'''Jeanne Ornitier''' is a Midlander Hyur who lived in a small, unnotable village in Coerthas before she was forcefully relocated to Ul'dah against her will several years before the Calamity. Trained as a Red Mage, she now makes a humble living in Ul'dah as she watches over orphaned children on the streets.

Jeanne was born and raised in a small village in a somewhat forested area of Coerthas, well before the Calamity brought endless winter to the region. She was ten years old when her village was attacked and burned down by bandits, and she and several others were forced into the slave trade. Jeanne wound up in Ul'dah, where she was owned underground for several years until an elderly and wealthy Ala Mhigo refugee named Sigmund Blacke bought her freedom a few years after the Calamity.

Her mother Celhi died when she was young, while her father [[Evien mal Sheol|Evien]] was a renowned genius in the field of aetherology, especially the study of souls. Originally X'Evien Tia and hailing from Sharlayan, when he was younger had attended the Studium and graduated as an Archon. When he met Celhi Sheol, he moved with her the the Shroud and changed his name, loving her enough to embrace the Keeper of the Moon culture. Invia was born shortly after in the South Shroud.

Sigmund gave Jeanne food, clothes, and home for a short couple years, teaching her the art of the Red Mage that he had learned in his youth and sharing with her a fascination for history, but eventually he passed away. Jeanne found herself on the streets of Ul’dah with little gil to her name, but managed to find a job as a barmaid and a small apartment, nothing fancy but livable.

Ever since she was a small child Invia being told them by her ill mother, Invia has been captivated by tales of heroes and knights in shining armor. When given the chance the two of them always went to see plays at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre in Gridania, such as her favorite story ''I Want to Be Your Canary''. She and her friends spent time playing make-believe heroes in the dark woods of the Black Shroud, swimming in the cool rivers and lakes, or exploring the ruins of Amdapor or tunnels of Gelmorra scattered across the woods. It was during these visits to the latter that Invia came to learn something about her nature.

For as long as she can remember, Invia has had an affinity to a certain branch of magicks: the manipulation of the souls of the dead. Since she was young she had had an affinity for ashkin and, to an extent, been able to use their powers for herself. This power of the souls of the deceased also tended to attract voidsent to her, and there were plenty of those wandering the Shroud left over from the War of the Magi. During her childhood excursions into Gelmorran and Amdapori ruins, she had more than one chilling encounter with a ghost or imp of some sort.

Invia's mother Celhi died when she was young, and afterward her father threw himself into his work. It wasn't long before his aetherology research on the soul seemed to have become all he cared about. Eventually it came to a head five years ago, when lamenting the lack of research resources that Gridania could provide to him and Sharlayan's refusal to let him back in after leaving them, Evien turned to a third option: the Garlean Empire. This caused a terrible argument and falling-out between father and daughter, but all Evien seemed to care for was the opportunity to further his research. In the dead of night he crossed Baelsar's Wall to betray Eorzea for the Empire, and from his already existing reputation and skill, he quickly saw himself rise through the ranks to mal.

Her father leaving was the prompt Invia herself needed to finally go off and learn more about her own powers, as well as become a hero like the ones in the stories from her childhood. Invia initially tried to go to Sharlayan for knowledge, but her father's choice to join Garlemald prompted the Forum to bar all access to his family. Instead she chose to settle herself in Limsa Lominsa for access to the many tomes within the Arcanists' Guild.

During the Eorzean Alliance's siege of Ala Mhigo, Invia temporarily split off from the rest of the group to locate her father in his laboratory. During their emotional confrontation the battling throughout the city caused ceruleum tanks to detonate and bring down the laboratory, and despite everything that had happened, Invia shielded her father from the explosions and raining debris. Though on the verge of death, Invia knew she had saved someone she loved...only for him to do shortly the same. Using the fruits of his research into the soul, Evien used forbidden magicks to give his life for his daughter's. Invia was brought back from the other side at the cost of her father's life, and as his last act of love toward his daughter, saved from the destruction and spirited her to safety. The catalyst at the source of this spell was a white crystal pendant, which Invia now keeps on her at all times as a memento.

Her recent near-death experience turned streaks of her hair white and increased her sensitivity to the souls of the dead.

Most of Jeanne’s attention goes to the orphaned children in the back streets and alleys of Ul’dah, showing them the love and care of a family that they need. Her motherly and caring personality shines through when dealing with them, and if she had the gil for it there is little doubt among those who know her that Jeanne would take in each and every one of them. Alas, she does not.

===Appearance===
Jeanne's most eye-catching aspect is her long golden-blonde hair, reaching her hips and kept together in a long braid with a green bow near the end. Her hair is her pride, and the care she puts into it clearly shows. She tends to wear blues, purples, and white, which work with her bright blue eyes. Jeanne's figure is rather pleasing on the eyes, not that she much cares for that, and pointing it out tends to just get her flustered and red-faced.

Several thin silver bracelets hangs on Invia's left wrist, and she wears a white crystal pendant around her neck carved into a teardrop shape and held by a thin gold chain. Her figure hints at a youth spent playing in and exploring the nearby forest and ruins. She's left-handed.

Streaks of her hair are white, and her eyes are a brilliant silver. The streaks in her hair only appeared after a recent near-death experience. She has a sensitivity to ghosts and spirits, and sometimes feels like she can see souls flowing through the normally-invisible lifestream.

===Personality===
Jeanne has been described as motherly and kind, but some have also said she is too naive. Despite her personality Jeanne is a warm, friendly person, but she is also very easily embarrassed. Her motherly aspect most comes into play around children. Jeanne loves kids and is always looking after them, but this comes back to bite her when she uses too much of her simple barmaid’s paycheck and often finds funds for herself lacking.

Invia is a warm, friendly person, but she is lacks confidence in herself and tends to get offended or angry easily even if that wasn't your intent. Invia simply adores children and strives to be a "cool big sister" to any she befriends. She is a self-described tomboy and enjoys swimming and exploring the wilds.

Thanks to Sigmund, Jeanne has a fledgling interest in history, and the darker years of her life were spent thinking up fantasies as a form of escapism, and so now her home is filled with books of both history and works of fiction. When she has free time, she is often found reading them in the sunny Ul’dah streets.

Invia's shelves are filled with books of magick, history, and works of fiction, such as her favorite childhood tale ''I Want to Be Your Canary''. When she has free time and the weather permits it, she is often found outdoors drawing.

Her past also means she tends to have trouble sleeping and recurring nightmares. If Jeanne can help it she never wants to be alone, even if it just means having a few people within sight and not necessarily interacting with her.

Invia Sheol , or Invi for short, is a Miqo'te from the Black Shroud.

History

Her mother Celhi died when she was young, while her father Evien was a renowned genius in the field of aetherology, especially the study of souls.

Ever since she was a small child Invia being told them by her ill mother, Invia has been captivated by tales of heroes and knights in shining armor. When given the chance the two of them always went to see plays at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre in Gridania, such as her favorite story I Want to Be Your Canary.
