BASIC INFO

Kenji, or Ken as those close to him call him, can almost always be found working on a new invention or improving an already existing one. His love of creating new things is only matched by his desire to constantly grow and learn. While often shy and overly polite, he loves to meet new people.

HISTORY

Kenji was born to a lavish family in Othard. For several generations the families position has been in a state of decline causing the heads of the family to push their descendants to strive for power and prestige. Growing up with a family with five other siblings Kenji was often placed in situations of competition. As the second born son he was never intended to inherent the family estate and as such was groomed to join the warrior caste, to bring prestige to his family through exploits of war. Much like his other siblings Kenji would have ended up entitled and power mad. The only reason this failed to happen was due to a gardener working at the estate grounds. Kenji became impressed by the strange tools and objects this man used and approached him on several occasions. Eventually the man showed Kenji his inventions and began training him to make his own. Among learning to make his own machines the man taught Ken much about the outside world and pointed out to him the flaws of his parents behavior and life. Kenji received from this man the closeness and love his parents failed to give him.

Though Kenji failed to get along with all his other siblings he developed a close bond with his younger sister Shiori. Kenji would often spend what little time he had free with his sister and in many cases would end up helping her get out of the messes she got herself into. Often Kenji had a habit of getting into fights with the guards who spread rumors about his sister activities.

After almost a decade and a half of training from his mentor his parents had caught on and in a fight of displeasure forced Kenji to watch as his friend and mentor was killed in front of him. Intended as a threat and lesson it only fueled his anger, distancing him from the family further. After failing to confront his father Kenji elected to flee his long time home deciding the place was no longer fit for him and no longer safe. His journey finally lead him to Eorzea where he stayed in the South Shroud for six months. There he learned much about the customs of Eorzeans until the day that lead him to the Dalamud's End.

PERSONALITY

Kenji on first glance can appear to be very imposing. Though often he resorts to acting polite to those he has just met. Being a firm believer in not judging a book by it's cover 'something learned from his mentor' Kenji will often try to reserve his judgments until he has learned more, however he is not always successful doing so. Kenji has a habit of getting easily distracted by new things and will often become flustered when he is flirted with, unsure how to respond. Once Kenji manages to warm up to a person he becomes more vocal and willing to talk openly to them. He can often be compared to a puppy. Willing to please people as he derives joy from others, though as a result he often tends to be clumsy making the smallest of mistakes which lead to a ridiculous reaction from him. He is quick to come to aid of those he cares about but choosing to avoid those he dislikes by either choosing not to speak to them or simply limit their interactions as much as possible.

Kenji is below average height for a male Au Ra though still taller than most other people. His skin is a light tan and the shade can change with the lighting around him. His hair is a dark brown color which he has recently let grow out. Something he has generally avoided for a long time. He has always had his hair kept short since he was ten and never allowed it to grow long again. Kenji's body is well built but not overly muscular, his training to become a warrior has formed his body well and taught him a healthy life style for maintaining his form. However his physical strength seems to exceed his appearance as some at the Dalamund's End have learned.

Kenji's choice of clothes tend to lean towards loose articles allowing for more free movement which compliments his combat style. On rare occasion Kenji will wear armor though often he will avoid it when possible. He has taken out his family armor and begun wearing it when out on combat missions. The Raen's wardrobe was very limited until X'rhen took him shopping in Uldah.

PLOTLINES AND ACTIVITIES

General Activities

Ken works as the Chief Engineer and Commadore of the Dread Wyrm privateers being in charge of all structural and material objects such as their fleet of airships. His focus is to insure the ships of the fleet are operating well and keeping R.N.D. progressing forward with new creations. Captain of the . Beyond his position in the Dread Wyrms Kenji spends some of his spare time creating personal inventions, though his job has reduced the time he can commit to this exploit. He has also joined X'rhen as a partner on his underground contracts. Together the two go around repossessing property for their clients, something Ken finds invigorating and useful to keep his senses in shape.

Of his current ongoing projects Kenji is drafting blueprints for an airship design (personal) and hopes that success will lead him to a more complicated project. Ken is also attempting to understand and utilize unaspected crystals obtained from a spell gone wrong with which he seeks to utilize as a power source.

FAMILY

★♥ Shiori Eikitaika – The only sibling Kenji feels close to and is protective of. The two of them share a strong bond that has developed throughout their childhood. Kenji feels like Shi is one of the few people he can trust though his heart is still sore from the way they parted in Othard, though he avoids mentioning it. The two of them often tease each other.

● Yuuto Eikitaika - Kenji's father and the single person Ken hates in the world. Always cold and distant through Ken's childhood he cared for nothing but results from Kenji's training. The man wedged the final piece between them when he executed Kenji's mentor as an example. Cold and calculating, a master of manipulation, and willing to harm even his family to insure the progression of the families power.

● Rin Eikitaika - Kenji's mother. A woman that practiced distance herself from her children. Ken had little interaction with her as she focused her attention on his sisters. Though he quickly learned from Shiori that she was no better than their father.

● Hiroshi Eikitaika - Kneji's older brother and the first born. As the inheritor of the family estate he has often lorded it over his other siblings especially Kenji who he stops at every turn to fight with. The two developed into strong rivals as their opinions constantly clashed. The favored child of Yuuto.

● Kimiko Eikitaika - Kenji's older sister and the first born daughter. Ken has had little interaction with her but from what Shiori has told him she is a viper and a master of court intrigue. A prim proper lady who constantly has abused Shiori.

● Kenta Eikitaika - Kenji's younger brother. A complete and gluttonous prick who constantly abused the servants to his end. There are several occasions that Kenji would hit his younger brother for the horrible things he did to others.

● Isamu Eikitaika - Kenji's youngest brother and born very sickly. His ill nature left him largely ignored by their parents who saw him as a waste of space. Ken saw him scarcely as he was often kept hidden away and Shiori often went to care for Kenta. As far as Ken is aware Kenta is dead after he was sent away from the estate and Shiori's treatment was forcefully stopped.

FRIENDS

★♥ X'rhen Tia – The bartender of the Ruby. A flirty and teasing young miqo'te that Kenji lives with. Over time Kenji has developed a strong friendship with him that has slowly started to turn into more. Never feeling these emotions before has caused Ken to be cautious and fearful of ruining his relationship with Ren. The Au Ra was drawn by the miqo'te's kind and friendly manner.
