| − | Not much is known about Koto's early life. At the age of 4, her father had escaped persecution and brought her with him to the tribe of Malaguld in order to start a new life. He vanished without a trace shortly after and Koto was adopted by a friend of her father, Arik Malaguld.

However, because of the garleans she had to escape from Othard, getting separated from the rest of her tribe and from her family. She arrived in Eorzea, specifically Ul'dah, but found herself at loss what to do. With no money or no home she started to lay with strangers in order to receive clothes, food and a roof over her head, occasionally obtaining supplies for her weaving hobby meanwhile.
