[edit] Details Personality Relationships BACKGROUND Zayaka was born into the Avagnar tribe on a cold winter day in the Azim Steppe. Her childhood was for the most part idyllic and uneventful. It was her favorite aunt that took Zayaka under her wing and taught her the best ways to trade and when to travel and where. However, it was her older brother that taught her how to protect herself and fight. As an adult, having honed her trading and fighting skills, she was a productive part of the tribe and generally well liked. While away from her tribe on a seasonal trade route, she was warned by a fellow tradesman not to return to her tribe. Rumor had it that the Avagnar had been defeated by the Adarkim and it was not wise to return. What followed was a series of events that eventually led her to become a refugee in Limsa Lominsa. ZAYAKA'S SECRET I am open to others knowing and using this but please ask OOC before using IC After being warned not to return to her tribe, Zayaka traveled her seasonal routes and lived meagerly while trying to decide what she should do. It was during this time she encountered a Garlean Squadron. At the time, she did not know who or what the Garleans were but agreed to navigate the Steppe in exchange for goods. However, partway through the journey she discovered the true nature of the trip and of the Garleans themselves. Feeling foolish and betrayed, the next day she led the Squadron astray and hastened herself to Doma. There she tried to warn the newly freed Domans of the impending force’s numbers and their plans but was instead labeled as a traitor. Zayaka was then taken in by the Domans who had planned to flee Doma regardless. She provided her blade and protection in exchange for her place on the boat. Her small group of refugees ended up in Limsa Lominsa, where she now resides. Zayaka tries to keep a very low profile for fear of the Garleans she betrayed and of the Domans who labeled her a traitor. APPEARANCE Zayaka is short by almost anyone’s standards only reaching 4 fulms and 8 ilms. With an otherwise average distinction, she relies on her sharp black eyes with bright purple limbal rings to hold other’s attention. She has a few small and faded scars from growing up in the Azim Steppe but nothing out of the ordinary. She prefers to wear clothing of fine materials and beauty that will not restrict movement but is usually seen wearing whatever helps her fit into the crowd. PERSONALITY In most situations, Zayaka simply doesn’t want to stand out more than she already does. She can come off as shy or distant when meeting new people or even disingenuous. However, once she is comfortable she has an easy-going attitude and loves a good joke. The exception is when she is making a trade or deal, Zayaka is confident and affable. LIKES ■ Traveling. Enjoys the personal freedom and new experiences it brings. ■ Fine Materials. Rich silks and uniquely patterned cloths ■ Sweets. Didn’t get to enjoy them very often as a child and is still considered a treat. ■ Night Sky. Feels connected to home and her family. DISLIKES ■ Unwanted Attention. Doesn’t like being called out when she is trying to lay low. ■ Dishonest Merchants. Made a career dealing with them but it still stings when she’s fooled. ■ The Adarkim. Has yet to meet anyone from the tribe but holds a grudge regardless. MOTIVATIONS ■ Survival. Able to adapt to new situations easily, as it comes naturally to her. ■ Fear. Of the Garleans and her status in Othard. ■ Home. To make do with a new one and to see the Azim Steppe again. RELATIONSHIPS FAMILY Zayaka’s Aunt. Zayaka's Thoughts: "I miss her steady guidance and warm smile." Zayaka looked up to her Aunt from a young age. She taught her the art of trading and was her mentor. Zayaka’s Eldest Brother. Zayaka's Thoughts: "It pains me to think he might have fallen it battle. It pains me more to think he might not have had the chance." Zayaka’s brother was one of the better warriors in her tribe. When she was still a child, he once stepped in to protect her from a fight. When all was said and done, he promised to never protect her again because he would teach her to do it herself. NON-FAMILY Doman Refugees. Zayaka's Thoughts: "I’ve stayed in touch with a few of them. I still owe them for their kindness." Zayaka traveled with them from Doma to Limsa. It is one trip she would not want to repeat. She checks in on them from time to time but is not very close to anyone.
