Like most of the Xaela, Khal migrated with the rest of his tribe to escape Garlean persecution. After a long and enduring trip, he settled in Ul'dah with a handful of other Qestir, though it can be presumed this is only a temporary arrangement. He spends his days toiling in the hot Ul'dahn sun, either hauling lumber and stone or else doing manual labor no one has the time/stomach for. At night he sleeps amidst the refugee camp, though due to his appearance finds himself understandably ostracized, and lays his head among the hard stones and the dry brush of the Thanalans.
