To most, she's the nameless self-appointed security guard of the farthest reach of the Mist's beachfront; stepping in where she feels the ability to make a name for herself and where the Maelstrom are seen unfit by her untrained eyes. APPEARANCE Adorned in ragged and worn patchwork leather armor several sizes too big for her and a shiny new wood-splitting axe, Ryleigh fails to strike much of an impression on others at first glance. She appears far more ragged and vagrant than as anything respectable, but makes little effort to change that by her own hand. Almost always atop her head is a flat cap that is lovingly kept close at hand; often using it as a shield against uncomfortable topics and closer inspection from others. Underneath lies a mess of chin-length hair that has neither seen comb or a proper aesthetician's hand in moons, leaving the work to her field-tested gloved hands. Being slight of build, both in frame and stature, Ryleigh's only notable feature is her gleaming teal eyes. Likening them to the color of the Rhotano Sea on a sunny day, her eyes openly shift with her expressive moods. Were one to follow behind her on the daily patrols or through town, they might catch the scent of sea breeze even when outside La Noscea's reaches. Recently, her gait has taken on a sluggish aspect, much in part to the weighted armor she wears under her topcoat of leather; a development that's made her patrols take longer than usual and often leaves her exhausted. Aspects That Stand Out: ■ Jagged hair that's been sheared messily and without care to end result. ■ Almost never without her flatcap. ■ Eyes are bright like the Limsan seawater. Oddly saturated and shifting with her mood. PERSONALITY A person of few words to passerby, Ryleigh is almost always open to discourse on most topics if approached. Quiet on matters of the world, she takes on as much of an unbiased position as possible until she knows first hand what she's speaking about. In that way, it's hard to get a straight opinion out of her on most topics in conversation regarding worldly matters. Ryleigh has little difficulty discussing her personal life; casting her past hardships to the side as matter-of-fact affairs that fail to impact her daily life even if her actions prove otherwise. She also has a severe soft spot for armor gawking of those ahead of her in progress; many a time stopping them to see who their craftsman without a thought to whether it'll land a blow in her face or not. It's probably the only topic she'll get excited about outside of boasting her seaside patrols of keeping the Mist running safely under her watch. A person would be hard-pressed to call her feminine on any level, citing the scent of sweat and seawater clinging to her along with the lack of rouge and upkeep on matters of fashion and beauty. That isn't to say that she's without her charms, but Ryleigh openly denounces her feminine side in favor of progress with the axe and her training; often seeing them as weaknesses she's to overcome in part to her own deep-seeded fears. A quiet place she's become fond of thanks to several locals leading her to make she's being thanked for her nosy nature and guardian tendencies; to the point she now sleeps outside most nights along the waterside rather than in her inn room. Ever determined to improve herself, Ryleigh can be found running along the wet sands of the Mist in weighted, wet, armor and practicing her axe swings at random training dummies in the Mist. Will often order outrageous menu items and drinks to put on a facade of strength and importance. M O T I V A T I O N S ■ Honor Ryleigh has two reasons why she's becoming an adventurer at this time. To honor her fallen sibling's wishes to be a note-worthy adventurer and to avoid love and the pain that comes with it. By her logic, people don't get involved with the dirty-workers of the realm and staking her life on the line for honor beats a forced marriage to save the farm back in the Twelveswood. After the loss of her last of kin, she sold her family farm and continues to invest her savings into training and items to help her realize the dream of her fallen brother. He took up adventuring as a side venture after their parents passed away, leaving them the family farm. Ryleigh took up the farmhand work and her brother took up the supplytrade and mercenary life, believing that between the two of them the farm would be seen after and they might garner more business if a successful hero's name were attached. His love of adventuring was cut short protecting the homestead during a night raid. He had worked as an adventurer for a little over two cycles before dying. A new relationship in Ryleigh's life and the first she's spoken to more than once outside of her patrols. He pulled up a chair next to her at the Neverfar, already goading her as she attempted to choke back a drink too strong for her tastes. Quick of wit and tongue, Reiner soon had her submitted to a test in her inebriated state and gaining her curiosity toward his claims of being an experiences fighter. The end result was her bloodsealing a contract to undertake training from him for a sizeable sum of gil provided he outfit her with the best gear and tools available to her. Reiner enjoys toying with Ryleigh; often asking her to do or answer outlandish things at random, such as drinking a foul 'juice' of raw dodo egg, hot paste, and fish for his own laughs under the guise of her training diet. He seems a caring man no less, already having stepped up at the first sign of her sounding lonely to give her an impromptu training session. Artwork Screenshots ಌ OOC NOTES ಌ OOC INFORMATION Player Note Ryleigh is my first foray into a fighting character and I expect the character arcs to take a very long time to come to a head. With that in mind, she is up for any level of role-playing, but I value the dedication and natural progression of long-term RP friends. Please do not interact with Ryleigh under the idea that you'll get close to her immediately. If you want to make some kick ass long-term RP for both our characters to grow in, please contact me in-game or out on the RPC @ Ryleigh! Personal RP Limits I'm 100% for anything that develops naturally, be it quick passion that burns out like a flame or a slow-formed adversary/rivalry. I do have a couple loves and not-loves though. ■ I will play Anything within reason. IC actions and their subsequent consequences. Long story arcs. Merc RP or if someone needs to hire her (just don't expect 100% perfect results, she's new afterall.) If you can do a solid pitch for why something would happen with her, chances are I'll go along with it; up to and including severe injury/disfigurement and temp-death. (Please talk to me OOC before pushing those two though.) ■ I won't play The only thing I will not play with are people who godmod (or use OOC information IC without permission, or force actions on characters without allowing proper RP avenues) and those who cannot separate between IC and OOC interactions.
