Basic Info

General Overview

Meenya is a half-hyur Miqo'te. Born to a Miqo'te mother, V'mage Byh, and a Hyur father, Thormod Lockheart. Although this is becoming more and more common, being neither Miqo'te nor Hyur leaves Meenya with identity issues and an inferiority complex. Keeping herself distant from others and has very few friends to speak of. Despite what she may tell you herself, Meenya is a skilled warrior and survivalist. She is gifted in the Dark Arts and wields the greatsword Lockheart, a gift from her father. Although the path of the Dark Knight is her style of choice, she still has much to learn and she is more proficient with a lance. Outside of the spells of the Dark Arts she has little understanding of the way of magic. Preferring to solve her problems with steel and strength rather than magics and mind. She is gifted with the Echo, but has no understanding what it is or what it means.

History

• Childhood - Meenya was born and raised in Gridania. Her fourth year of life was a difficult one, unbeknownst to her, having developed the power of the Echo. She was beset by countless nightmares of the deaths of people she had never met, her waking hours tormented by the Red Moon. Meenya's parents sought the conjurer's guild for aid. Due to many others experiencing similar problems the Conjurer's could not help. Thankfully these problems decreased over time until they vanished almost entirely. At age five she began Lancers training under her father. Learning the arts of war and survival skills. She played and fought in the woods of the Black Shroud for much of her young life. Daydreaming of the lives of adventures like her father before her.

• Teenage Years - When Meenya was 13 her father became ill and the lancers guild oversaw the last year of her training. After which the guild master recommended her journey to Dragonhead and request to undertake Dragoon training. Only a few months into her training the calamity struck. Meenya had been out in the field when Dalamud failed and Bahamut was released. It had been luck that she found herself at the edge of the destruction and only has a small scar to show for it. But the sight of the Calamity caused her to lose faith in herself. After which she abandoned her training returned home to aid with recovery efforts. Two years after the Calamity Meenya returned to her training at her parents insistence.

• Adulthood - At age 18, around the time of Ishgard reopening, she met a Dark Knight. An Elzen named Iphix, that told her she had a great gift that he could help her control. When she told her parents, her father was less than thrilled forbidding her from meeting this man or fallowing his arts. For the first time in her life she disobeyed her father and undertook Dark Arts training. Writing home often, more of out of regret than anything. She however was not deterred. and spent months practicing the way of the Dark Knight. Before the end of her training, Meenya's master disappeared without a trace. She searched for him to no avail, and after failing that returned home. Just in time for her 19th nameday and quite a surprise. Her Father, proud that his daughter had finally taken her life into her own hands, reached out to some friends and had the greatsword Lockheart made for her. A gift for her nameday celebration. Since then she has spent her days wandering Eorzea looking for her master and drifting from job to job.

Personality

Meenya is very shy when talking to new people due to her inferiority complex. Believing that there's nothing she can do that a pure blood cant do better. Possibly Meenya's biggest challenge, as she is so concerned with others' feelings that she refuses to make her thoughts known, or to take any duly earned credit for her contributions. Never letting others aid her on the grounds that to do so would burden another. A lack of emotional expression often causes her to a lot of stress and frustration. Someone persistent enough could get her to open up about her feelings. However someone too pushy could cause her to lock up entirely. She has tremendous trouble opening up to people, but underneath that is a kind and honest person. She is always ready to help someone else and is incredibly patient. Despite her own trouble with emotional expression she is a pillar of emotional support for those that need it. On the field of battle on the other hand its as if someone else steps into her body. Meenya's shy demeanor and anxiety melts away leaving a cool confident warrior behind. However the longer a fight goes on the more aggressive her fighting style becomes. This is part in due to the pent up stress that she so easily accumulates and part due to the effects of her Dark Knight training. After a fight she returns to her normal self, usually stating that said battle was only won by luck and not due to anything on her part. If the battle was lost she would say that this was the only expected result because she was not skilled enough to win. Meenya's love of adventure stories has left her with a desire to learn about the world and its people.
