History

Gakunin Family History

The Gakunin family was known for their small shop. Selling herbs and other miscellaneous things that their children, Jun, Elesis, and Uluka would make. Jun being the first born with Elesis following second and the youngest being Uluka. Not much else is known about the family's history.

Personal History

Elesis was born into the Gakunin family as the second child of Haimosen and Fumiko Gakunin. She grew up as a normal child in Doma and was known to many as a soft hearted girl who would do anything to bring smiles to the faces of all who knew her. Idolized by the younger children and usually called "Big Flower" by her little sister Uluka. For many years the family lived in peace. Having owned a small shop that sold herbs and other items that were either found or made by the family. The father worked on constructing homes while their mother foraged for herbs and house kept. The oldest child, Jun Gakunin, managed the shop while looking over Uluka, and Elesis would usually help with the shop when she was not busy.

It was only when the Garlean Empire invaded when their lives would be forever changed. Garlean soldiers and vanguards flooded the streets. Homes were raided and some destroyed. Civilians squished by vanguards as they roamed about. Most people were striked down if they did not move fast enough while others were taken. The Gakunin family at the time were seperated. The father being somewhere in the village where he would have been working, the mother out gathering, while the brother made his way for the boats to escape with fellow refugees, but Elesis and Uluka were still at home. Uluka was crying hysterically in a corner with Elesis embracing her. Elesis attempted to coo Uluka, trying to silence her as footsteps from outside their home grew louder. It was not long before the soldiers barged into the home, surrounding the two. Uluka cried louder as two soldiers were motioned to Uluka. Over the child's crying Elesis could barely make out what was being said. It was only when they pried the child from her arms that they were taking her. She pleaded with them, crying for them to not harm her, but the pleas fell upon deaf ears as they threw Uluka to the ground and pressed a single blade into the child's skull as she cried for Elesis to help her. A shriek of terror escaped Elesis's lips as she watched the blade plunge into her younger sister's skull. A pool of blood coating the floor in a crimson as their attention turned to Elesis. Crying and screaming. She wished only to hold her sister who lay lifeless on the floor. Killed in cold blood. Her arms reaching for her sister just as the soldiers approached, taking hold of Elesis, and dragging her away. Away from her little sister who adored her and away from the home she grew up in.

Dragged back to one of the ships, she would be placed in a holding cell where she was bound. It was at that point that she knew she was one of the unlucky few to be taken... but for what reason would be unknown until she was brought to a lab along with many others to be experimented on. Years would pass before escaping by "seducing" one of her cell guards. Promising to run off together and start a family. A gullible man who fell for her ruse and allowed for her to escape with him, only to then shove him from the manacutter they were sailing on to escape. Once making her way to mainland Eorzea, she became a mercenary to support herself while remaining in hiding.

Personality

Her Personality Before The Abduction: Before the invasion of Doma, Elesis was a happy woman with a loving family. She was always known to bring a smile to the faces of all whom she knew. Usually being called "Big Flower" by her younger sister, Uluka. An idol she was to all of the younger children in her village. Helping with chores and gathering materials for shop owners.

Her Personality After The Abduction: After the invasion, Elesis became empty after witnessing the murder of her younger sister, a traumatic event that only grew worse when she'd been chosen to become an experiment. Taken from her home without knowing the fate of her other family members, she developed personality issues that caused her to be labeled as "unstable." Often becoming suicidal or homicidal when triggered by words, memories, or even names.

Mental Issues

• PTSD(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder): Elesis's PTSD was caused by the invasion of Doma. Mainly when she witnessed the murder of her younger sister right before her abduction. Not only had the homicide scarred her mentally but the experiments that had been done caused her to nearly go insane. She is often triggered when around Garleans or when speaking about them.

• BPD(Borderline Personality Disorder): Her BPD is another mental problem that Elesis deals with that stems from her PTSD.

Abilities

Regeneration(HEALING SKILL): The way I've made her is that she is able to completely manipulate HER OWN blood. In means to regenerating lost limbs or healing cuts, she would be able to use the blood from said wounds to seal them up, or if it's a missing limb it will take more time to materialize into that new limb. Once the wound is sealed in some way, the red hue of the blood will change to fit the pigment of her skin, and thicken to match the density of her flesh.

Blood Skin(DEFENSE/OFFENSE SKILL): Blood Skin works by forcing blood up through the pores of her skin to create large areas of blood covered skin that can harden flat or create spikes. This works great for defense!

• Flat Blood Skin(DEFENSE SKILL):

Appearance: Flattened, Hard Blood That Lays against the skin.

• Spike Blood Skin(OFFENSE/DEFENSE SKILL):

Appearance: Sharp, Hard Blood That Lays Flat Against the skin. Spikes Are Only One Inch Long Each.

Blood Objects & Clothing(NON-COMBAT SKILL): She is able to simply prick a finger and create objects such as tools(Wrenches and bolts) and clothing. She will be able to materialize them to match the colors she wants and the texture.

Blood Transfusions(HEALING SKILL): Elesis has Type O Blood, this means it is universal, and can be used with any other blood type. She can give transfusions to anyone if needed.

Blood Weapons(OFFENSE SKILL): If she wishes to create a blood weapon, she would need to either carry it around with her(Premade), or create it by creating a decent size gash somewhere on her body to withdraw the needed blood from.

Blood Rope(OFFENSE/DEFENSE SKILL): She's able to control her blood with her mind, whether it's connected to her from a wound or lying on the ground, she would be able to force it to solidify into an elastic texture to be used as a rope, or whip.

Weaknesses

General Blood Manipulation/Weaponization: She can only use her own blood and is prone to blood loss despite her body being able to produce blood faster than normal beings can. This can cause health problems and possible death if not careful.

General Aether Manipulation/Weaponization: She can only use her own aether and will become faint if she uses too much at once.

Weakness To Most Close Combat: She is not the most skilled at close combat, making it hard for her to fight when she has only been taught little about it besides using a lance and daggers. She often prefers to use tendrils of aether or blood as a choice weapon in long-range combat.

"Snaps" When Near Garleans: This may not really be a weakness but a flaw of hers that causes her to go berserk. She becomes unable to function correctly due to being enraged. Her aether becomes strained and her abilities seem more limited.

Not Physically Strong: Though being subjected to experimentation by the Garlean Empire, she is not physically strong, thus having to rely on her aether and blood manipulation for combat.

• Test Subject: I got this inspiration from an old roleplay character that I had when I was about fourteen years old. It was a test subject. So why not revamp an old character for the FFXIV world!

• Blood Manipulation: Got the idea from another roleplayer aswell as Deadman Wonderland. Much weebness.

The leader, Elesis Gakunin, having been born in Doma to a family that would be torn apart by the Garlean Empire. Captured and experimented on which resulted in obtaining an odd ability known as hemomancy(The ability to manipulate blood). Escaping to Eorzea from a lab that was set in Azys Lla. An advocate for those who have had their lives ruined by the Garlean Empire. Once in Eorzea, Elesis began to recruit for her cause. In search of those who may help with the downfall of Garlemald. Claiming to be a scion in her family's memory, she has now formed the group known as Buringā No Hikari(Bringer Of Light), consisting mostly of Scions.
