Basic Info
Higura is a long way from home, having inadvertently traveled to Eorzea from his own world, and not even realizing he's in a new world. An accomplished Helmsman, he was a naval merchant in his time before Eorzea. An author and inventor, Higura always focused on expanding his mind. Having a heavy Irish accent, he realizes he is probably a long way from his homeland, and hopes to buy a ship to sail back across the Indigo deep; not aware that his home doesn't lie upon the other side of the sea. Creating an alibi, he attempts to tell people he's from Doma, which isn't a very convincing cover story.

Appearance & Personality
Standing at about Five feet and eleven inches, Higura's grey/white hair is pulled into a ponytail, his eyes are violet, and his face is without any marks, or scars. Higura is a tactful, intelligent man, who uses his words to get his way; he is not above getting in a scuffle, as he's seen his fair share of fighting. At worst, he's apathetic to the plights of others, caring for his own desires and goals, over that of a stranger. At best, he's a concerned friend, who will listen; but only help those who mean something to him. Having a Chaotic good nature, he'll do whatever it takes to achieve his goals.
Biography
The Distant Past
A long time ago, in a dimension long gone, Higura was a member of a Galaxy-Faring race who was at war with an alternate dimension; known as the void. The void was tearing holes in the fabric of reality, eventually destroying his home, his people, and eventually his life. Whether by fate, or by chance, his soul was saved, and he was reborn anew in a world known as Erinn; a supposed afterlife. Blessed with the ability to read and write, Higura learned much about his new home, learning that many souls came to this place, but it was not the only place. There were many alternate world, all flowing along time; separately, but together. Realizing there was no way for him to return home, Higura became a sellsword, traveling the land, and learning what he could.
Making many friends along the way, and making a few enemies, Higura eventually amassed quite the fortune for himself, becoming rich beyond his wildest imagination. By accident, he one day met with a self-proclaimed princess, a young girl. He fell in love with her, and the two were to be wed, however; she disappeared without warning. As the world of Erinn was a land of immortals, he knew she couldn't be dead, so he began searching the land over for her. When his search turned up nothing, he gazed across the sea, knowing she was out there somewhere. Hiring a ship out of port, he sailed the world over. His search for her would teach him the art of manning a ship as its helmsman, a skill that would later help him set the foundation for his own Naval Trading Company.
Life before Eorzea
Higura searched the world of Erinn for his betrothed, but it was a fruitless search. He was constantly waylaid by pirates, and even fought a Kraken in hand to hand combat. He returned home many years later, dejected. In his absence, his father came to the land, and the two of them decided to use their knowledge of technology, and sea-travel to start a merchant fleet, and trade with the world. The advent of Firearms came at this time, and the two may or may not have had something to do with it. Establishing the Gainishigi Trade Organization; they traded goods with various nations, fought off pirates, and amassed quite the fortune.
Reviewing a map of the world, Higura realized his search never took him to the far west, and decided to prepare his personal brig, the Failinis, for travel. Upon his trip, he heard stories of the Navigator, or St. Brendan; who traveled across the sea and found a mythical land; but was attacked by a sea monster. He also recounted the legend of Mag Mell, and realized that the land of Mag Mell must be a dimensional portal to another world, he had hoped that he might find it, or perhaps his beloved. It was at this time that his ship was beset by a large, and terrible beast, a Dragon lord; the guardian of the world-hole. Doing all he could to navigate, and fight the beast, he was no match for the creature.
His ship was destroyed and he was thrown into the sea; unknowningly traveling to another world entirely.
