Personality Susubi Subi is one who values patience and keeps an even temperament. Even when inside she feels like screaming and raging she often opts for extreme calm, choosing to be particularly emotive in private, if at all. This can, sometimes, lead to her being labelled as cold and dismissive but nothing could be further from the truth; Susubi cares deeply about a lot of things. She just would prefer them to be something she shares with friends and takes a long time to forge those sort of bonds. When she is offended Susubi tends towards utter silence and contempt. When she is happy she smiles subtly. Due to her brother’s shenanigans, something of which Susubi is not particularly fond of, she tends to be on the more cynical and reserved side and as a rule only reveals information when needed. The young woman is not entirely manipulative, but she does like to wait and calculate where and when she should speak so that it has the most value and impact. She sees the world from a realistic and logical perspective whenever possible. Susubi’s physical mannerisms are generally elegant and graceful due to her affluent upbringing. She employs good etiquette and delicacy even in combat where she wields potent spells deployed by her own personal grimoire, an item to which she is very attached. History Susubi Subi was raised the atypical Lalafellian merchant's daughter in Ul'dah. Her mother was a kindly, beautiful woman who had caught her father's eye at a dance six years before her birth; they had married quickly and produced a son some time before their beloved daughter arrived. As a child Susubi's upbringing was one surrounded by guards and focusing on education and etiquette. Gagaraku Kakaraku, her brother, was to take over her father's business. So for their daughter Susubi's parents wished for a wealthy husband, good looks and grace. Susubi, on the other hand, was arguably more well-equipped in natural disposition than her brother when it came to finances and business. A compromise was reached by sending her to Limsa Lominsa to pursue a career as an arcanist to put her intellect and general cunning to good use. Nevertheless, when her father was assassinated by rivals when she was fourteen, Susubi had not the power nor the sense to consider usurping her brother. Gagaraku proceeded to ruin his family's wealth and company with poor planning, general incompetence and arrogance. After a period of spending as much gil as possible on drink, women, and other such luxuries his creditors came knocking and Gagaraku disappeared to avoid any sort of responsibility. With her mother hardly apt at managing anything that related to money Susubi stepped in, returning home from her training at the Arcanist’s Guild. Covering Gagaraku’s debts completely by selling off and liquidating her father’s business, in the end all that was left was a run-down inn on the outskirts of Ul’dah which her mother was happy to be the face of. Nowadays Susubi can be found trying to rebuild her father's shattered empire by any means necessary whilst keeping her mother with a roof over her head and continueing on with her studies. To the casual outsider the family may appear to be back on its feet. But Susubi knows the value of masks in Ul'dah, both literal and metaphorical.
