Belian Lightfoot (born Belian Velmont) is a Pirate and Brigand, Treasure Hunter and Scoundrel. he is always on the lookout for his fortune and glory. born in Ala Migho before Imperial rule and raised on the streets of Limsa Lominsa, the sea is the home and there is no place on Eorzea he would rather be. Aether and sharp wit are his greatest allies.

Belian is kind of scrawny and thin for his age. Even though he is well tone and muscular from sailing most of his life he always seems to have a small appearance. he has shaggy blonde hair that he keeps loose and medium length. He has vibrant green eyes that seem to shine in any light.

he wears simple clothes. Growing up at sea he wears loose fitting tunics and breeches with either knee high or thigh high boots. THough more often he has been seen in more formal type attire.

♦ Behaviour

To describe Belian as a loose cannon would be an understatement. he is a man who enjoys his vices. Drinking, womanizing, fighting, There is nothing he won't try at least once. He believes that his life could end any day and he's going to live to the fullest before he meets his end.

He only has told very few people why he does it. A tragedy in his past has left him mentally scarred and he is prone to flashbacks. His behavior reflects his desire to do anything to help him forget and take the pain away.

Combat

Years at sea has made Belian a dangerous close quarters fighter. he is very skilled at knife fighting and hand to hand combat. His favorite though is the gun. he is a crack shot and is able to hit targets not only while moving but while a ship is pitching though the waves at sea. he has spent a long time to hone his marksmanship.

Belian also has a great interest in Magitek, trying to find new and interesting ways to use magiteck gadgets in a fight. Most recently he has learned to incorporate some magic into his fighting style often switching seemlessly between melee and magical combat.

Even though he can hold his own in a fight Belian will always try to use his silver tongue to get him out of sticky situations instead of fighting.

Biography

Past
Belian was born the son of a Fisherman and a Tavern wench, Rodrick and Elise Velmont. Belian's father spent most of his time at sea and his mother spent her time whoring in a tavern. Needless to say there was no one to take care of little Belian. He received no education, no parental teaching or upbringing what so ever. he spent his time on the streets. He learned to steal, con and survive. It was a harsh lonely life and Belian resented his parents for not being with him. Even at an early age he was captivated by the sea. He would often go down to the docks and sneak aboard ships. One day while he was exploring the holds, The ship weighed anchor and departed. Stranded out at sea on a strange ship Belian had a choice, starve to death or let the crew know he was there. Luckily for the skrawny blonde kid this was a honest privateer and they were not interested in killing a kid. They put him to work as a cabin boy. Polishing boots and peeling potatoes. It was about as low as he could get but maybe if he proved himself they would let him stay.

Many moons pass and Belian became quite the adept little cook. Cooking meals for his crewmates was fun for him and the best part was he was generally liked by his shipmates. One day every privateers worst nightmare came true. They were attacked by pirates. having only light guns the ship was totally outmatched in every way possible. The pirates only suffered light casualties taking the vessel and the cargo they found would keep them in rum and wenches for weeks. Belian was dragged kicking ans screaming from the galley and a pistol was put to his head. He would have died then and there had it not been for the Quartermaster of the Pirate ship, Gravon Lightfoot, a large scruffy looking Highlander man. he admired the fight in the scrawny boy even though it was futile it didn't stop Belian from clawing, biting and gouging trying to break free. Gravon brought down the handle of his pistol against the poor boys head. They took him as tribute and to replace what losses they had while taking Belians ship. Gravon took the boy under his wing and taught him everything he knew about being a Pirate. This was the father Belian never had. Someone who took interest in him, made sure he was fed and warm, and someone who wanted him to succeed. Slowly the scrawny boy grew into a scrawny man. A pirate feared and respected and Belian loved it. He was home at sea with his brothers. With them he was invincible. When Gravon was killed by a lucky bullet while taking a prize Belian shed his given surname of Velmont and adapted his fathers, his true father... the one who taught him how to be a man, Taught him how to sail, track, sneak, to cover his Lominsian accent, gave him the formal education his parents never did. He forged Belian into everything he wanted to be,and the blonde young man owed this old pirate more then he could ever say. So to honor him from that day on he called himself Belian Lightfoot. It was a simple yet profound gesture... and he vowed on that day that anyone who sailed the sea would come to fear the name Lightfoot.

Present:

Learning more about his past, Belian has once again taken his given surname of Velmont. He now lives in Ul'Dah, trying to find more information about his family and trying to distance himself from the now disgraced profession of Piracy. He is a freelance Treasure Hunter, searching for mysterious and powerful relics he can sell. Legitimate life but old habits die hard and sometimes Belian just can't resist the plunder and pleasure of breaking the law.
