The Basics

Born on the battlefield, with Ceruleum smoke in her lungs and blood in her hair, Eva has always been at home in conflict and warfare. Her parents both served their entire lives in the Garlean Army, her father holding the rank of Lux (Chief Medicus) and her mother Oen (Duplicarius). In spite of her low-born status, Eva showed great martial and tactical prowess in her early training and was invited to attend the Royal Academy. At the Academy she underwent rigorous officer training, losing many of her classmates and friends to the perils of the training exercises. She was nearly at the end of her training when the Battle of Carteneau was fought, and denied her place on the battlefield. Both of her parents fell in that fight and, although she was never terribly close to them, she harbors slight resentment for those that fought. Eva played a pivotal role in the fall of Doma, and gained a reputation for her ruthlessness and signature horned helm, dubbing her the "Devil of Doma". Following the death of Gaius van Baelsar, she drifted away from her cozy position at Castrum Occidns and simply walked away. None had the courage to stop her as she left.

Appearance & Personality

Eva is a wiry and muscular midlander, lacking the gangly frame of many of her Garlean counterparts. Her obsession with staying in peak physical shape is apparentin both her muscle tone and confident gait. Her black hair always tied into a pony tail, out of her way. Her deep purple eyes are piercing and maddening all at once, and often bare a look or excitement or anticipation. Usually seen in her black leather jacket and leggings, she will occasionally sport her ceremonial Garlean armor and horned helmet during more intense affairs. Eva often loots the jewelry from her victims and conquests, every one telling a dark and/or humorous story. She stands out in a crowd, not because of her size or charisma, but because she is constantly sizing up all she passes, often glaring uncomfortably at them as a result. Her armor has protected her from gaining any scars, although there are six whip marks visible on her back from a flogging she received during training. She possesses the traditional Garlean Third Eye, but keeps it covered at all times.. for obvious reasons.

On the surface, Eva is a blunt gale-force hurricane, but beneath she is far more placid. She often watches happy families interact, and while she scoffs she wonders what that would feel like. Her collection of Doman writing (acquired during the conquest) has stirred feelings of love and wanderlust that she had never experienced under the fist of Garlean rule. These inconsistencies in her mind often lead to slip-ups during fights and jobs. There is a new Eva emerging, and it will paint a terrifying masterpiece upon Eorzea.

Combat & Weaponry

Eva is a master of one-handed sword combat. Although she is similarly experienced using a shield, and often will, she prefers an open hand for grappling and relaying orders. Her grappling skill is masterful, and she is well versed with pressure points and other maneuvers with her free hand (and headbutts :P) Her former mentor in training taught her to wield a two-handed sword, but she is far more clumsy doing so. She almost always carries her blade, as her skill with hand-to-hand and improvised weaponry is abysmal. Her combat training is very formal and battlefield-oriented. She is also adept at close quarter combat (CQC) and has little trouble is brawls generally.

Biography

Childhood

Although not terribly close to her parents as a child, they were an integral part of her training and inspiration. Her father was adept at healing, and gave her extensive training in battle dressing. Although she lacked the same conjury skill that he possessed, her knowledge of field-dressing can provide enough time for one to arrive, often saving a life. Her mother imbued her with leadership qualities, often placing her in charge of her brothers and sisters as a sort of training exercise. She looks fondly on these memories of her family.

Adolescence

She grew further apart from her family as she aged and entered training, as was custom in Garlean culture. Her brothers and sisters went their separate ways during training, and she has lost touch with them entirely.

Adulthood

During the fall of Doma, Eva led countless excursions tasked at putting down smaller rebellions. Under her command, her unit torched and razed villages to the ground, greatly demoralizing the Domans and crushing their spirits. Her success in this campaign gave her some renown, along with the title "The Demon of Doma"

The Fall of Dalamud At this time, Eva was finishing her training. Her family perished on the battlefield along with some of her brothers and sisters, she never learned how many survived. Assuming she was the only member of her family left she set out to make a name for herself. After her numerous successful campaigns, Eva was given a cushy promotion and sent to Castrum Occidens in La Noscea. Her job bored her greatly, and she eventually just walked out the front gate, forsaking her duties. Nobody stopped her as she wandered to Wineport, in search of drink and excitement in her life.

Present

Eva currently resides in the company of like-minded cutthroats. While she generally avoids jobs she deems as "beneath her", there are few things she will not do for the right price. Her skill with the longsword and various subduing techniques have made her quite good at bounty-hunting, and thus she has found a fondness for this sort of work. She has rekindled her status in the Garlean ranks, albeit in a different manner. After taking numerous lashes for leaving her post, she was assigned as a sleeper agent, and instructed to continue keeping up appearances as a sellsword.
