The Otaroi are a clan of rich swordsman, with a density dating back to the first astral era. The clan has mostly been one of several warring eastern states, competing with its neighbor for land and resources in a constant state of turmoil. The Otaroi, although legendary swordsman by their own merit, had many rivals during the Age of Blood and did not become peacefully govern until the unification of the lands by the Bakufu government. Now, primarily a business Clan. Their main form of revenue lies in their western trade and gold mining in the Marashi Hills that are in the heart of their land.

However, when word of rebellion against their hundred-year-old oppressors grew, the Village began to silently harbor rebels and other forms of malicious activity against the Empire. Yashi was raised in The Age of Blood, along with his three brothers, during which he was taught the ways of the Warrior since the age of five. In his studies, he was taught military tactics, strategy, unit design and swordsmanship from the Clan elders, even surpassing them in the art of Kenjutsu and other forms of Martial Arts. Even with his talent for Warfare, the young Yashi also trained in Academic studies. He learned to read and write all the Langues of his native people and even taught to speak Erozean, though he never mastered reading it. He was also taught to paint, Sing, play the lute, and even grew a fondness for the western game called Triple Triad.

When Yashi turned 14, his life of study came to a close and he was thrust into the world of blood and steel. He was sent to the Clan military, where he quickly rose through the ranks as his skill for war and bloodshed became obvious. However, with every new battle, a love of War grew in him and he soon found himself enjoying the thrill of battle more than his peers ever did. It was this love and skill for combat that earned him the name "The black Wolf of War" for the rest of his life.

However, when word of rebellion against their hundred-year-old oppressors grew, the Village began to silently harbor rebels and other forms of malicious activity against the Empire. When the Garleans learned of this treachery, their wrath was swift and brutal.

They raised the Village to the ground and crucified its inhabitants.
