During this time, K'laka sheltered Elyscia intensively, more so though to protect his unborn child which stirred their relationship. Given the circumstance and with some exceptional reluctance on the man's part, he was able to relent and restore the cracks that appeared. As the moons passed, and on one distressing night, eventually the man was gifted with his first child, his own daughter.

With a true family of his own, he lived in relative bliss and happiness in the quiet of Vylbrand, spending much of his time with his beloved whilst passing down his wisdom to his children, some willing more than others. However within moons, his overprotectiveness of Elyscia returned and became even more fierce. The man's pride had twisted now to that of his family, and he was deadset on their protection. This inturn cast away all of his beloved's close friends and the two would drift and seperate.

His wife had left him, taking the ex-Maelstrom officer's children along with. The burgandy haired man never sought them out, he accepted his failure - his only true failure in his eyes. As swiftly as his life turned, he abandoned his home and reputation. The  Miqo'te seeker hadn't been seen for near a year, yet only to emerge, daring to crawl back to the hive of filth that is the Jewel of Thanalan where he sold his services as a meager sellsword. His year spent away however is not without merit, as he carries with him something he always once lacked, yet through damnable means.

Appearance
Standing at 5 Fulms 11 Ilms, he is tall for his kind, sporting burgundy hair that is swept back along with constantly groomed features, blue-green eyes beneath an ever furrowed brow and a tanned, reddish skin complexion. The man looks proud and noble, a well-built frame that strides with grace and radiates power. Etchings of weariness reveal themselves upon his features, more so now that he has been seperated from his family.

He was once almost always caught wearing his signature garb, body draped in reinforced leather with light, master crafted white plate over the top, both a symbol of the status he once held and for functional use. Likewise, by his side hangs were an estoc that was equally crafted to the utmost quality, ensuring the thrusting weapon be light and durable.

Now however he has eventually discarded his wear of status and turned to varying metal armors, favouring a breastplate bearing wide pauldrons, a tunic lain over ontop. Boasting arm length gauntlets and sabatons that match a sleek silver sheen, a crude looking great blade hangs slung on his back and appear unnaturally old for his tastes of finery.

Behaviour
K’laka treats everyone with distrust upon their initial meeting and based upon this first encounter, he will judge those whom he converses with and hold his assumptions with conviction. Depending upon the individual, he can either be respectful and reserved, or caustic and arrogant. His mind is as sharp as his tongue and he is want to immediately speak his thoughts and opinions, choosing to not obfuscate his dealings with people and be direct.

It was also revealed, due in part to his arrogance and nature he developed, that the man is partially homophobic, an element of himself he wished to conceal from his partner, only further adding to the toxicity of the man.

If spoken to with regards to being Miqo’te, he will either ignore the question or react with clear distaste for the subject, quickly repelling his questioner with a litter of verbal insults, either towards the individual or the subject of Miqo’te as a whole.

It was once impossible to see through his guise of stoicism, causing many to believe that he was consumed by his life and partner. However since appearing in Vylbrand, the proud Miqo'te is more frequent to bear a smile upon his features, and despite his once refined and reserved nature towards his personal life, the man is rather open with his appreciation and fondness of the woman whom he now calls his wife.

While amongst his children, K'laka was almost an ideal father, but he burdened his wife greatly with his inherent nature to protect his possessions. The seperation of him and his proginy had him revert to his caustic, bitter self. These feelings have only seeminly reinforced themselves since being forced to offer himself as a lowly mercenary.

Combat
K’laka was once hailed as an upcoming prodigy at swordplay at a young age, but since starting his fortune in Ul’dah, his blade has remained in its sheath, his art dulling over time. He originates from a background of dueling rather than being a brawler and thus prefers to fight with instinctive ‘rules’, seeking not to kill but to best his opponent. Courtesy of his genetics, he is gifted with agility, his lean, battle-made frame accenting this, giving him a well-rounded set of attributes.

K’laka has next to no aetheric capabilities, relying purely upon technique, experience and strategy to win in a fight. He does not shun however the use of ranged tools, being a capable archer should the situation require it. Despite this, he prefers his confrontations to be direct, wishing not to use deception or the element of surprise to tip the scales in his favor. However if needs must, he can and will abandon his moral code, especially for the sake of his beloved wife.

Recently however, he has been seen to weild aetheric abilities, but yet his own aetheric signature remains weak.

Relationships
Family
K'laka makes no mention of his family. Any attempts to do so elicit an acidic response.

Friends/Acquaintances
Elyscia Rose - A Seeker like himself whom he once acted as ‘teacher’ towards. Over time he came to fall in love with the Miqo'te, becoming partners and as their future was paved, and their history created together, he grew deeper in love with the woman until he asked her hand in marriage. He is fiercely loyal and protective of her, the man viewing her as he main reason for being.

Gradually the man has somewhat loosened his overbearing protective nature, yet it still remains strong, only being revitalized further once the two became married. However after her departure from him, her name enbitters him, spurring him to grow defensive and vile.

Sarah Sparrow - The Hyuran, surrogate sister of Elyscia. He thinks of her as but a common whore and a cancer to the life of Elyscia. Once he sought to remove her, but eventually came to terms with her existence.

Zethie Aldis -  A Keeper who associated with his partner. He is and remains distrustful of him, exacerbated when he learned of his actions towards his betrothed prior to their relationship. He has grown to be on amicable terms with the ‘boy’, though only on face value.

Guinevere Hawk - A black-haired hyuran who has worked with K'laka for intelligence gathering purposes. The man is rather fond of her work ethic, finding her exceptional when it comes to 'business'

Lyall - His pet dog and loyal companion. Originally he brought the pup into the fold to gift Elyscia a 'friend', however as he is the one who fed the hound, he gained the majority of his adoration.

Enemies
K'laka has no current enemies as of yet, but there's plenty of individuals who have more than enough reason to dislike the man.

PC Rumors
If your character was asked what they think or know about K'laka Tia, what would they say?
