Lyzan Valeroyant ''{pronounced: L-EYE-zan  V-ALL-row-on}'' is a scholary student by day, and at night a curious explorer who defies her family's wish to 'stay out of trouble.' Nameday is the 20th Sun of the 2nd Umbral Moon. Family resided in La Noscea, Swiftperch to be precise, before Lyzan's father sold their house. Yet La Noscea is known has home, and the Sea at her shores are dreams.

'''''“You never enjoy the world aright, till the sea itself floweth in your veins, till you are clothed with the heavens and crowned with the stars.” – Thomas Traherne'''''

==Appearance==

Of slenderly, ordinary build, this Elezen is fairer than most of her Duskwight kin. Years of sunlight betwixt the seawater have bleached and faded darker hues. Ashen is her complexion, and of the palest blue is now her shoulder-length hair. Her eyes have always been a brilliant silver, and sensitive to bright lights and full suns. In unfortunate Duskwight fashion, Lyzan has weak eyesight, and wears glasses from time to time. Yet at night she finds the difficulty lessened, or at least less obvious. Her hands are calloused from years of skillful labor, and there are a few hidden scars around her knees and below, from errant fishing hooks, or undesirable aquatic creatures nipping at her exposed limbs. A decade of freely swimming the ocean kept her form toned and flexible, yet those muscles are starting to fade now that she spends most of her time sitting on her rear.

Most of what she owns can be placed into a single bag, which it is, as she lives on a small income sent by her father. Luckily her academical colleges and instructors had hand-me-down robes, or knew of bargained gear that Lyzan could have, and thus this is her usual garb. Purple dye is used liberally, but so are blues and other shades that remind her of the sea. This long-shanked Elezen has an appreciation for large, leathery boots, and although she'll never admit to it, an extensive collection of eye-wear that she hoards like a secret hobby.

The most obvious thing one learns of Lyzan is that she is quite introverted. Not one for loud outbursts, over-sharing, or causing attention upon herself, she would rather observe those around her, and herself, taking comfort within the quiet. However that does not mean she won't enjoy a boisterous friend, or shy away from supporting others in their less than peaceful antics. She just prefers the calm over the chaos, especially if she is the center of the chaos (which would be unheard of even in the most extreme cases). It is not out of personal restriction, or strict upbringing that limits her actions, but rather just the way she has been since birth. The only exception to this is the seduction of tourneying, or crusading, where she may let slip a yell or holler out of enjoyment of watching skilled and trained fighters in action.

Respect is a cherished dictation to this tranquil Elezen. The belief that all deserve consideration and kindness, even when mistakes are made, guides her through the rockiness of life. She has had a few horrible experiences that called into question whether or not all living beings deserved her regard, and a few of them lost such over unforgivable means, but on the whole she is guided by honoring and sharing with those around her. Earning her respect and thoughtfulness is an easy thing to do, but keeping it is valued more. She will never abide by senseless violence, death, destruction for the sake of destruction, or disrespectful wishes upon another. There is no love to be lost for a villain, but perhaps some if honest amendments are made, and change is apparent.

Her first and truest love is with the Sea. Taught to swim as a small child, learned to fish after, and gained skills to campaign on a small dogger by the time she reached adolescence, there is nothing Lyzan wouldn't do if it meant earning sanctuary upon the waves of the blue. The water is in her very blood, much like her mother before her, and more so than the rest of her extended family. She would take up her own navigation and dwell upon the brink of uncharted waters if it wasn't for her father's insistent dictation for her become something more than a fisher and sailor. Now she spends half her days directing her attentions to the stars, as memories of their embrace on nighttime sailing excursions still her restlessness.

There is something beneath the ocean-loving, star-studying, softly spoken Elezen that is only known if she is comfortable sharing with any who ask (except for her family, they would be very upset with her). Lyzan has been romanced, since the start of her time spent living in the various city-states, by the powerful skill of wielding a weapon, and combating. She daydreams about what it would be like to be such a warrior, decorated in the finest armor, graceful like a quick-footed Miqo'te, yet mighty and commanding like a brick-built Roegadyn. Never afraid of the result, sure-footed and victorious, and gallant in all adventures. Perhaps the desire to become a trained and battle-worn knight is borne of being an exact opposite of her own standings, or maybe something secreted away inside of her wants self-commanding power and independence. Whatever the cause, it grows within, clawing at her will to act upon it. One day she may get the chance.

''“The [fishing] trade rose to prominence in the nation of Limsa Lominsa, owing to the plentiful waters upon and around Vylbrand island."''

Family trained fisherman and sailor for fifteen years, although nowhere close to mastering techniques yet. Has an above average knowledge on knot-tying, lure/bait choices, boat rigging, mast and sail repair, and underwater diving. Is well versed with manning a fishing smack, dingy, cutter, lugger and dodger. Anything with three masts is above her personal experience. Can understand and plot routes with maps, and has average star-charting abilities. Does best at sea during the night, due to personal reasons, but can overcome the difficulty during the day if needed.

''“Adepts of the art of arcanum derive their might from symbols of power born of geometric techniques hailing from across the southern seas. Held within occult grimoires, these symbols lend shape to the arcanist's aether. Using the selfsame symbols to unlock the latent power contained within gemstones, arcanists are also able to summon forth familiars.”''

For the past six years Lyzan has been under strict tutelage with the Arcanist's Guild at Mealvaan's Gate in Limsa Lominsa. Fortunate for this restless Elezen, Lyzan is a quick study, yet she does not have the direct drive to excel beyond a mediocre knowledge. The goal is to be a prominent pillar within the guild and secure a comfortable future (this is not her goal, but her peer's). Lyzan reluctantly follows down the path lain before her, but finds more than one excuse to skim duties or skip lessons whenever possible. Her instructors have tried redirecting her waywardness through the help of the Conjurer's Guild and Thaumaturge's Guild, since she has a very high, curiously so, affinity toward magic-wielding techniques, but her heart is just not involved with such studies. A mentor at Mealvaan's Gate has whispered to her about the power of other such magics, but she pays little to no mind since most days she is stuck with a nose in a dusty book.

While she stays and roams between city-states, Lyzan has started to learn the skills necessary for independent living. The making and mending clothes, since her budge is extremely tight, cooking and harvesting foods beyond the preferred fish diet, and experimental potion making. She has also sought out undesirable adventures of conflict, mostly to earn coin, but to experience life outside a desk and chair. If she can't have the Sea, she will find a rush amongst those skilled to face dangerous combat.

===Strengths & Weaknesses===

==History==

'''Valeroyant''' is an ancient and prominent name once well-known through older generations. '''Asturmaux Valeroyant''' ''{whereabouts unknown}'' was a well-versed and talented Arcanist in his prime years. In his later days he decided to marry and produce an heir, both easily acquired without much trouble. Raminel, his son, was primed and prepared to earn his station beside his father, and take up the legacy when Asturmaux met his timely death. But many years passed, too many in fact, and the once eager Raminel grew restless and restricted, just as Asturmaux grew delusional over his own mortality. The two men clashed many times over placement and promise, and then one day Asturmaux vanished - taking all of his most trusted secrets with him - and denying Raminel the title of heir. ''{None of this known to Lyzan, yet she has heard a few rumors of an elderly Elezen who had her surname. She believes these tales to be nothing but silly stories.}''

'''Raminel Valeroyant''' was released from Asturmaux's predetermined goals, and in this freedom he found peace within the company of the Maelstrom as a sailor. He took part in many conflicts, made friends and enemies, and met his wife '''Lysette Sarrasin''', the expert fisherman of Swiftperch. They took up home along the coastline, and gave birth to two children: Lucien and Lyzan.

For twenty, memorable years, Raminel and Lysette earned a humble livelyhood of fishing the oceans and selling their wares, and gave their children a comfortable and happy life. Raminel hid his rocky past from the family, as it never seemed important or a cause for any concern. Yet conflict came to their door, as it did for all lives within Eorzea. Raminel was called out of his reserved position to help, and Lysette and the children took shelter within the city of Limsa Lominsa. Yet Lysette found sailors in need of extra hands, and left the children with a friend while she gave assistance. Out at sea, under the gleaming moon and stars, the ship Lysette was rigging on was attacked by pirates and she died amongst the other sailors on the destroyed vessel. A body was never recovered, yet pieces of the ship were collected. Raminel's grief pushed him away from raising his now adolescent children, and instead he sent both off to study or train at his choosing, hoping neither of them would find themselves at the mercy of the sea. Lucien became a guardsman for the The Seventh Sage, under the direction of Carvallain. Lyzan was sent to the Arcanist Guild, where Raminel assumed no trouble would befall her.

When not in Limsa Lominsa, Lyzan seeks out trouble, and will one day return to her life at Sea.
