 +
Respect is a two way street, but it should always start with you giving respect to another person. We are all here to have fun and no one likes to be treated like crap, so do onto others as you would have them do onto you, and also be mindful of your fellow 14 players. If you start to get trolled, either block them or/and report them, don't snap back, just let them make the mistakes and be the one to look bad. If they are curious about Roleplay, let them try their hand at it and if they are not doing so well, let them just try. Ask, privately if they like some advice if they continue to stumble after  a few rounds, but give them a chance and always be willing to help them grow.<BR><BR>

'''2: BE AN ADULT AND KEEP DRAMA DOWN'''
 +
 +
We are all adults here, well, most of us I'm sure. If you have a problem break out oocly, try to work it out in private, don't bring it to public. We all have our issues and sometimes we may rub shoulders the wrong way, but the rest of the world doesn't need to know it about. If you have trouble working it out privately or don't feel comfortable dealing with the problem yourself, contact an officer/leader to be a mediator between you two. No one likes OOC/RL drama and no one likes to see friends go at it, while sometimes we can slip up, out of the fact we are just human, but try to just remember to keep it in private conversation, step away if it gets to heated to cool down, and just try to work things out.<BR><BR>
 +
'''3: NO OOC RUMOR MILLING'''
 +
 +
Don't do it, please? Rumor Milling or spreading around OOC rumors can break down a community or really hurt someone when many of those rumors could be false. If someone tells you about Joey is always a jerk and can't be trusted... Keep it to yourself. Don't go telling Sam, Sue, and Max all about Joey and hen they in turn do the same, when you may all find out later, Joey is a really good guy! Its just the way he portrays his character. Truth, after all, always finds a way to the surface, so let Joey show who he really is and don't go around spreading possible lies. Even if maybe those rumors were once true, it doesn't always apply to the NOW, as people can also change and no one should have baggage held over their heads.<BR><BR>
 +
 +
'''4: BE SUPPORTIVE'''
 +
We have new players sometimes join our ranks, those who don't have long years of RP experience. This is great! New blood to the Roleplay is always good to see! However, sometimes new blood doesn't always know the courtesy rules like we do. They will make mistakes, they will slip up, and sometimes fall flat on their face. For those that have the experience, your job is to help mentor them and as a community, have patience with them and help them. If they are unsure about something, do your best to help explain it to them. If you see them constantly doing something that is kind power-gaming or godmoding, reach out to help express how that is not really curdious to the other Roleplayer. Sometimes they just don't realize these are things and other times, they don't even know what those words are. Just think back to when you first started and how you knew nothing till many years later. That is some of these new roleplayers, so give them a hand, and let our actions, our curtosey to one another continue through, because they to, may one day, be the torch carriers for our community.</div></div>

 +
An individual that uses situational circumstances without the expressed consent of participating parties involved to further the impressing of their character (be it positive or negative) for personal gain. This is different from a Meta Character as the latter utilizes external source information to further the impressions of the character.<br><br>
 +
 +
'''OP Situations'''<br>
 +
This is often viewed as the 'perfect world' where the situations are beneficially situated to cater to one's goal without inclusion of external 'world' elements. '''This is not tolerated.'''<br><br>
 +
 +
'''How to avoid either scenario?'''<br>
 +
Know your character. Know your audience. Know your setting. Have a basis. If you are a fresh character that is new to the world, you will not instantly know your surroundings. If you are inexperienced in swordplay, you are not going to instantly know how to defend yourself. Base your actions on 'attempts' especially if there is uncertainty regarding the other party's reactions. This is why we have 'rolls', to provide a relatively fair likelihood for outcome UNLESS something other had been set by participating parties. This means, first and foremost, communicate with those involved. Of there is even a hint of external conflict based on player decisions, address it before escalation.<br><br>
 +
 +
'''As a reminder:'''
 +
We are adults. No one is OP. All are vulnerable. None are without fault. Keep this in mind and please act accordingly.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Born and raised in the Raen homelands within the eastern-most mountains of Othard, Sora Kihoshi is part of an old, respected, and wealthy family. Fleeing the oppressive Garlean Empire and the blood-thirsty Xaela, Sora and her father, the only remnants of her immediate family, have left their homeland in hopes of finding a better life on the continent of Eorzea. Their journey begins in the great city of Ul’dah, where Sora and her father have established a new home. Will they find peace in this bustling hub of commerce and the social elite? Or will the chaos force them to seek out another option? Only time will tell.

APPEARANCE

Standing at a mere 5 fulms, 2 ilms high, Sora is considered tall for a female Au Ra. And, weighing in at just over 100 ponze, she hardly looks like she could handle herself in a fight. She looks more as if a stiff breeze would simply whisk her away. But don’t underestimate those bright, golden eyes, or the soft smile on her lips. Just look to the set of hora and her weathered (beaten) boots which give away her fighting skills.
Aspects That Stand Out:
■ Her golden eyes which rarely blink and stare at people and things as if she examining every facet of their existence.
■ Her laugh which is full and chipper.
■ The clinking sound created by the cluster of metal trinkets hanging from her belt.

PERSONALITY

She sits on the stone byway, watching a group of young Miqo’te dancers while she converses with a small group of people. One of the group says something entertaining and the rest rock back with laughter. It’s Sora’s chipper laugh which rises above the rest, causing passersby to look in the group’s direction with a grin. A few moments later she’s on her feet, politely excusing herself from the group while ruffling a Lalafell’s hair. As soon as she’s a few yalms away, her expression turns serious and she darts away, presumably on a mission of some sort. This is Sora, a lover of life; always eager to explore new ways of expanding her heart and mind.

L I K E S

The Sun – She truly enjoys spending time in the sun whether it’s on one of her long strolls, practicing her fighting techniques, or just sunbathing.
Music – Good music will bring her out of any reverie. She’s even been known to hum or sing to herself while she’s fighting.

D I S L I K E S

Flying – She has been aboard a few airships and is not fond of being so far from the ground. She has no fear of flying, it’s just not even close to any of her favorite things to do.
Brutes – She abhors the sight of big, dumb brutes who think they can get away with anything just because they look intimidating.

H O B B I E S

Collecting – She collects trinkets and tidbits throughout her travel or whenever the mood strikes her.
Jewelry Craft – She uses her slender fingers to craft beautiful jewelry, mostly in gold, often adorned in gems and gemstones.

S T R E N G T H S

Tenacity – When spurred to act she holds her ground and will protect her allies with little concern for her own safety. (See Relentless under Weaknesses)
Flexibility – While she respects the laws wherever she goes, she also understands that there are times when the law is a burden or a hindrance, doing more harm than good.

W E A K N E S S E S

Aloofness – Because of her habitual aloofness, she sometimes misses the obvious. This has caused her to lose more than one confrontation.
Relentless – She often will not acknowledge when she’s lost a fight. Despite all her training, she still has a hard time acknowledging when it’s time to back out of a fight.

M O T I V A T I O N S

Family – Sora looks to her family for guidance and support, and she would do anything to protect them.
Curiosity – As a naturally curious creature, she’s always searching for new things to examine. Not one for books, she believes in finding the object of her curiosity to learn from it directly.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS LEGEND
Family Involved Romantic Platonic Physical Friend Acquaintance $ Business Deceased Positive Negative Neutral Unsure
FAMILY
Kei Kihoshi, Father ( ) - Diviner Kihoshi
Character's Thoughts: " My father is a strong and devout man. Through both my mother’s death and my brother’s disappearance he has kept his head up and raised me with unwavering love. He taught me as he was taught: to love life and appreciate every moment I am granted in this world."
Sora and her father are thick as thieves. The two of them support one another in times of need and spend time together whenever they’re both in the same city.
Takeo Kihoshi, Older Brother () -
Character's Thoughts: "My brother, also a devout follower of Althyk, is a strong and kind man. Before he was lost in the fall of Dalamud, he was an able swordsman who always stepped in to protect the weak. I still look up to him, even if he’s not here with us."
It was Takeo’s courage and strength which inspired Sora to take up the art of fighting. Being nearly 10 years’ her senior, Takeo had a great deal to teach his little sister, and teach he did. They were nearly inseparable until the day he disappeared.
Khantyer Qalli, Tribe Sister. () - Khatagtai
Character's Thoughts: "Khantyer is a very intense woman. She has shown me great understanding and acceptance. I would do anything to protect her, although I believe is very capable of protecting herself."
Despite coming from very different backgrounds, Khantyer and Sora have become sisters through their racial heritage and some curiosity, perhaps on both sides.
Ahjier Urumet, Tribe Brother. () - Brother in Arms
Character's Thoughts: "I met Ahjier just recently through Khantyer and have had the chance to talk to him at length. I have found that he is a very loyal member of his tribe. I respect him, and hope the best for him. He considers me a Xaela, despite my Raen heritage. That's a little hard to wrap my mind around."
Ahjier and Sora don't see eye-to-eye on certain subjects, but Sora does her best to see things through his eyes. She trusts him and would do everything in her power to protect him, not that he needs it.
Odgerel Dazkar, Tribe Sister. () - Sister in Arms / "Bad Twin"
Character's Thoughts: "It's funny how much we look alike despite Odgerel being Xaela. The tribe refers to us as the twins, or 'Small One' (Odgerel) and 'Smallest One' (myself). She's fun to drink with and I trust her to watch my back in a fight. I would protect her with my life, should she need it."
Sora and Odgerel met on their travels in Othard. Despite their differences, Sora somehow managed to make a friend out of the Xaela and even convinced her to travel to Eorzea to see what else the world had to offer. They are both now Sisters in Arms under Khantyer.
NON-FAMILY
Master Kita, Friend & Mentor () - Spirit Teacher
Character's Thoughts: " Master Kita is a very patient and disciplined man. He has been a family friend since before I can remember, and has always been there for my family in times of need. He was the first to help us when my mother passed on suddenly, helping us to heal spiritually from the tremendous loss we felt. He is one of the finest people I know."
Master Kita has provided spiritual guidance to the Kihoshi family since before Sora’s birth. When Sora decided to follow in her older brother’s footsteps, it was Master Kita who chose to take her under his wing, teaching her a spiritually-centered form of martial combat instead of the sword-swinging that her brother chose.
Character's Thoughts: "Lex has a quirk or two which can make it difficult for others to work with him. For me, this is not the case. Despite our differences, we get on very well. Are there ups and downs? Of course, any relationship, no matter if it’s family, friend, ally, or business, has its ups and downs. Just know this: I will do whatever it takes to protect him. WHATEVER it takes. "
Lex and Sora began their courtship shortly after meeting just outside of Aleport. Fate brought them together and it will take something much stronger to divide them. Lex being of a different race than Sora has not kept them apart, despite grumblings from some of her family members.

RUMORS

N P C

Some of these rumors are untrue, speculation, or are greatly exaggerated.

◢ Common Rumors - Easily overheard. Use these freely!
"She's best avoided. Just like her mother, that one. Not all there upstairs, if you know what I mean. The two of them…this was when Sora was really young...well, the two of them used to dance in the streets all covered in animal blood, chanting in tongues like they were trying to call up Primals, or worse. Keep your distance, if you want my advice." - Meiko, The Quicksand patron
"We were engaged to be married years ago, but we were pulled apart by life. She's very dedicated to her pugilist studies, and to wandering. Not the wandering-eyes kind of wandering, the walking around kind. She loves discovering new places." – Hatsuo, Au Ra ex-fiancé
◢ Uncommon Rumors - A little more difficult to hear. Use sparingly or ask first!
"That Au Ra freak? She's a monster. She's got something against Hyur's. Once I saw her pick a fight with four of us for no good reason. She may be small, but she's not weak. And she fights dirty, tearing off ears and taking bites out of a man's flesh. She killed two other Hyur out there on the street, just because they looked at her funny. Beat them senseless and then tore out their hearts. Poor bastards." – Aldred, retired Hyur soldier
◢ Rare Rumors - Very rarely overheard. Please ask before using!
"Oh, her! She's got some guts. It's said that she stole some high-priced artifact from some Hyur scoundrel. He's got some pretentious name, let me think...ah, yes, "The Lunatic." Real name's Elden something. Well, turns out that artifact was for some high-up Lalafell noble and he wasn't too pleased about Elden losing the item. Elden lost his reputation, his gang, his money, and a few fingers. Seems the noble lost interest in the artifact after that. Nothing more has been heard since Elden's fall from grace." – R’qepi, shifty Miqo’te

OOC NOTES

OOC INFORMATION

Player Note
Player has years of experience in online and offline role-play settings, with a preference for free-form (unscripted) and immersive role-play. Also, as a member of the RPC on Mateus, the "< and >" are used to denote a statement spoken in the character's native tongue, Au Ra.
Disclaimers
■ Player is an adult and may engage in mature or adult-only content.
■ Player assumes responsibility for Sora’s actions and/or speech only and not that of any character/player reacting to Sora’s actions and/or speech.
■ Any player caught using information from this profile which is categorized as "Ask First," or who uses IC information for OOC purposes, risks the complete discontinuation of IC and OOC interactions with Sora and, if applicable, any of the player's alts.

CHARACTER TIDBITS

Potential Plot Hooks
■ Her only brother (older) was lost during The Calamity. He is presumed dead, but his remains have not been found.
■ Sora is blackmailing someone. The details have not yet been decided and are currently open for involvement by other player character.
■ In addition to training through the Pugilists’ Guild, Sora has been undergoing outside training through her Spirit Teacher, Master Kita. Master Kita is teaching her to focus her own spiritual energies into her fighting techniques. Other students have been trained by Master Kita prior to his teaching Sora.
Character Lore Adherence
This character adheres to as much of FFXIV’s lore as reasonably possible. Character information may change as additional lore becomes available, but will not change so much that any sort of retcon is required.

No one likes OOC/RL drama and no one likes to see friends go at it, while sometimes we can slip up, out of the fact we are just human, but try to just remember to keep it in private conversation, step away if it gets to heated to cool down, and just try to work things out.

3: NO OOC RUMOR MILLING

Don't do it, please? Rumor Milling or spreading around OOC rumors can break down a community or really hurt someone when many of those rumors could be false. If someone tells you about Joey is always a jerk and can't be trusted... Keep it to yourself. Don't go telling Sam, Sue, and Max all about Joey and hen they in turn do the same, when you may all find out later, Joey is a really good guy! Its just the way he portrays his character. Truth, after all, always finds a way to the surface, so let Joey show who he really is and don't go around spreading possible lies. Even if maybe those rumors were once true, it doesn't always apply to the NOW, as people can also change and no one should have baggage held over their heads.

4: BE SUPPORTIVE

That is some of these new roleplayers, so give them a hand, and let our actions, our curtosey to one another continue through, because they to, may one day, be the torch carriers for our community.

REGARDING OVER-POWERED CHARACTERS/INTERACTIONS

OP Characters

An individual that uses situational circumstances without the expressed consent of participating parties involved to further the impressing of their character (be it positive or negative) for personal gain. This is different from a Meta Character as the latter utilizes external source information to further the impressions of the character.

OP Situations
This is often viewed as the 'perfect world' where the situations are beneficially situated to cater to one's goal without inclusion of external 'world' elements. This is not tolerated.

How to avoid either scenario?
Know your character. Know your audience. Know your setting. Have a basis. If you are a fresh character that is new to the world, you will not instantly know your surroundings. If you are inexperienced in swordplay, you are not going to instantly know how to defend yourself. Base your actions on 'attempts' especially if there is uncertainty regarding the other party's reactions. This is why we have 'rolls', to provide a relatively fair likelihood for outcome UNLESS something other had been set by participating parties. This means, first and foremost, communicate with those involved. Of there is even a hint of external conflict based on player decisions, address it before escalation.

As a reminder: We are adults. No one is OP. All are vulnerable. None are without fault. Keep this in mind and please act accordingly.
