Caelia Salinas

She considers her self the average conjurer since there are many things she has yet to learn. Keeping the wounds to a minimal, but not enough to be exceptional. Caelia doubts that she will ever become a well-known conjurer. As long as she is able to successfully help those who are in need, then all is well.

Personality

Caelia had always been depicted as a soft-spoken, well mannered, and shy girl. Always lurking in the background and hardly voicing her opinion during discussions. When approached by strangers, she is a stuttering mess and takes a considerable amount of time to finish her sentences. (Yes, even the most simplest of sentences.) Her expressions are easy to read, so other's can pick up on her uneasiness when she speaks to unfamiliar faces. She's not comfortable talking to strangers and is afraid to interact with everyone most of the time. People often perceive her as a weak person because of this.

The closer you become to her, her shy demeanor melts away and you find that she is actually a charming girl. Her comments become a bit more playful and you can find a gentle expression on her face. A smile gracing her features every now and then. The closer you are to her, the more open she is to you. Depending on how you act towards her, she could either be a sweetheart or easily irritated. At any given moment, Caelia can retreat back into her shell. Especially when you embarrass her.

Since she isn't used to social interaction, she is very easy to read most of the time. Her expressions are the usual indicators when it comes to telling how she feels. Angry? Her brows are furrowed and she's pouting like a spoiled child. Sad? She's on a verge of tears with her bottom lip trembling. This makes her an easy target for teasing and getting information out of her. Just like the famous saying, she wears her heart on her sleeve.

Even if when she shows she terrified of interacting with others, the girl does believe in karma. She willing to lend a hand to anyone who is in need of it. Even if she will gain no benefit from it. This was something that she had believed in for many years: Do unto others as you would have unto you. As long as you show her kindness, you will receive hers tenfold.

Appearance

Caelia is a midlander hyur who stands at a small height of 5'2" and happens to be very sensitive about it. Her skin is slightly tanned from to the years of working on a ranch under the sun. Previously, she wore her dark purple hair in a neat trimmed fashion. Now she has grown out her hair as well as wearing it down. Her face still holds childlike appearance but shows hints of a woman hiding beneath. Slightly round light-blue eyes, cheeks still with lingering baby fat, and pink lips make up for her most notable features. Her natural expression makes her appear friendly which is a stark contrast to her usual companions.

Even though she is formally training as a healer, her small lithe frame does hide slightly toned muscles underneath her robe due to working on a ranch since childhood. Even if her body appears that she had gone through some sort of physical training, the reality is that she had grown used to carrying around bales of hay, and among other things to upkeep a stable. Unknowingly to her, she is capable of throwing a good punch or two. She has the strength to do so, but is ever gentle to everything she handles.

She always seen wearing an acolyte's robe paired with long hyuran boots. It serves as her attire when she is out traveling between the city-states and adventuring. For her civilian gear, she replaces the robe for a apple green sailor's shirt with and black shorts. (Strictly used when she is running errands in Limsa Lominsa or back at home in Mist.) Caelia also wears spectacles on her face because of being extremely nearsighted.

Biography

Childhood

This young midlander had lived a quiet life within the Shroud while residing at the ranch in Bentbranch Meadows. Surrounded by her loving family, the other caretakers, and of course, chocobos. Caelia learned the ways of bringing up these flightless birds. Her parents were the lead caretakers of the chocobos that would be issued to new members of the Order of the Twin Adder. Caelia and her brother would often be seen helping her parents by tending to their needs. At first, the birds didn't appreciate the children's presence. Their mother told them a secret that if they sang to them, they would come to trust them. Caelia still uses that trick to this day. A piece of advice that had worked on the birds were under her care. At the age of nine, her parents had finally entrusted Caelia to a chocobo of her own. A female hatchling whom she fondly referred as Amity, meaning friend. Receiving Amity was a significant time in the hyur's life. It had meant that her parents had complete faith in her abilities.

A few days before her tenth name day, her parents were assigned to check up on the ranch in the North Shroud. Caelia and Esmond would not know that the day the left for their two-day visit, would be the last they would ever see their parents. When the news reached the Central Shroud, their grandmother immediately took the two children under her care. Her parents death was never explained to Caelia. All she knew that their caravan had been ambushed during a heavy storm. For some time, Caelia kept herself cooped inside her room. She stopped going outside to help out on the ranch, she stopped singing hymns about the Matron, and seeing a genuine smile on the girl's face was rare.

Thankfully, Grandmother Salinas wasn't one to keep the past from pulling you forward. When the elderly woman thought her granddaughter had mourned enough, she pushed Caelia back to the swing of things. From there, Caelia found that there will always be things that must happen in order for life to carry on.

Teenage

As the years passed, Caelia grew into a introvert of sorts. Only speaking to the other caretakers when she needed to, and keeping herself with the chocobos most of the time. There were only a few people who were able to carry a conversation with her on the ranch. Her time was spent rarely outside of the Crentral Shroud. There were quick trips to Gridania, but only if it was in regards of issuing a chocobo to a Serpent of the Twin Adder.

Her brother had moved to Gridania to train as a lancer. Esmond made promises that he would visit them once a week. He had kept his word until a year into his trainer. His visits become less frequent. This caused a large strain in Caelia and Esmond's relationship. Which had already been going downhill since their parents death. Their Grandmother was worried about her grandchildren. She could sense that the two siblings were already walking down their own paths. Only to distance themselves further and further away from each other. The older sibling was ready to leave the nest, but the younger was still growing out her baby feathers.

They've always had a strain in their relationship ever since their parents has passed away. Once close siblings now strangers to each other as the years pass before them. Caelia wonders if Esmond still sees her as part of his kin since he was always so secretive to her. Always running off, not keeping in contact with her a weeks at a time, and only returning when to keep their Grandmother's mind at ease. Whenever she begins to doubt her older brother, he reassures her that he still cares. In recent times, she had lost contact with him for almost half a year. He was last heard that he was in Coerthas. ♥ Noxaelius Avantine : At first, Caelia had thought he would just be another soul she was unfortunate to bump into. Now the young hyur finds herself living under his roof serving as his housekeeper. At first, she claims to be doing this to sleep on his bed. As time passed and the two spent more time together, the girl began to question if it really was for the bed. One thing Caelia doesn't enjoy is Noxaelius' constant bullying and teasing. It often reaches to the point where she's in tears and he could only laugh at her about it. Recently, she's begun to develop feelings for the miqo'te. The male is aware of her feelings but she hasn't come forward to him completely. ● Landon Arivant: She had met the older hyur while she was visiting Ul'dah in the Quicksand. She had been standing close to the exit waiting for an inn room to become available to her. At first, she had grown fond of the man because of the kindness he displayed. Caelia developed a small crush which disappeared instantly after meeting Aeylis, whom he was with at the time. Through a series of encounters, Caelia decided that he would only be a friend to her. ● Aeylis Bloodbinder: Their relationship took to a rocky start because Aeylis had noticed the crush Caelia had on Landon. After many attempts of Landon pestering Aeylis to treat Caelia a little kinder, the two women eventually became close friends. Aeylis acts like an older sister figure to Caelia. Often giving her advice about how she should treat herself and decisions. Caelia is grateful to her because of this. The Highlander has taken up a role that her brother couldn't keep at Caelia's time of need. ● Estee Eyloiss: This airheaded Miqo'te found herself forming a strange friendship with Caelia after bumping into her while they both got lost in La Noscea. She doesn't know why she continues to follow the miqo'te around even after the shenanigans she had been through with her. Caelia assumes it's because the girl needs someone to watch her over and correct her with the many misconceptions she has with things in the realm. ● Rhen Maverick: A male miqo'te that was assigned to escort her back to Gridania when she was summoned by the Conjurer's guild. His stoic and quiet nature made it difficult for her to keep a conversation going. Only responding as minimal and vague as possible when he spoke. Luckily, Caelia has managed to see a glimpse of emotion from him. Which motivates her to get him to open up to her more. He now serves her as a personal guard when she isn't within the company of others under the order of the Twin Adders. Caelia isn't aware of the times he is watching her, but knows he isn't around when she is under the supervision of others.
