All that is certain is his rescue at the hands of an expeditionary force in the foothills of the Abalathian mountains. A starving urchin barely older than a handful of summers, he was taken in by the expeditioners – members of the Sons of Saint Coinach – and granted succor. Though the Sons intended to take the young miqo’te to one of the three Eorzean city-states, no true consensus could be met on the best course of action. Eventually his presence became commonplace, his quandary forgotten, and through negligence more than any real decision making, he became a ward of the organisation. And there he remained over the years, absorbing all the knowledge of their archives - until the descent of the lesser moon. Thereafter, nothing in Eorzea might remain the same, and Rhaya'li was no exception. APPEARANCE (WIP) Short and scrawny, Rhaya'li could almost be described as malnourished in appearance when undressed. Of course, rare is the day he would allow another living being to spy him in his smallclothes. More often he'll be seen garbed in bustling robes that do well to fill out his lanky appearance, and a pair of half-moon glasses perched upon the bridge of his nose. Though he may appear fragile, Rhaya’li’s stance and posture speak of determination, grit, and iron-willed resolve. He rarely displays emotion through body language, his resting expression cold and steely. A smile from this miqo’te is rare. In addition to bearing the facial markings commonly associated with clan-dwelling miqo'te, Rhaya’li has suffered modest scarring to his left cheek from an injury sustained in the wilds (prior to being rescued by the Sons of Saint Coinach). Aspects That Stand Out: ■ Heterochromic eyes. ■ Scarred left cheek. PERSONALITY (WIP) For the most part, Rhaya'li is unsociable. Prompted on a topic of interest he might turn into a blabbermouth, but otherwise keeps his own counsel. Interacting with this miqo'te can be difficult for many due to his matter-of-fact manner of speaking - he is not one to pull his punches or avoid criticising someone to their face. For the most part, however, this is never done with the intent of malice, and is more a consequence of social inexperience than anything else. Beyond that, he is highly intelligent and an avid reader that is not afraid to get his hands dirty with some research out in the field. Though he may never admit it, he's a highly adventurous soul and enjoys wandering the halls of ancient ruins just as much as scouring the pages of dusty tomes and scrolls. L I K E S ■ Tranquility. A calm, soothing atmosphere puts Rhaya'li most at ease. Fresh air, moonlight and plenty of nature do best to facilitate this. ■ Reading. Surprising absolutely no one, this miqo'te has a fondness for books and the reading of them. ■ Integrity. Though a touch abstract, Rhaya'li holds in higher regard those that possess this quality. D I S L I K E S ■ Privacy Invasion. As a largely private individual, those that pry overmuch into his personal affairs tend to be met with a cold response. ■ Apathy. Despite his standoffish nature, Rhaya'li is someone that cares strongly about a great many things. About Eorzea, about the preservation of life, and about the protection of the innocent. Being part of the same organisation, they met through Wyznwyta's research efforts, joining forces to survey the ruins surrounding Bronze Lake and the Wanderer's Palace. CHARACTER TIDBITS Potential Plot Hooks ■ Rhaya'li is gifted with the power of the Echo. While I understand this is not everyone's cup of tea as some would suspect that giving a character such a boon is seeking 'special snowflake' status, I know myself and my RPing ability well enough to know that I would not abuse the ability for the sake of becoming 'godlike' or gaining unfair advantages over other chracters.
