Arvan is an Au Ra woman currently in her early 20's who has been a denizen of Aldenard for nearly 5 summers. She is known to some as a competent beastkin and scalekin culler, and to others an untrustworthy outcast. Though a subject of persecution within the Holy See proper, she remains relatively well sought-after by merchants, taxidermists, and the wealthy Ishgardian upper class who elect for the clandestine pursuit of precious pelts and rare game. Unemotional towards her work environment, Arvan can only be chanced upon in Ishgard once every 3 or 4 moons, but in recent years has begun frequenting the Coerthan central highlands, seemingly lending labor to the front lines of defense against dravanian hordes. It is unclear at whose behest she does this, as she has no known connections to the Ishgardian armed services. Due to her absence in other habitable areas, it is commonly thought that during these times she sought dwelling within Xelphatol, or in the pit of Witchdrop.

About

A denizen of Aldenard for nearly 5 summers, Arvan is known to some as a competent beastkin and scalekin culler, and to others an untrustworthy outcast. It is unclear at whose behest she does this, as she has no known connections to the Ishgardian forces. Due to her absence in other habitable areas, it is commonly thought that during these times she sought dwelling within Xelphatol, or in the pit of Witchdrop.

(Neither of these is accurate.)

Loosely associated with odd titles from Gridanian and Coerthan associates, such as 'postwoman', 'aevisbane', and the more derogatory 'scalekin' (the latter two understandably coming from within the Holy See,) she has become a relatively low-profile adventurer. Though in no manner affiliated with Ishgard's chivalric Order of the Knights Dragoon, her prowess and skill of hunting with a spear seem to bear close resemblance to those techniques employed by a member of the Order.

Arvan was recently charged on suspicion of 'heresy' with a single count of contempt to the Ishgardian court after forgetting her hearing date, subjecting her to a standard trial by combat. She seems to be fine.

!!!HABITS

This nomadic lone wolf is highly curious by nature. Always seeking to observe everything unique and novel about the world, she is not as stern as she tends to come off as, and is possessed of an open and tolerant mind. A self-effacing girl, she is prone to missing social cues - but needs not be told twice to take action whenever food or combat is involved. It is commonly thought that her reticence belies either poor social ability or plain lack of intelligence, but not only is Arvan obliging of character, she sports strongly independent judgement.

Perfectly comfortable with solitude, she likes to shy away from kinship and close bonds, never confident that her own shortcomings won't cause ill to others. Though not easily affected, her general inability to understand the reliance of people on her strengths contributes to untimely absences when her input is needed. As such, despite her kindness and sense of duty, she is often the '11th hour hero', making her somewhat unreliable to the loosely acquainted.

She is, however, known to be quietly and fiercely protective of those who accept her. Her competitive retaliation can come as a surprise to anyone and anything that threatens the safety of her and hers. A hunter to the core of her being, she stalks and strikes when least anticipated.

Childhood ❧

Born to a matriarch and a respected horseman of the Tumet clan, Arvan is a pure-blooded Xaela currently in her early 20's. Having failed the traditional rite of passage into the tribe at the tender age of 10 summers, she remains consigned to her meaningless placeholder name arvankhoër, which translates to the number 'twelve'. Over the course of her life, interaction with Eorzeans has had the syllables in her name evenly split in such a way as to form a given name and surname - Arvan Khoer.

Rescued from dehydration and starvation by her older brother Zarga Khoerdugaar, and his blood brother Shaar, the orphaned Arvan spent the following 7 years of her life drifting the Azim steppes under the care of her saviors. With each child being a champion of hunting in their own rights and the twisted Zarga as their leader, the trio resorted to a capricious lifestyle of letting themselves be absorbed into whichever small tribes were kind enough to accept them, only to turn on them and bite their feeding hands through vicious marauding.

Arvan first set foot upon Eorzean territory on her 17th nameday, arriving some moons into the grim wake of the Calamity. Though it was originally intended for her to fall under the care of the Ishgardian contact of a traveler she had met back in Othard, misconceptions regarding the Au Ra race made her tenancy unwelcome. Taken aback by this Au Ra girl's striking draconic features and fearing scandal, the combat instructor who was to take Arvan in turned her away, despite recognizing her demonstrated flair for wielding a lance. Ultimately, she was made to turn to self-sustenance to make a living, but was not without a hunger that she left in search of a place to stay: in the short duration of time in Coerthas the 'artistry' of the Isghardian dragoons' fighting prowess had hooked her fascination.

Displaced but fearless, perfectly armed with the necessary skills to provide for herself, Arvan chose to migrate throughout the Eorzean city-states in the spirit of wanderlust. Amid the gradual scramble to re-piece the integrity of the region from the outreach of the Battle of Carteneau, she showed neutrality towards the circumstances with her hermitic lifestyle. It was on occasion that she became known among some civilians who would bear witness to her beast-slaying, or an errand she would run - some manner of odd job or other implausible job made do-able, though she would carry on abruptly, uncomfortable with the idea of garnering attention. In the recent couple of years, she has elected to situate herself more permanently within Gridania and, oddly enough, Coerthas, as if coming full circle.

Finding few welcomes in the Eorzea she had come to hear many stories about from wandering bards, she pushed through the region in search of the city-state of Coerthas, seeking out a combat instructor, introduced through a traveler she had met in Othard, who was to serve as her contact.
