Xiriah was born on a cold winter night to a small family in Coerthas. The family hailed from a mountain village in (Doma or someplace), from which they had escaped. Coerthas was however not ideal for them, the climate was even colder than what they were used to, and the Ishgardians not too friendly to the newcomers. Most of the travelers continued south, but Xiriah's parents were for some reason conviced to stay (sickness? people die?) Xiriah was soon adopted by a Hyur couple in a village outside Ishgard. Her adoptive father was a merchant, and on rare occasions he would make the travel to Limsa Lominsa to trade goods. In her early teens, Xiriah got to join him on a voyage, after nagging him forever about "never having left the village". Before they made it back, they got news that their village had been attacked and they had nothing to return to.

Appearance & Personality

Xiriah is likely one of the tallest female Miqo'te you'll ever encounter, and if she didn't proudly show off her ears and tail she might just have been mistaken for a small Highlander. (In-game max height for Miqo'te Keepers is 162.2 cm, Xiriah is around 168-170cm)
She is strong, but as most Miqo'te, not visibibly muscular. Her hair is dark blue, shoulder length, and mostly tied up with various braids and ponytails.
Her outfits vary a lot, but she generally wears heavy armors suiting her role as a warrior, often with feminine details and always a skirt.
Due to her past involving brawling brutes and pirates, Xiriah seems rude and careless, especially if you haven't proven yourself to her. Unless you can instantly impress her with your presence, you'll likely have to work to get to know her. She will not work to get to know you. If you do get to know her, it turns out that she has a relaxed attitude about most situations, and tries to make even the most boring things seem like fun.
When it comes to work she puts on a serious face, preferring to get it over with as fast as possible. If she has a goal in mind, she works hard to attain it, sometimes overlooking other important matters and the needs of others. She does however get incredibly happy when drinking.
Although the Miqo'te in Eorzea are known to worship Menphina, the families who lived in the village had stayed there for generations, and didn't really favor any deity. Xiriah doesn't worship any of the Twelve, but respects them. She relates most to Halone, and can rarely be seen bowing her head in respect at her shrines, if she happens to pass by one.

Biography

Xiriah was born in the middle of a long winter in a remote mountain village in Othard. (Subject to change if we get to know more about miqo'te origins.)

The village was small, but peaceful, and consisted mostly of Midlander Hyur and some Keeper Miqo'te. It would be snowy and cold most of the winter, but not unliveable. Xiriah lived here until her pre-teens, when the Garlean Empire razed the village and chased off its inhabitants. Xiriah's parents went missing during the attack, and no one had a chance to find out what happened to them. Xiriah and the rest of her family, among others, escaped to the sea and set sail for a new home. Realizing that the Empire would not stop until they had taken all of Othard, went towards Eorzea. All seemed well enough, until the ships got attacked again, this time by pirates. When the pirates found out the refugees had nothing, they sunk the ships. Most of the villagers died, as they refused the opportunity to join the pirates crew. To give her a chance of survival, Xiriah's last remaining family, her uncle, decided they would join the pirates.

After living with them for a while, the pirates didn't seem too bad considering their actions. After some time they realized they would have starved on the travel to Eorzea if they weren't attacked, as a few already had done. Some of the refugees ended up escaping the pirate ship as well. Xiriah's uncle however almost enjoyed the thrill of being on the ship, and fit in well with the crew, meaning he and Xiriah stayed unharmed. Xiriah would become sort of a mascot, and after some time she started to get over the fear of being captured. They could several times have chosen to leave the ship and start over in an unknown land, but they ended up staying for several years. As she was still a child, she was afraid to leave the only thing she knew. Uncle did well for himself and got a good rank within the crew, and Xiriah learned to fight.

In her late teens, Xiriah decided to part ways with her uncle and the crew, ready and eager to seek new experiences in a new land. They let her off in a pirate-friendly area; Limsa Lominsa. She started to frequent the Wolves Den, soon becoming a favorite brawler among the peers. She'd earn her living by fighting, and eventually the Maelstrom would spot her talents. Their terms seemed "fair enough" to Xiriah, and she became determined that since she had managed to climb to the top among the Den's lawless brawlers, she could do the same in one of Eorzea's grand companies. She struggled at the bottom of the ranks for quite some time, getting in fights with other newcomers and not always doing well on missions. Her driking habits got worse as she didn't always spend time with Limsa's finest, and ended up losing her fame in the Wolves Den. Eventually, broken from not being able to do better for the Maelstrom or herself, she again joined her uncle on the sea. She returned to Limsa again some years later, having gained more experience and a new set of mind, ready to conquer again.

In more recent times she found her way back to Othard and Kugane, and ended up moving there.
