At age 20, Dillon was assigned by the guild to work in a field hospital operated under the Eorzean Alliance at Camp Bronze Lake. Although familiar with working with the Alliance, this time he was sworn to secrecy on the nature of his work. Upon arriving at Bronze Lake, he understood why; at the far end of the now-drained lake, the hospital was tending to Garlean P.O.W.s far away from the prying eyes of the Warmwine Sanitorium which housed wounded members of the Alliance. Dillon was told that the hospital was an effort to foster goodwill with the Empire; he questioned the wisdom of housing the Garleans so close to their own wounded, but even Dillon couldn't argue with the hot springs' healing properties; the Garleans' best hope for recovery was here. Still, he felt uneasy in his work, but found comfort in befriending a fellow conjurer, a Hyur woman named Sara.

| At age 20, Dillon was assigned by the guild to work in a field hospital operated under the Eorzean Alliance at Camp Bronze Lake. As skirmishes continued between the Garlean remnant and the Alliance, Dillon and his fellow healers remained at Bronze Lake for two years tending to the injured. What began as friendship between him and Sara had now blossomed into romance, and the two had agreed to be wed as soon as the guild recalled them. For a time, the work kept Dillon's mind sharp while his betrothed kept his soul merry, but as the months dragged on, he couldn't help but notice a change in his fiancee. When once they would spend their off-time together, Sara would now wander the ruins of Nym; when she tended to her patients, she now met them with disdain or complete silence; when others invited her to discuss new research and techniques, she would sequester herself with tomes of more... elder teachings. Concerned that Sara was losing heart in their good work, Dillon followed her to the Nymian ruins so they could speak in private. When he arrived, he was met with the sight of Sara torturing a Garlean, experimenting on him, weaving spells which made the Garlean's skin boil and tear and crack and weep. When confronted, Sara laid out her twisted plan in its entirety; how she had hoped to devise a sickness, a plague which the Garlean could carry with him back to Garlemald to infect the rest of the population. Dillon challenged her, hoping to bring her back to sanity once she saw the evil of her ways; instead, she attacked. It wasn't Dillon's intent to kill her, but he was left with no choice when Sara tried to turn her experimental disease against him.

| As skirmishes continued between the Garlean remnant and the Alliance, Dillon and his fellow healers remained at Bronze Lake for two years tending to the injured. Still, there were worse problems than the death of a single conjurer; a member of the Eorzean Alliance had tortured a prisoner, and any goodwill the Alliance hoped to gain from the Empire was no more. The hospital was disbanded, and all of the Garleans were returned to the Empire except for Sara's victim, whom was accompanied by Dillon back to Gridania for treatment and evaluation to ensure the Garlean posed no threat to the populace. For a time, Dillon remained with the Guild, but the questioning glances and hushed whispers of his guildmates wondering if Dillon truly knew what Sara was doing became too much. Again, he felt as if he had no home, and so he left Gridania to continue honing his craft in the arid lands of Thanalan. |

[edit]
Dillon stands fairly tall for a Midlander male, reaching a lean six feet tall. He carries himself in a more relaxed manner in most situations, leaning or slouching against any nearby surface that will support him. His hair, a vibrant red, is usually pulled back into a ponytail for the sake of keeping it out of his eyes, caring little for how messy it may look. His face is diamond-shaped with a slightly crooked nose and thin lips. His eyes are almond-shaped and a vibrant green with thin, dark red eyebrows. Each of his ears carries a multitude of helix piercings, and he regularly paints his face with symbols and markings passed down by his tribe. Dillon also has a tattoo sleeve on his left arm that extends from the shoulder to his elbow. He has a lean, toned frame, suggesting a routine of moderate fitness. Dillon is quick to put on a smile or fill a room with laughter; he typically wears clothing unique to his tribe, though he will dress up more formally or professionally when necessary.
Aspects That Stand Out:
CHILDHOOD Dillon was born into a nomadic tribe of Midlanders who called the deep woods of the Shroud their home. Like the other children, Dillon was raised to hold absolute respect for nature and the preservation of life, adopting the practice of veganism and shunning the practice of magic for the burden it placed on the land. One day, Dillon and his brother wandered away from the camp to play in a nearby river and were set upon by a pair of river yarzon. Though they managed to escape, Dillon was bitten and soon succumbed to the yarzon's poison. Certain that Dillon would die, the elders of his tribe made him comfortable as he started to pass. It was the middle of the night when Dillon's body began to glow, alight with borrowed aether as his body cleansed itself of the poison; a sign that Dillon had now awoken to his talent with the healing arts. Abhorred by Dillon's recovery, he was cast out of the tribe and forced to wander the forests alone. He lived this way for two years, until a Wood Wailer scouting party discovered him at the tender age of 13 and brought him into Gridania proper. It wasn't long before Dillon's talent for healing was noticed, and he was taken in by the Conjurer's Guild.
