History
"Runaway Sixteen"
For the first 16 years of his life Harlowe Brightly knew nothing but love and happiness. His foster parents Rexas and Sophia Brightly found him near an oasis as a baby. There was no note or letter, just a baby miqo'te sleeping in a basket. They named him Harlowe after Rexas grandfather, a former paladin and captain of the guard. They raised him as their own and loved him unconditionally. Rexas was a blacksmith of little renown and his wife Sophia who was also a Miqo'te, worked as a librarian at the local library in Ul'dahs Thaumaturge guild. The Brightly's lived a very normal and peaceful life and cherished one another every single day.
Harlowe at age 6 was a very carefree child who loved to play pranks on his parents and friends. He possessed a very confident nature and always found creative ways to get into trouble. Harlowes father always noticed how his son seems to always find a way to talk himself out of whatever mischief he creates. The one thing that bothered Rexas the most was Harlowes problem with authorities. Rexas knew one day this type of attitude would put Harlowe in a bad place. So to remedy this, Rexas left the schooling and etiquette training to his wife Sophia.
Harlowe's mother would take him to the library and give him lessons of the culture and history of Eorzea. She taught him etiquette and mannerisms befitting a civilized citizen. Harlowe loved books and he soon realize he had an amazing ability to retain information very rapidly for things he wanted to learn. To his parents surprise Harlowe decided to take up his fathers trade and became an apprentice blacksmith at age 14. His ability to craft weapons and mold armor came easy to him and he had a strange affinity to metal. Harlowe's love for combat came to him at a young age, he would sneak into the Eternal Flame training camp and watch the soldiers perform in their training exercises. He would memorize their stances and mimic them on a training dummy back at his fathers workshop. Harlowe had an aptitude for battle and learned that of all the weapons he's tried to master none of them came easier to him then the swiftness of a hilt and blade.
At age 16 Harlowe learned what it was like to kill a man for the first time. A couple of Syndicate soldiers came around collecting tax money from the local workshops and started harassing his parents for more money. Angry at how his parents were treated Harlowe confronted the soldiers and demanded that they leave his family alone. The soldiers laughed at Harlowe and demanded more money from his parents for his outburst. Harlowe not understanding the consequences of his actions attacked both soldiers and killed one of them by accident. Harlowe stared down at the wounded soldier that was still alive and his parents watched in horror as their once innocent son now had the look of a killer. Rexas not knowing what to do advised his son to run and never look back. Harlowe's mother gave her son one last hug and told him "love is stronger then hate son.. please don't forget that". Harlowe reluctant to run away did as his father asked and never looked back.
"I am Havoc."
Two years into exile Harlowe ended up in Limsa Lominsa and joined the Rogues guild. There he learned of a man who was once a master of the shadow arts which intrigued Harlowe so he set out to meet this man. After a very long year of searching he manage to meet this master and learned of the arts of Ninjustu. Harlowe would train everyday for 2 years to master his new found art. His training would lead him to his new profession - Assassin. Harlowe was very good at his new profession and learned he also had an affinity for killing. One fateful day Harlowe was asked by a very influential trader to assassinate a problematic shopkeeper for him. The reward for this assignment was a pardon for his late crime and he would be welcomed back to Ul'dah to reunite with his parents. Harlowe did not hesitate and accepted this assignment with all due haste.
His target would be at the docks at an hour pass dawn and he would be wearing a cloak trying to hide from being assassinated. Harlowe would have to kill the target before he got on their ferry or else the deal was off. Harlowe used his hide ability to sneak up on his target and managed to get behind him. He ran up swiftly behind the target and in a matter of seconds he slipped both his daggers into the back of the target. In that very instance he could hear a familiar voice yelling to stop. Harlowes eyes grew wide, it was Sophia Brightly, Harlowe's mother who was crying out her eyes filled with tears. In horror his father turned to look at his assailant and saw his killer son. Shocked at what his son had become Rexas pulled Harlowe towards him and told his son with his dying breath " ..this...this is not...your fault...you are better than this.." Rexas eyes closed and his lifeless body fell to the ground. Despair filled Harlowe as he watched his mother rushed towards her husband crying. Harlowe could not understand what was happening and dropped to his knees staring at his bloody hands. He looked up at his mother with haunted eyes. Sophia looked into her sons eyes and said to him "this was my fault son.. I knew he would try to kill us one day ... but not like this". He asked his mother why this is happening, she shook her head she replied "I need you to know that we both love you very much ... we will always be with you." She took off her husbands necklace and put it in Harlowes hand and smiled at him. In that split second she pulled a dagger off her husbands belt and opened up her own throat and died in Harlowe's arm. Filled with grief he held his mother in his arms and cursed all the gods for what had happened. He could hear the city guards running towards him, shaking with grief and shock at what he had done he cast Shukuchi to elude the city guard and silently slipped out of the city.
Rage, anger and pain filled Harlowe and he would have retribution. He confronted the trader and asked him why did he have his father killed. The trader replied "A Brightly deserves misery.." not understanding where all this animosity came from he demanded an answer. The trader replied "She was mine.. and he took her from me... ". A lovers quarrel?? All this pain because of ...LOVE?! Harlowe darted towards his enemy. The trader had several bodyguards protecting him so Harlowe had a tough time getting to his target. After a very long hard fought battle he manage to kill all 8 of the traders bodyguards. As he walked slowly towards the trader a red aura slowly appeared around his body. His eyes began to glow red and his hands were stained with bright red blood. He grabbed the trader by the neck and slammed him against the wall, slowly lifting him up the trader asked "...what.. *cough* .. aree.. you..". Harlowe voice had changed and in a deep growling tone he said "I am Havoc".
"Darkness may consume but Light always illuminates"
Another 2 years had passed and Harlowe who was now known as Havoc rampaged across the woods of Gridania killing random monsters and any brigands that crossed his path as he roamed the Black Shroud. He killed a rather nasty Dullahan revenant and used it's claymore as a weapon to train in his dark arts. Something had a grip on him and it spoke to him in his dreams. It trained him in the usage of Dark energy. He would harness this energy to increase his fury and use it against the monsters in the Shrouds. He'd wake up in the middle of the forest not knowing where he was or what he had done. The darkness had consumed him and he had no way of fighting back. The night was long and rain had blanketed the Black shroud, Havocs thirst for blood was so excruciating he went in search of a legendary foe only know as "The Ghost Knight". In Urth Fount he found his foe and attacked it. In a matter of seconds the legendary knight scorched Havoc up and nearly cut him in two. The knight looked down at Havoc and said "You are not worthy..come back when you have more power" he dropped a black warhorn on the ground and rode off. Laying on the ground bleeding, Havoc smiled and felt his life fading away.. As he lay in painful limbo between life and death, as his eyes drifted closed he saw a small figure walking towards him. It was a young miqo'te girl, for a second he thought it may have been his mother..but she was to young. He could feel her hand on his head and it was warm to the touch. She tried to call out to him but he closed his eyes. Just before he passed out he heard her faintly say "..light always illuminates..".
