History

Marcellain "Marcy" Chevallier was a minor celebrity during '73-75. It is suspected that he was a part of a ploy ran by an illegal Ishgardian sect to use innate Bard powers for profit. Due to his short-lived career, these claims were never fully investigated.

We believe he was born in Gridania, as most of his extended family still remains there. Marcellain has been excommunicated from the Shroud due to a [REDACTED]. This event caused him to leave for Ul'dah at the age of nineteen, seeking employment until his singing career seemed to have exploded overnight. He has done tours of Ul'dah and Limsa, where his shows were sold out months in advance.

In late '74, Marcellain's career has taken a sudden plunge. As the interest in his persona dwindled, he was forced to return to Gridania under the pressure of his uncle [REDACTED] that has helped raise Marcellain after his biological parents have separated. Tensions grew quickly as it became evident that despite his talents, Marcellain had zero interest in following his family's vision of the perfect Gridanian bard. He departed for Ul'dah for the final time.

Recent History

Marcellain's return to fame over the past few months has been unexpectedly rapid. Rejecting a singular patronage, he has become known for his performances in the Lavender Beds, the Goblet, and to a lesser extent, La Noscea. He can be often found performing at Menphina's Respite and other open-mic venues, as well as helping promote and teach up-and-coming talent.

A recent incident with an independent venue at the Nanawa Mines has resulted in Marcellain's arrest and subsequent political scandal with the Monetarist authorities. His case is currently pending.

Physical evaluation

Marcellain is of average bulk and height for a Wildwood Elezen. His body builds muscle well, despite being lanky and long-boned it is evident that he keeps his body in functional** shape. His skin is prone to sunburn and pigmentation. Freckles on nose, arms, and shoulders. Pierced ears, a small notch in his right one. His teeth have a slight overbite, probably because of all these stupid toothpicks he is chewing.

**We have asked him to perform a quick target practice to confirm his competitive achievements. After a brief argument over an "inferior, peasant-grade bow"[sic], Marcellain has hit nine targets out of ten at a distance of 500 yalms. He has missed the last one due to rude language, threats of violence, and having the weapon confiscated.

Psychological evaluation

Marcellain shows every sign of a classical narcissist recovering from an extended trauma. He does not react well to loud noises, isolation, or criticism. His responses are either violent or juvenile, and show no healthy ability to cope with stimuli. A program incorporating meditation, exercise, and creative expression is recommended.

The convict is highly intelligent and is able to read assumed intent; proceed with caution and do not rely on emotional cues to affect him. You may explain the treatment plan and threaten further isolation should he choose not to comply.

Keep his public status in high consideration. The demise or silencing of this individual is to be avoided at all costs.

Some hooks:

The Chevallier family is huge, well respected in Gridania, and actively involved in the community. They focus on woodcraft and archery. Marcy has many cousins and siblings, and is out of touch with most of them -- he has been disowned.

Despite his genuine desire to do good, he's prone to bad decisions and accidents and gravitating towards awful people. He is young and impulsive, and will go along with almost everything that is not obviously morally reprehensible. He is mortified of murder. He has high, Romantic ideas about art, justice, and social revolution.

He used to offer services as an archer that helped orchestrate heist escapes for other criminals in Thanalan. He no longer does this, nor does he beat up small business owners for money, but past has a tendency to crawl back.

Recently, he has started to build his career as an independent musician, and is rumored to abuse aetheric bard powers for the sake of entertainment. He has a small, but fast growing fan club, and can be found performing at Keeper's Kiss open stage nights.

He's pretty sure all Duskwights are vampires. He's gonna write a book about it.
