The Basics

Tani doesn't much care for stereotypes. She enjoys math, sure, but that doesn't mean she has to waddle about swathed in cloth and peering out at the world behind spectacles. She balances account books for her primary living, but that doesn't mean she can't enjoy watching gladiator matches, or enjoy peeking at the latest creations from the Weaver's Guild. No. She likes people, loud venues, fashion, style, and class. She enjoys finding things that are illogical and making them make sense. She works within a very regimented and staid system, and she makes it her bitch.

Every person is a study in contradiction in some ways. People aren't logical objects. They are wild, varied subjects, born to create rules, try to fit within them, and always fail.

Maybe that's why she loves them so much.

Appearance & Personality

Fair-skinned, auburn-haired, bold-mannered, boundary-breaker: Tani in a nutshell. She obsessively grooms and clothes herself, and can always be seen wearing black gloves. Why? Ask her. Maybe she'll answer. Conversation is an art form she'll never get enough of, after all. Just like clothing. She dresses loudly, and enjoys showing skin. Attention is something she seeks, and she'll readily admit it; some are like as not to call her a vain puff of a woman. Why don't you see for yourself?

But when it comes to business, she knuckles down hard. Even with her tendencies to find a good ol' time, she is terrifically punctual. She gives warning well in advance when she's going to be late turning in work. If she says she'll do something, she'll do it. She's a perfectionist, crazy about numbers, and maintains a sterling reputation for discretion. However, when it comes to doing things below the table, there are rumors but never any hard proof. Paperwork that she has submitted on behalf of her clients seems to never get questioned, and she herself hasn't been a subject for investigation. And yet, some of her clients are of the disreputable sort, whereas she is widely known to be aboveboard.

Biography

Before

Her family were refugees from Ala Mhigo. Merchants. They didn't fare so hot finding new ways to conduct their trade in Ul'dah, and they fell on hard times. Tani learned as a teenager how to make some of her own money. Tani learned how to bend the rules. Tani made mistakes. Tani learned why it can be a very, very bad idea to bend the rules.

After

Reinvention came with its own price, but Tani gladly paid it. She separated herself from her past, her family, and ruthlessly squashed anything that might destroy her shot at happiness. However, it's harder than you think to squash your own bad habits, which is something she realizes in spades.

Now

Having established herself as a bookkeeper across all three major city-states through blood, sweat, and tears, Tani is an easygoing sort who will viciously defend her business should she feel it's threatened.

After a disastrous attempt to invest in a burgeoning merchant, Tani found herself abysmally low on funds. With her business compromised, she went looking for work and found the Abarstyrn Marauding Company. Settling herself in as their bookkeeper and expert in trade law has certainly proven interesting!

Circumstances shifted unexpectedly, and Tani quietly left AM to join her trusted companion, Minalla, in her new venture as a restaurateur. But, perhaps things aren't all quite as they seem...

Girl has ambition, that's for damn sure.

They've their share of arguments (particularly when it comes to mess), but they've enough shared history to overcome much. Tani trusts her more than any other person, and would sacrifice much to aid her. ●● Minalla Dieu-le-veut : Despite a recent chain reaction that lead to bloodshed, Tani and Minalla have come out of it bonded as friends. There is a mutual respect between the two women that's been tested and proven, and Tani will do much to protect what Minalla has built. ● Zeiwix Duimione They have a good business relationship marked by regular testing of each by the other. For now, they circle each other, probing for weakness with the Menagerie and its opportunities between them. ● Haname Okeya She's a good lass, an enthusiastic worker, and pretty darn adorable.
